There is always Bottom, with Rik and Ade, it is as fully insane as The Young Ones. There are x3 Seasons of 6 episodes each. But even better than the episodes are the live stage performances, the spontaneity in those is nothing short of brilliant.
I'm actually not so sure about Bottom being as insane as The Young Ones. Bottom is excellent but The Young Ones has that style where it feels like ANYTHING can happen and Bottom doesn't quite have that in my opinion. For me at least Bottom has always felt like a toned down version of The Young Ones. I feel bad for saying that because The Young Ones and Bottom are both fantastic shows and I have a special place in my heart for both shows but yeah... If you put a gun to my head and made me choose between the two I would pick The Young Ones! 😂
@@HammerHeart3229 Welp, you do have 4 lunatics as opposed to 2 lunatics. But in defense of Bottom, the live stage shows are considerably longer, which has advantages of short season episodes vaguely strung together.
If no more Young Ones makes you sad, please do Comic Strip Presents (featuring Rik, Ade, Nigel, Dawn, Jennifer, etc). They're all great stories and funny but Bad News is probably most like Young Ones out of any of them.
And that fact that they actually walked out on stage at Donnington Monsters Of Rock and played a set as "Bad News" is amazing, The amount of Piss Bottles that were thrown them must have been a record :D The album they released it worth a listen also....."Warriors of Genghis Khan" is amazing track :)
You are correct, Rick's pretend girlfriend is indeed Jennifer Saunders. And her real life husband is Vyvyan - Ade Edmondson. They actually married each other in May 1985, just one year after this show aired.
Yes, that was Jennifer Saunders. I will continue to advocate for you react to Absolutely Fabulous (Ab-Fab), a sit-com starring Jennifer Saunders, Joanna Lumley and Julia Sawahla.
A little background info, Dawn: The Young Ones came out of the scene that formed around a London "punk rock" comedy club, The Comic Strip, in the late 1970s. The main double acts were college friends Ade Edmondson (Vyvyan) and Rik Mayall (Rik) as 20th Century Coyote, and Peter Richardson and Nigel Planer (Neil). But Alexei Sayle was also there, and other double acts included Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders, and Mark Arden and Stephen Frost. The latter two duos made cameos in most if not all Young Ones episodes as they had all become friends and had similar ideas of comedy. Arden and Frost were the two trying to get into the party during Interesting, Dawn French was the Christian loony in that episode and Jennifer Saunders was one of the guests, etc. If you re-watch the episodes you'll be able to spot them eventually. It took me some time to figure this out when I was young and watching them for the first time. Also, Ade Edmondson married Jennifer Saunders and they've been together for over 30 years!
When this first showed in Australia, there was no warning. Me and my friends just went “ What the ‘ F ‘ is this “ and just couldn’t believe what we were seeing. It was a total crack up, it was great 👍 Totally love you sweetie 🌹 Top channel

With Vicar of Dibley, I do like the side characters in it, but also the End after-credits bit with Dawn and the Young Lady of whom I can't recall the name. Sadly as far as I recall she did pass away in real life, and they did a dedication to her at some point.

You know what, man? I was watching a Father Brown episode the other day and saw Nigel, Niel. And since he wasn't speaking Stoner, I was only able to figure out who he was because of one of those Niel expressions. If memory serves, this is Jennifer Saunders' third Young Ones appearance... which leads me to my suggestion: if you haven't indulged already, you must, must must and must try Absolutely Fabulous next! This was a massive cult hit in America in the early 90s but was sadly only on for a few seasons. Saunders stars as Edina, an aging alcoholic mother who is hilariously selfish and longs to hang on to her reckless party-life youth with her best (and only) friend Patsy, played by Joanna Lumley. It's a comedy gem and well worth your time!!

French and Saunders did their own show as a team for a while, but they're probably best known separately: French for "The Vicar Of Dibley" and Saunders for "Absolutely Fabulous"
Time is only my fifth favorite of the Season Two episodes, but that still means it is much better than almost anything I see on TV today, so big bonus there. I remember the story about how the first season of Monty Python was ignored by the BBC management and put in a dead zone as far as the time it was scheduled, so the Pythons took advantage of that and put in so much stuff that never would have been allowed if anyone had been paying attention at the BBC. So when it became wildly popular and the BBC started paying attention to the season two scripts and telling them they couldn't do stuff, they could say "Well, you let us do this and more last year, so why is it an issue now?" and the BBC had to shut up and let them do what they wanted. 😀 That said, I don't think a new Fawlty Towers with John Cleese will be quite so over the top, but that'll potentially be his choice and no one else's.
I am very very glad that you're doing reaction videos to the show The Young ones, is there anyway that you can do reaction videos after that, 4 show called Derry girls that takes place in Northern Ireland in the 1990's?
