Very nice job . I have these radios and they work great for me. I like the weather channel, for 2 of them are in my trucks. Thank you for the video, 73s!
Thanks for the video. I got a brand new RFX95HD sitting in the box. After watching this vid i decided to give it a go. I got stopped dead in my tracks when it came to the 8v transmit. Ive tested every (non surface mount) points and only found one that had 4.5volts on transmit. I'm not going to attemp soldering to any surface mount points. This project is on hold. Lol.
@@TheRadioGarage Thanks for the encouragement. I'll give it another go. Guess I got too frustrated with it. One of these days I'm gonna learn to walk away at that point and come back with a clear head. (HOPEFULLY) 😄👍
Colorado 191 "Radio station of the Rockies" here, Nice job! I've been watching your vid's for just a little while now and see that you do some quality work. As you said in one of your other video's you get frustrated with other tech's not doing such a great job. I understand very well how that is. I'm still looking for a good tech to take care of a few of my radio's that, unfortunately in my opinion, were not upgraded right, for lack of better words, by other, so called excellent technicians. I have sent you an email to discuss this misfortune. I have just received my 959B that I need you to work on. Right out of the box it seems like a good radio. So now we wait for your response. Thanks for the great vids and keep them coming
How you doing Matt? Always coming up with new and original rigs to add to the world of sound. Pretty Awesome!!! And a great contact to Ireland on Video at that. 💪
Oh I'm doing alright. I was super stoked with that contact being that I have an absolutely terrible antenna setup. Just an a99 up about 20ft in a tree. No tower or beam here 😎👍👊💥
I'll just stick to my Yaesu FT-991a which has the MARS mod so I can use it on 11 meters (CB 27 MHz). Cheers from an old Ham & 73 from K9POW in eastern TN
3/2023: Questions: The new CB radios with FM don't come with AM/SSB. Why not? Since there are very few new radios with FM yet, would I be better off buying a new radio AM with SSB? CB world sells new radios that have been "peaked and tuned". Is there really any reason to pay more for this feature when buying a new radio? Thanks in advance and Best Regards
Good day fellow Pennsylvanian I just bought a President McKinley and would really like to put that after market amp. let me know if you still work on radios and would be interested in doing that to my McKinley
Those radioes look really really professional grade ,, looks like a Motorola police radio . Do they have a good quality feel to them ? A little bit of weight to them ?
Yep stock mic does just fine. I just like a little bit of echo though so personal preference. The ranger sra-198 mic I tried as well..didn't really like that combo
I would say just grab something small and cheap. Like a cobra 19 mini. That way if it gets all boogered up off-road it's not a huge deal. Thanks for following the channel.
@@TheRadioGarage you're welcome my friend oh okay sounds good just keep me updated please I can't wait to get it and try some dx and talk to some local friends some of them live about 50 miles away from me and they can't hear me with no amp 73's and God bless
Looks like a great upgrade, Do you a direct Email that I may contact you. Walcott did and upgrade on my new Mckinley, called Performance boost and alignment -That disables the 24V operation, But when I asked for more details about the upgrade that they charge $40.00 dollars for all they would tell me is ( We increase your transmit power using pre existing components in the radio.) Is that even possible and has anyone had experience with this upgrade
Nice radio Matt, great video. Let us all know when you start talking repairs again. Thanks

I actually forgot about the weather feature. 👍
Nice setup for installing in a small space in a vehicle!

Awesome Video ! Nice radio Gregg!

Great job keep it up my friend..73's
Nice contact to Ireland
Nice little radio. Sounds like a talker on ssb 👍🏼👍🏼
It holds its own..no ranger drift either for the ssb lovers 😎👍
Do you sell this mod as a kit? Is it a replacement FET with heat sink? Please let me know if I can order?

Yep pretty solid built rig. Definitely a heavier, thicker chassis than something like a cobra 29
Been waiting for this video
I like that radio Matt, did you happen to try the stock mic? Or even the ranger mic, how do you think they would sound?
Yep stock mic does just fine. I just like a little bit of echo though so personal preference. The ranger sra-198 mic I tried as well..didn't really like that combo
Love your vids! My buddy has a teryx utv and he wants a durable radio to put in it. What would you recommend? He goes off road and thru mud, dust etc.

This may work well with the new FM model as well
Awesome radio if you can get contact from Ireland you're doing good
Yea considering my antenna setup. I ain't got no tower or beam
WoW I like that 👍🏿
I want one like that.
What would I attach the blue wire to on a cobra 25 ltd classic for the 8v for the R/T relay
What antenna would you recommend to pair with the McKinley? I’m an expediter OTR . Needing a mag mount antenna
I have a K30 mag mount at the moment
sweet
Where did you get thenRFX?
is there a bluetooth adapter for the President McKinley to connect with smartphone?
Not sure about that.
That's pretty awesome and one of the radios I was looking at. How would that rf deck work on a Lincoln 2+ though
I wouldn't really put one on that radio since it already puts out a good amount of power.
@@TheRadioGarage ok. I'm looking for about 125 ssb watts.
@@chrispierce2942 I would just stick a 2 pill behind it if you have the room.
@@TheRadioGarage it's a mobile setup in a Nissan frontier. Very little room. The rci 99n2 was my other choice

Only 40 channels
Thank you very much friend 73s
You can still get that amplifier and where, thank you in advance.
Nice job Matt
Thanks, probably another 2 weeks for your order by the way. They are behind on builds right now.

Does it have any issues with heating up?
Nope. The RFX95HD has a large heatsink built in. Also can always add a fan to the heatsink if you are wanting extra cooling.
What happened to your road king radio videos? Not carrying them anymore?
Unfortunately no..can't really get into it. Nothing to do with the radios performance though.
@@TheRadioGarage understand that bud. Keep up the great work. 73s sir.
So cool
👌
Rfx95hd and a president richard can they be paired together?????
No, can't do that one
Are you able to add more power (watts) to the president richard?
🇦🇺😎👍
