Ricardo Vaz 4 hours ago Notice what is funny: Christina Aguilera really knows how to be a vocalist. But she started singing from a violent, bad ground in her life when she was kid. She opened up the windows while her father was hitting her mother and she used to sing out loud not to hear that, and she did the same to her sister, singer very loud to her sister not hear those violence screams. Its very hard a teacher comes and say "oh shes doing it wrong/ its not healthy" man she still got that VOICE, almost 40 years since she started singing when she was child. She def has her own way to sing, shes not trying to copy anyone. Remember, sing is a form of expression from soul, heart. I saw very tecnically singers out there with zero emotion. So...
Hi Dorian! The song really fits the epic quality we see of the film. I'll be watching it later today. Christina is perfect singing this! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Great and informative video! I'm interested to know your thoughts on her performance of I Loves You Porgy that she did and her approach in contrast to how she approached 2020 Reflection, if you ever decide to do another video on Christina Aguilera. Thanks for your insights!
Thanks for your professional review. I think this song refreshed Christina’s career and reminded us how powerful her voice is. Btw, you can check out official Russian version of this soundtrack (by manizha).
Random, but you totally give me Finding Neverland Vibes. I could see you playing J. M. Barrie or Charles Frohman in that show. and if you and doctor disney were to ever do a duet cover of 'when your feet don't touch the ground', i wouldn't complain. ;-)
You are the idea man, Kurtis! Thanks, as always. I'll looks these up. I have so much to catch up on with the new shows. DD and I just may surprise you, too! ;)
Hi Jan! Thanks for writing in. Do you mean the note at which she pulls back and sings in a kind of head voice? I find it best to listen to that note in context of all those consecutive questions when she scoops into the top notes in the phrases just prior to the final note I think you mean. It finalizes the section by putting a button on it with that note. I find the entire progression notable. I will play that part over in my head first when I think of the song.
how does she change to head voice when she says "water" without losing control?, I've never really liked her but some of the things she does with her voice are awesome.
Thank you for the suggestion Lovelydaisies Cervantes! I had another commenter request that too. It sounds interesting. If enough people like and request it, I'll put it on my 'soon to do' list.
Hi y c, You may be right, as they are very similar, but the guzheng, a type of zither, usually sounds more harp-like and has a more nasal quality to my ears. The pipa, a fretted lute, is more forward sounding along the lines of an American banjo and similarly is played with finger picks. It has a pronounced twang (though they both do effect a twang) to the sound as in this song's orchestration. I tried researching the actual instrumentation but only found an article saying that both the pipa and guzheng are used in the film score. Good question, though! Either way, using a Chinese folk instrument lends an evocative flair to the telling of a traditional tale.
@@DayleSong Yea definitely hard to tell just through audio, but usually I hear pipa being played with the signature "tremolo". I just watched her live version of this song and there was indeed the guzheng player in the background
@@lilshadowyc That may be our answer then! The performance in the song has neither the most typical harp arpeggio of the guzheng nor the signature tremolo of the pipa, so it is hard to tell by audio alone. How did you come to know Chinese folk Instruments? I had investigated traditional Chinese music years ago because I liked the sound of these instruments.
