Great reaction! I would like to clarify the following. Diana not only studied vocals from the age of 5, but also took part in musicals. I think this was her first appearance on the show so the judges are taken by surprise but even as it goes on she manages to make them do that thing where they just look at each other in amazed bewilderment. My favorite judge reaction is probably the one for Blizzard (second season? different set of judges) and the first guy clearly was trying to hold out but as soon as she starts to sing he just slaps the button in indignant resignation. And another one is talking to the judge next to her obviously gushing about her amazing voice and then turns back to Diana, shrugs, presses the button and gestures like "oh course, yeah, obviously" ☺️
Diana has an inspiring story...mistreated and orphaned by her birth mother, she was orphaned and later adopted...she didn't speak and her new Mom brought her to a vocal coach...she is a natural stage animal and a great dancer. I know she's polyphonic now but when i first heard her sing this the point in this video at 3.08, I was like did she make both those sounds? Cos you can hear her foundation tone in the "vole" but then you hear a higher note and there doesn't seem to be back up singers (but it could be im no expert).. No one else seems to notice when they react (the lady in red on the show did ha) so Im not sure, but sure does sound like both come from her. incredible

Just think, 9 years before this performance Diana was unable to speak properly due to trauma in her childhood. An incredible life story which is worthy of a feature film in itself! She seems to be a young genius. I'm so pleased a friend introduced me to her singing.
I think this was her first appearance on the show so the judges are taken by surprise but even as it goes on she manages to make them do that thing where they just look at each other in amazed bewilderment.
My favorite judge reaction is probably the one for Blizzard (second season? different set of judges) and the first guy clearly was trying to hold out but as soon as she starts to sing he just slaps the button in indignant resignation. And another one is talking to the judge next to her obviously gushing about her amazing voice and then turns back to Diana, shrugs, presses the button and gestures like "oh course, yeah, obviously" ☺️

I know she's polyphonic now but when i first heard her sing this the point in this video at 3.08, I was like did she make both those sounds? Cos you can hear her foundation tone in the "vole" but then you hear a higher note and there doesn't seem to be back up singers (but it could be im no expert).. No one else seems to notice when they react (the lady in red on the show did ha) so Im not sure, but sure does sound like both come from her. incredible

Do you think that the fact that she barely communicated in her early years saw her vocal chords develop in a different way?
The leftover from that traumatic time were nodules on Diana's vocal cords, which she still had at the time of this performance. She underwent treatment and the problem was resolved.
According to her biological mother, Diana was a very smart girl and began to speak for up to a year. Judging by the early video recordings, at the time of entering the foster family after the orphanage, Diana had a fully developed speech for her age, but there were some defects of diction, characteristic of many children at this age (4.5 years), and she stuttered slightly.
