    Other than the ones on this list, there have been others who ran 91 or 100-yard TDs, etc. I chose these because they were my favorites. The video would have been too long had I included each 100, 91, 85, etc. yard TD in franchise history. Maybe that's for another video. Thanks again guys! DC4LIFE

      Thanks for clarifying. There were several missing. From memory, Hambrick ran 80 yds against the Eagles in '02 I think. Rod Smith had an 81 yd rec against the Giants in '17, Dantzler - 84 yd KR TD against the 49ers in '02, Martin 85 yd PR against the Eagles in '91, Elliot - 85 yd rec against the Steelers in '16, Cooper - 90 yd TD against the Redskins in '18, Murray - 91 yd TD against the Rams in '11, it was either Woodson or Marion with a 94 yd pick 6 against the Eagles in '94 I think, Teague - 95 yd pick 6 against GB in '99, McCann - 97 yd punt return against the Lions in '10, and Ellis - 98 yd fumble ret against the Cardinals in '98 I think. It would've been a much longer video, but great job though. I always love the research you do when you put these videos together and I love reliving some past glory days.

      I know you are a young person and the recent events are more vivid to you, but I remember the days when the Cowboys were just beginning to win. The very greatest of all their long touchdowns was from memory in 1968. It had been a long time coming but Meredith, who I will always say truly helped even build the Cowboys, passed for 95 yards to Bob Hayes, the very fastest man alive. Of course, all the new guys want to brag about speed, but that man, Hayes, was speed to the hilt. I mean he ran past everyone and just kept on going. I think it was a 1st down play too and that was in the day when the quarterback actually called the plays, so it was Meredith that called that play NOT Landry. Anyway, that play stands out to me as one of the greatest of all time and it marked the time when the Cowboys could play with the best of them. Oh well, we old farts remember the years when every Sunday afternoon it was a tough day for our team.

    Herschel had two 84 yard scores that same game against the Eagles in 1986. He gained 292 yards of total offense that one day alone, and we still lost. Defines the late 80s that does.

      @@thelogicalcowboy And he retired as second only to Walter in total career yardage. How is it possible he isnr given more credit for that? Yards are everything in football.
      and his attitude toward football was perfect. He did not demand to play any star role...he made himself available to help the team in any way. Not many players of that calibre are willing to block for others or run routes.
      The perfect Cowboy. Tom Landry in his book named Herschel alongside Lilly and Staubach as the three players with the character he could build a team around.

I don't know the number of times I've seen an epic play called back. My MOST favorite play was Don Meredith to Bob Hayes for 95 yards with him burning the field down with his super speed. I saw that play when it happened and it was fantastic. This of course came after all those losing years so it was a very sweet time. I consider Hayes the greatest receiver they have had. I liked Meredith too, but I am an old school fan so....

      Thanks bro! To answer your question... Keep in mind that the 2020 draft featured 35 receivers who came out and were considered one of the strongest classes in recent memory. Ruggs, Judy, Lamb, Jefferson, Pittman, Aiyuk, and Higgins were all top prospects with number 1 potential, making it a toss-up on which receiver fit each team's philosophy. I think teams would have been happy with either receiver. Also, despite being picked late, Lamb was only the third receiver chosen out of 35.

      Great plays. They were initially on my list. Keep in mind my intention wasn't to choose every TD from every yard. I chose Dorsett's 91-yard TD over Murray's 91-yard TD. The same with Primetime's 83-yard TD over Pearson 83-yard TD. I chose the highlight I thought was better even if they were the same yards. Thanks again bro!

      Appreciate the comment bro. So when I did this video my intention wasn't to highlight every long run ever in Cowboys history. But do highlights based on the number. That's why I have Dorsett's 91-yard TD but not Demarco Murray's 91-yard TD. I chose the highlight that I thought was better even though they might have the same yards. If that makes sense.

    Sorry, to do this to you because you do such a great job, but you missed quite a few. In no particular order. 1991 Kelvin Martin 85-yard punt return vs. Philadelphia. 1965 Jerry Rhome to Bob Hayes 82 yards. 1971 Staubach to Hayes 85 yards vs. the Giants. 1967 Meredith to Hayes 86 yards vs. Cleveland. 1970 Morton to Hayes 80 yards vs. Giants. 1970 Morton to Hayes 89 yards vs. KC. 1968 Hayes 90-yard punt return vs. Pittsburgh. 2011 Demarco Murray 91-yard run vs the Rams. 1977 Dorsett had an 84-yard run. There might be others but these were the ones I was aware of and looked them up to confirm them.

      I'm well aware of those plays. Keep in mind this video is about the longest plays in Cowboys history not necessarily every long play in Cowboys history. For example, Murray ran a 91-yard TD against the Rams in his rookie season. I could've gone with that. But I chose Dorsett's 91 yards vs the Colts. If I chose *every* 80+yard TD the video would have been too long. Maybe I can do it in the future. Always great to hear from you bro!

    • @tombriggs9259
      @tombriggs9259 7 місяців тому +2

      There probably isn't any footage of every long Cowboys touchdown, particularly those from the early 1960's. Amos Marsh had a 101 yard kick return TD in 1962, but I've never been able to find any footage of it. He also caught an 85 yard TD from Eddie LeBaron in the same year, which is available to see on the Shoot For The Stars video, about 2 minutes 55 seconds in.

      That was exactly another one of my issues making this video. Mike Geatcher had a 100-yard TD in 1962. But I couldn't find any footage whatsoever. So I picked Mel Renfro's 100-yard td.

      @@thelogicalcowboy Marsh's kick return and Gaechter's interception return were in the same Quarter of the same game - Oct 14 1962 vs the Eagles. I believe it was the first time in NFL history that a team had scored 2 100+ yard TD's in the same game.
