Got one in the mobile paired with a White Tornado 225 plus and Wilson 5000 Antenna and Breedlove mount. Great reports on sideband. Great review Rooster!
I think the SWR beep tone is awesome very easy to set your antenna match first radio I have ever seen with that feature very cool they say the Rodger beep is very weak not a big deal I don't really use it anyway another important thing about this radio it does have a service manual available for technicians
After much consideration, this radio is my base station on an antron w/gpk at 50 feet, in the desert here in central Oregon. Top of the line, in 11 meter communication. I hope to add a small amp soon.
I have used that same radio as my base set up too. I use other radios from time to time, but this radio is still in service as a main unit. I have used radios for years without an amp, but I do say a little kl203 is a nice addition. It's a neat radio. If you leave the weather alert on you will wet your bed.
Neat radio I'm going to enjoy this paired with the rm203p when i get the rest of my stuff hooked up ill point the house toward Tenn give you a shout out Thanks again Rooster for a easy transaction
Think you’ll find that president has a electret element mic which is responsible for its killer audio. I think that’s a fcc radio isn’t it for power and no extra channels. Really like a lincoln 2 plus I have but it’s been replaced by a anytone 5555n now. Note I’m a SSB guy.
And I saw a converter that switches from a 6 pin to a four pin so u can use a power mic do u have these and what is ur thoughts on the difference between regular mic and a power mic thank u rooster
@@Rooster_Radio so I want to order one of the adapters I ask about and the Italy rm 503 not the hp just 503 like u had on the McKinley video how do I need to contact u to make the purchase and get u paid
I'm waiting for President to wake up and put FM on the McKinley...(they already did with their export model and some of their other CB radios here in the US, so why not the McKinley? Whatever, I'd like to have all 3 options -- AM, SSB and FM. -- BR
Well I ask and rooster answered about the mics I went back to the videos and I have the McKinley set up with the 203 am not as good as rooster but got the swr's as good as I could not sure what antenna he is running I have a K40 antenna I think big coils 20.000 watt and I'm getting great complaints about roughly 175 watts my next deal is the 503 not the HD just 503 rooster did the video and together he was getting good power 375 watt if I remember right that will be my next combo
AND ALSO AS HE SAID IN HIS VIDEO the match with the 203 would make a decent driver also as I said I get roughly 175 out of my set up and I bet rooster could set it up and probably get more out of it thanks for the videos and answering questions
@@Rooster_Radio Ya I watched the whole fumbling around vid. Yes anything can be modded. You might want to just show a stock radio performance OR reiterate that the radio has been modded. Clears a lot of confusion.
@@Rooster_Radio can you show us how you did the mods I mean if you're using the proper equipment it's not like we could do it at home people don't have those kinds of machines just laying around or are you just using that bird meter
@@cqlegend7620 No, I'm not going to give lessons on how to do mods or what mods are done. There are plenty of channels out there that may do that. There are also plenty of shops that charge $25 or more just to show you a demo of your radio before you get it. I fall into neither category. Radios from here will have loud and clear modulation over the air.
@@cqlegend7620 Rooster is not going to show how he did the mod and he doesn’t have to. It’s not a how to vid. He’s running a business. Adjust it to factory specs with a 203 and you will get out. With Roosters mod you can run a bigger amp that wants more drive into it. Totally respect that.👍🏼
@@Rooster_Radio ok so I know roughly what the 503 pieces run urs might be a little cheaper what is the price on the radio and the tune up and match with a 503 total I guess what I'm asking and could u make a video of the process I guess u use a 3ft jumper and guess coax depends on the antenna

Well I don't get nearly the power results Rooster did on my Mckinley but then again mine is factory stock and measured on my MFJ-870 meter. It's no Bird for sure. I get 4 watt carrier max and a swing to 12 watts. No big deal as it works great on my KL 503 NON HD which is what I would recommend than the HD for this stock radio. It's also cheaper than the HD. When on the road I have a little kl 203 on the Mckinley's back and from Western MA spoke to England loud and clear this year. Lot's of fun!
That’s cool! Yup factory settings. Mine was set low from factory and would barely swing to 6-7w on AM and SSB. How many watts does your radio push that 503? Cause that amp is on my list.
@@rallypoint1 I am a SSB guy. My MFJ-870 says on the KL-503's position 4 a solid 200 with slight swing to 220 to 230 PEP. On position 5 240 watts with a bit more swing and position 6 290 with a little swing. The amp is usually on position 4 or more rarely 5. The amp never breaks a sweat and my horizontal dipole's swr is 1.1 With the amp on between 1.2 to 1.3. When doing swr checks or rarely speaking on AM I lower my dead key to 1.5 watts which is a great feature of the radio. On SSB it is wide open.
@@turboomni848 Hey I am SSB guy too👍🏼 Kinda dismal lately but kinda active today in SoCal. I have a 203 and it puts out around 180w pep in my truck with engine running. On AM I keep it at 2w and SSB full tilt 5w. It gets out there unless the big strappers are out and playing. Talked Coast to Coast, Mexico to Canada. Hey thanks for the numbers on your station. Gives me an idea on what to expect. Although I was looking at a Hopper 2 pill with SSB as well.😈
@@rallypoint1 yeah I hear ya on spotty skip conditions. Well just to add to the mix of variables in power output. I run my Mckinley with a 203 in my truck like I said and as a base before I got my KL-503 non HD. On the same MFJ-870 meter as a base the 203 showed 100 watts PEP on SSB ,same radio and antenna and power supply.
I have the same radio, meter and amps. 503 for base and had a 203p that I sold off. I have a Stryker SR-A10 antenna for the base. Not the best choice for a base, but I'm in a condo so it's all I can do.

How are the stock mics on the President Line of radios?
The radios are impressive with the amount of features they offer.
Personally I think they do good
Have you compared the swr readings on the radio to an external meter? Mine conflicted badly to the external meter.

is the Electret Microphone the same as my delta force magnum stock power mic powered by the radio
What power connection options are there for AC socket, for solar panels, car batteries, car cigaret socket, power pank, ...?
which portable case/box is adived for the MC Kinley to inclue battery and antenna?
