Actually there is an easy way to put cards on the buttom of the deck - if you grab a card using LMB and then also press RMB - card would be "pushed into the table". And it then you slide it onto your deck - it would go at the buttom. This is better to be done in a smooth, plane part of a table so card and deck would be on a same level. But this allow you to scry or mulltigan without, well, all that stuff with moving deck. And some other stuff - if you press number keys while hovering over the deck - you would draw that much cards, so hover over deck, press 3 and get your Concentrate (or Ancestral Recall) covered. And with search - this numbers that appears near it while you hover search option is handy too, because it allow you to search this many cards on top of your deck, so you could search->3 to see only 3 cards on top of the deck. One minor stuff - if you then want to place something under the deck for scrying, in example, you need to close search window. And last thing - you could select multiple cards while pressing CTRL. So this way you could easily move many cards that are not exactly near each other for example. And when cards are selected - you could hover over a deck, for example, and press "G" - it would group them up and this way you could, for example, select 2 cards, hover over graveyard and G-roup them into it, sending them there (just remember that this way cards would be placed on top of the deck, so if you want to shuffle some cards into the deck - don't forget to press R And yeah, MTG Forge is a neat tool too. Maybe not so Userfriendly and you need to tinker a little to get multiplayer working, but it is still an amazing free tool with almost all cards, fully scripted and with a way to play against AI (not that smart, but still) on different mods. A good place, in example, to try out your new stax EDH deck without torturing your friends (or to refine a deck before playing with friends, so you could torture them more efficently!)
The thing about Cockatrice is that it's free, so it's actually the true cheapest way to play Magic. TTS does have more options for table layouts and the like though.
@@Cosper79I never tried cockatrice as I heard it didn’t have rules enforcement and you just had to hope you opponent wasn’t doing something sketchy…. Whether that is true or not I use Xmage which is essentially just Mtgo but more clunky/ugly but the client and cards are free. Supports almost all formats and the feature that is really neat is that you can draft literally any set ever and Cubes. My group is about to draft alpha/beta then just move chronologically forward set by set.
That's great to hear, thank you. I'll likely do a video on proxies more broadly at some point, it's a nuanced topic. But broadly speaking WOTC aren't concerned with reproduction cards which are not trying to deceive, and generally that means they only care about it in paper play.
I actually hadn’t heard of that, I’m going to spend some time seeing how far I get with it. Personally what appeals to me about TTS is how simple it is to setup and use compared to stuff like xMage, and how much it feels like real paper magic. Thanks for letting me know
@@TapDoubt that’s fair! I remeber using TTS during lockdown to play magic in VR with friends, with,,, limited success haha. But yeah I highly reccomend cockatrice bc it’s completely free, albeit a bit finnikey, but it’s how I taught a bunch of friends magic!
@@TapDoubtI can vouch. I just started using Cockatrice. I had a friend who had some reservations about using TTS because of some controversies with the creators. But Cockatrice has been fantastic so far. Access to every card ever printed, keeps track of everyone's actions, customizable shortcuts, card search filter, it's really nice.
Technically it doesn't need to be in scryfall! Their are a number of scripted tables for mtg which includes their functions on any card! I have Infinitokens saved and am able to use the power/toughness, +1/+1 counters, etc. on them.
Thanks for letting me know, I was wondering about this earlier today actually, I had a video idea to add horsemanship to some cards and see if anyone noticed. Wouldn't be possible if I was limited to only WOTC designed cards.
You don't necessarily need to use scryfall. If you use frogtown for a basic land or something, you can edit the json of the card to put any doable .jpg or what have you, on the front side of the card, and bish bash bosh. Used this technique to play customs, at all, and also to play clavin LCC guy, when he got leaked.
You can just use the command 'scryfall ' and it makes a card for you. Then copy/paste the name and description from another card for the format and edit til your heart's content.
So i was just experimenting with this to try and learn how to use it before my friends and i play on saturday, but it crashed, is this a common occurence, is there any way to save while playing so i can get back the board the way it was?
It’s been suggested elsewhere in the comments, I’ve not put a tonne of time into it yet but I’m not sure I’d say ‘better’. It’s different, it depends on what you’re looking for.
@@TapDoubt"better" in the way that it require less money than table top simulator and require less powerful pc wich technically make it even cheaper :)

Ah thank you so much, that was the one bit of the video where I was like "I'm definitely doing this wrong but I can't work out the easier way.
it is actually uneral how CRIMINALLY underused tabletop sim s for mtg given how fucking well it works.. its jsut so good.
Looking for players?
Nice recommendation, me and my friends are currently using cockatrice, but this looks like a really nice improvement

Wait Cockatrice is still around? I thought it got canned?

TTS is the goat for online EDH. Me and my buddies play on it pretty often.
At first I thought it was a joke video. But that is really useful. I didn't think it would be legal to use the card images in such way

A cheaper way to play is cockatrice! Which is free, although it is very manual.

xmage is trash tbh, it struggles to handle the mechanics, where as cockatrice is all manual. Strongly recommend.@@TapDoubt
thanks for the demo, clear and concise.

How were you able to change it to make it so tapping is a full 90 degree turn?

Cockatricr is better

TTS is like a ten year old game that I could run on my Pentium G3220, it's fine lmao.
MTG: Arena is Free to Play. Just sayin'.
I mean, I did address that in the intro but sure
So go play a game of commander with your friends there
use cockatrice as well its free
