Obsessed Garage DRYING AID Review and Test

- Is this the best NEW DRYING AID? I put Obsessed Garage Drying Aid to the test. Spoiler alert!! I already used half the bottle and I like the OG drying aid. Obsessed Garage is known for having top shelf garage tools and car detailing products and this fits right in.
A drying aid is a spray on product used to help lubricate the surface after the wash process so that a towel can be used to dry the wet car with reduced chances of scratching or marring the paint. Any contact with the paint while detailing the car needs to be lubricated to avoid damaging the clear coat. A good drying aid should spray on easy, be very slick under the towel, wipe off with little effort, leave a buttery slick feeling on the paint and improve the gloss and shine. This is how I will judge all drying aids that I test. A drying aid does not have long lasting durability as it will be applied after each wash cycle. Using a low durability drying aid will prevent layering of sealants one on top of the another. This is especially important for people that wash their car regularly.
Drying Aid products are ideal for cars that have an existing ceramic coating. A drying aid can also be considered a topper coat or sacrificial layer. Even the best ceramic coating will start to feel less slick over time. A drying aid will help to revive that slick feeling and also improve its hydrophobic properties. As tough as a ceramic coating is it is still susceptible to being scratched or marred without proper lubrication during the drying process. A drying aid should be used each time the vehicle is towel dried regardless of any existing protection that may be on the paint.
The best options of paint protection for most people are:

Thanks for the video Jeremy!
Glad you've been enjoying the drying aid! It's one of our favorite products we sell!
I like it. It’s a good product. Straight forward labeling and high quality results.
How’s it work in summer months for us Mobile detailers?
Can we use as a quick detailer ?
Somehow missed this video, but I was procrastinating on getting this drying aid & you convinced me so I will be adding it to my stuff!
You will like it. Thanks for watching
I love the xtreme solution version, super slick and glossy.
i believe they’re the same product, but that OG has no dyes
I bought a gallon not too long ago. I love it! It has a light vinegar fragrance doesn't bother Me! It works really well. Easy on, easy off. Excellent slickness. Thanks for another great video. Be well.
Thanks a lot. I like it too. It’s a good product.
Thank for the support! The smell isn't exactly amazing but we like the idea of a pure product when drying.
@@ObsessedGarage It doesn't bother Me in the least! 😃 I love how it works! That's the most important part of it. Thanks for putting it out for us. Stay safe, be well.
@@HawaiiDetailing It's top shelf, no doubt!!
Vinegar? 🤢
I’ve been on the fence about buying this but if you’re saying it’s good then I know it’s good. I’ll have to pick up a bottle. Thanks for the review!
Grab a gallon, You'll love it!!
You are welcome. It’s a good product. Thanks for watching and always supporting the channel.
@@HawaiiDetailing I enjoy every video that You upload. I'm also passionate about detailing.
@@J1Z06 thanks Jay. I appreciate it.
@@HawaiiDetailing Keep up the great content!
I too was on the fence with this particularly after buying the OG tire dressing (not my fav). But if you stand by it as a nice add to the arsenal then you may have push me over to get it haha. Thanks, dude keep on keeping on!
Thanks. Yeah it helps if you need a few things to make the shipping worth it.
I’ve literally been on this topic lately lol you came in with this at great timing love the channel!
Thank you.
Enough with these OG stuff, about time Jeremy announces his own products. Name "Alright Yeah Detailing Products"
Hell yeah Jeremy lets get your products out very soon!
🤣
Hahaha. That’s funny. Who knows. Maybe? I know exactly what I want for sure. Thanks for all

Personally I'm quite fond of his "no doubt about it" commentary whenever I hear that I know it's a good product 💯 I'll be looking for No Doubt Detailing products coming soon ☺️
@@TahoeAudi710 you forgot to mention his random laugh. Haha
Just found your channel, immediately subscribed, I love it!

Another great review Jeremy! Personally been using cg drying aid or sometimes cg v07 spray sealant as a drying aid, been looking for a new one to add was thinking gyeon wetcoat but this looks like a nice option too. Glad to be part of the winning team see ya on the next one
Yeah. Hahaha. Thanks for watching
Cg v07 is fire
I know this is an old comment but I've used V07, McKee's 914 and Adam's Graphene and they're all great but Gyeon Wet Coat is my current go-to just because there is no wiping involved. Just spray on and rinse off. I dry the cars with a stubby nose Ego blower. If any contact drying is needed, I'll mist a microfiber towel with the McKee's. I'm not worried about trying to add more hydrophobics or gloss to the car when drying because the Gtechniq ceramic and Wet Coat take care of that. I'm mainly just using it becuase A it's super inexpensive and B high lubricity for the towel.
Nice to see another review on this one! Looks pretty good.
Yeah it’s really slippery. That’s my favorite part about it. Very slick.
@@HawaiiDetailing I think it's slicker than BeadMaker!
I think it is too.
@@HawaiiDetailing It's tough to get anything more slippery than BeadMaker! 😎🚗
One of the reasons I dig you is that you have fun
Thanks. I appreciate it
Entertaining as always, Jeremy. Keep going.
Thank you.
I’m from Australia and I’m happy OG ships them here first time I’ve used it today on my car this product is absolutely amazing there’s nothing out there like it no streaking as I’m drying with it and the slickness and gloss is insane that it gives my cars finish looked like reflective sort of like glass I’ve ordered two more today the waiting time to come to Australia to my doorstep is the only downside last time I bought from OG I waited almost 4 weeks to arrive ☹️
Good to hear. Thanks for sharing and watching the channel
@@HawaiiDetailing I like watching your channel simply because your videos on detailing cars are straight and direct honest and no time wasting I like that.

Great review Jeremy. Been using TW Wet Wax and love it, however, anything that Matt puts his name on has to be good. Gonna order some and let you know what I think. Aloha 🤙🏻
Right on. Thanks. I appreciate it.
You mentioned using Beadmaker as a drying aid. I recently had someone say that using Beadmaker with a microfiber drying towel will now make the towel repel the water not absorb it. What are your thoughts on what these drying aids do to the drying towel and can they be reused before washing. Thanks
They should be washed with a proper microfiber towel detergent to prevent any issues long term. Here is a link. amzn.to/3oFW0GA
I also have a video in my list if you want to watch it.
I used it yesterday and I am very impressed. I have been using beadmaker for a while and I do feel this is slicker.
Thanks for sharing
Great video. Since at last fulfilling my long held dream of a Tesla (Mosel Y LR Red with Black/White interior) I have become something of a car care anorak and maybe a little obsessive but I'm happy. Well, sorta happy; I am confused by some product description and in particular, the lack of what they are NOT goods for warnings. So, my Y has front end, to the A pillar PPF and Ceramic for the rest. I would like to find a drying aid, something that is applied to the wet car, which is suitable (at a minimum, does no harm). Would that be the one you so well demonstrated?
Yes it is. This is my favorite one out there right now. Goes in easy. Wipes off streak free with a really slick finish.
@@HawaiiDetailing Thank you for your response.
I haven't tried the OG drying aid, but I've tried the Xtreme solutions topper, and the OG drying aid should be the same drying aid without the scent and the color. I like Xtreme Solutions Topper and same as you, still using Bead Maker.
I have heard the same that this formula is the same as Topper without the dyes and scent. Both made by B&B Blending
Yeah. I use them both. Old favs and I like to try new stuff. Thanks for watching
@@Kenpobruce also Adam’s Slick and Slide
@@Kenpobruce it is. Matt said exactly that in his video about the product.
Quick question: if I were to use this product as a drying aid during a wash and then apply a 6-month sealant of some kind after it was drying, would using the drying aid first in any way compromise the longevity of the sealant that I put on top of it? Thanks!
I would apply the high durability sealant first. If you already have a drying aid on there I would wait and apply the high durability sealant after the drying aid has faded. It won’t hurt anything either way but will impact the durability if it’s applied on top of another product.
We suggest you just keep applying Drying Aid every wash. It does have roughly 3 months of protection built into the products chemical formula. So just keep topping your protection each wash with our Drying Aid & you'll never have to worry about product failure.
@@ObsessedGarage think I’m a little confused about this category. With 2-3 months protection, at that point, isn’t it more of a spray sealant/wax that you can just use to lube your drying towel? That’s what I’ve been doing for many many years after blowing the car dry.
Might just be better to stick with using the 6month sealant the way you are. Spraying another product that you have to wipe off again just increases the chances of the paint getting marred.
I am in the air about buying absolute and bead makers to mix up your Honey Pot solution or purchase Adams Slick and Slide. What do you suggest? I believe OG came up with this drying aid after using Absolute
You can’t go wrong with Adam’s but I like to try different products to keep me entertained and happy.
My question is what was the root product Matt got from a customer and turned into the OG Drying Aide after removing the color and scent?
Still watching Bud! Check in every once in a while to see what's new.
Thanks a lot. I appreciate it
I was ready to order this at the checkout 32 oz bottle for 25 dollars good price but !! Canceled the order because It was $15 dollars for shipping hopefully that charges .
Hahaha!! I did the exact same thing! 🤣
Better to get a few things at ounce to make the shipping worth it. Thanks for watching
Sorry to hear that, we're constantly working to lower our prices with UPS. If you're outside the state or live in Hawaii like Jeremy that's just always going to be an issue.
We use real-time quotes from UPS that calculates for the actual products size for shipping. Hopefully you can pick some up in a future larger order, it's really amazing as a drying aid!
@@ObsessedGarage I’m in Connecticut. I’ve been ordering a lot of stuff and never paid that much for shipping I enjoy watching OG hopefully this changes because I will definitely ordering stuff . Thank you .
@@ROBERT-eg4ys I'm also in CT. If You want it badly enough, You will get it, with shipping charges or not. Once You buy it, You'll love it! You'll forget about shipping charges!!
Are these drying aids and spray waxes etc gonna clog up the drying towels? The OG is very similar to XTreme solutions Topper but without the pink color or any fragrance. Same blending shop makes both. B&B If I recall
Use a goo microfiber detergent and there is no problem with the towels. amzn.to/3EFJteN
Great review man quick and on point 💪🏼🤙🏼
Thanks I appreciate it.
Another great video Jeremy!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Any feedback on how this compares to Formula 4 from Superior Products? (if you've tried that one?) I ask because that's the one I see a lot of pro detailers using, so curious on your thoughts between the two. Thanks!
I am not familiar with those products. Sorry. Thanks for watching
A lot of Pro Detailers uses Superior cause they are cheap and you can buy in bulk. Good for businesses. Superior Products to me just like 3D/Cartec. Good if you buy in bulk for businesses purposes.
But the High End Pro Detailers always uses Gyeon, Carpro, Koch Chemie and Modesta.
Thank you both for your responses!
Can you do a regular bath towel vs these high end microfiber drying towels?
Yes and no. If you use a towel that’s is not soft enough it will mar the paint over time. It will also not hold enough water to finish without being saturated. It’s worth the 20 bucks. You won’t look back after you buy it. Thanks for watching
Yeah if you like overspending on a below average detailing spray, definitely buy this.
What are you using?
It actually has Si02 in it so it does have protection im sure it doesn't last that long. It's actually from b&b blending called slipstream its pink. Matt changed the color and sent.
Yes. It definitely does has some great short term durable protection. It will last easily til the next wash cycle and beyond. In my opinion I like a light durability product for a drying aid so that I am not spraying heavy duty sealants on top of one another. Because of this I can comfortably use this drying aid each and every time I wash the car no matter how often I do it. This gives me the lubrication that Is needed to dry the car without loading up my ceramic coating. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts.
Nice garage....i like your set-up
Thanks
Would you say it’s safe to use on my Model 3’s vinyl matte green wrap? I use a Ryobi leaf blower that does extremely well. But I’ve noticed that lately, the water seems to really stick to my windows and wrapped panels more than usual.
Yes it will work great on there. Always test a small area to be 100% sure.
@@HawaiiDetailing Thanks! I’ll pick some up this week and test it out.
I'm taking your word for it and I'm willing to try it😀 out....
It’s really slick feeling and easy to use. I like it. You will too. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel
@@HawaiiDetailing Yes. It worked pretty good.
@@georgeg8130 good to hear. It’s slick and easy to apply. That’s what I like.
Pound for pound is this better than bead maker?
How would you compare this to rinseless as a drying aid? is it slicker?
Way slicker than a rinseless
what's the difference between CarPro Reload and Obsessed garage Drying Aid...or do you/can you apply Drying Aid over Reload??
Sorry Tony I have not used reload. They are similar for sure. I use a drying aid after each wash and no need to worry about reloading. Thanks for watching

Can you lay a coat of wax after using Drying Aid? Or Beadmaker after using Drying Aid?
I don’t think you will need it. That stuff has a great slick glossy finish. I would use it instead of a wax. Put it on each time you dry the car. You will like it for sure. Thanks for watching

Would like to get your opinion on OG drying aid vs Beadmaker
I think they are both great products in this category. I would say that OG is a little slicker on the paint and a little easier to use but they are both really easy. I would use either one with no hesitations. Thanks for watching

How does it compare to diy details ceramic gloss?
Ceramic gloss has protection, this has little to none. As its name states, its a drying aid. I wonder how it compares to a rinseless as a drying aid.
How bad/strong is the vinegar smell? (Vinegar is one of the worst smells in the world to me. Lol)
I have not noticed any vinegar smell. Thanks for watching
What was next to beadmaker purple stuff
Can this be used as a quick detailer ?
Yes but be careful whenever wiping a car that is not freshly cleaned
I bought a gallon of this stuff, posting before I watch so let’s hope it’s good lol
You'll love it! Thanks for the support Matt!
Its good. Let me know how it goes when you try it. Thanks
Technician's Choice TEC582 Ceramic Detail Spray dilution 1:1is what I been using.
Thanks for sharing.
Do you need a drying aid if your car is ceramic coated
Yes. If you towel dry it’s best to use an drying aid to lubricate the surface and it also makes the surface slick, hydrophobic and keeps the ceramic coating in top shape underneath.
Can you use this product on a ceramic coated vehicle?
Yes for sure. That is where it works best
Love your content.
Thanks a lot.
Do you find it smells like it has a hint of vinegar
I did not get that but will do another take on the smell. It’s kinda a fresh smell to me. Definitely not a bad smell at all.
I’ve been using it I love it on the windows but for some reason I’m getting some blotchy results on the paint. I must be doing something wrong.
Spray on and wipe around the panel. Flip towel to dry side and lightly polish off. Don’t let it dry and don’t use it on a hot panel that has been in the sun. Should buff off easy with no residue.
Should I be applying it to a wet vehicle? I usually use my leave blower to get most of the water off then use the drying aid.
That's fine too. I do that also. Just be sure to use enough product so that you are not dragging the towel over a dry panel.
Good stuff.
Yeah. Thanks for watching
👍🏻
karneet Slipstream - Gallon. The same and costs much less.

@@HawaiiDetailing Thank you!
You used this just like a detail spray or topper. There are too many other products that provide better protection and shine. Having a product specifically for use as a “drying aid” really isn’t needed today.
Thanks for commenting. I guess the question would be what are the better products in this category? I have used a lot of them over the years. I personally found this drying aid provided everything that I wanted and also has good solid short term protection as well as incredibly slick and glossy. On top of a ceramic coating that is exactly what I want. This and bead maker are my 2 favorite choices in this category.
Beadmaker is still a better value for money.
Bead maker is still a great choice.

Never. That's the fun part. I have to make myself laugh at least a few times each video. You should see the stuff I cut out during editing. Hahahaha.
@@HawaiiDetailing when will the bloopers be released?
First
Yeahhh. There he is. Nice. You are on the winning team.
forget drying aides unless you're a mobile detailer in the sun all day everyday like some of us . you UA-cam detailers don't have a real purpose for doing this step or using this product as you're in your ac garages lol your car is already blemish and dirt free and coated with ceramics so just use your blower and air compressor to evacuate water off your hydrophobic surfaces a quality soft drying towel to get any excess. you don't even need to use towels if you have a ceramic coated car. you should do what you can to reduce the amount of wiping and touching at all costs. not add reasons....but i get it, you want likes and subscribers so you promote bottles of O.G product to wipe on and off as much as possible... makes sense but in reality. you don't want to touch or apply anything to the paint if you don't have to.
Most of us true detailers are in the sweltering heat and sun and the major purpose of a drying aide is to reduce the evaporation of hard water because it's leaving the mineral deposits on the paint... drying aides drastically reduce water spotting in the direct sunlight and that's why we use it
You're correct the mobile guys out washing vehicles in the elements are the true detailers. I did it for a few years and you have to know how to utilize products from being in the sun because everything will dry up instantly and just cause a whole mess.
Let's be honest none of these youtuber's cars are out on the road daily getting hammered so they always get to show them in immaculate condition. Start spraying/applying these products in 100 degree weather full sun then let them come talk about it.
