The reality is... Trump said on January 5th, the day before to respect the Capitol police because we are the party of law and order. On January 6th he told his supporters to protest peacefully. If you remember, when they were first announced the January 6th committee, congressman Jordan went on fox news and said he wanted to know that too. That he wanted to know why the guard was refused and why security wasn't stronger. The next day Pelosi said he wasn't allowed on the committee which sparked the other Republicans being pulled off and allowed Pelosi to hand pick never Trump'ers she approved of.

Our military including the National Guard is under civilian control. They can only do what the civilian control tells them to do as far as mission goes. The do get handle the logistics of how they do what they are ordered. She is in the chain of command but she is at the top over the commander of DC NG.
