I kinda have a similar story (although his story is greater and more inspirational). But I want to share mine too, might inspire others I guess. I used to be one of the lowest in class. Back in elementary, I remember my grade 1 teacher asked the class who got "D" (fail grade) in their cards, so I raised my hand. That time I was only a child, very honest and doesn't know how to lie. After I raised my hand, everybody in the class laughed at me. I cried because I felt bullied. I didn't shine much like other students. I never had grades bigger than 85. I was a below average student. I remember my mom used to beat me for having low grades (I still love my mom and we're okay so don't bash). But I understand her, she did her best to teach me at home, yet I still fail my exams. I had a hard time in class, especially in English and Math. I had some tutors tho. I remember having good feedbacks coming from my tutors. They say that I learn fast. But I don't know, when it comes to class, I forget everything they teach me. I think I perform better at one on one with my teacher and without classmates around. But then, my grades reached its lowest when I was in grade 5. I got addicted to anime so bad that it affected my already bad grades. My mom had to beg my math teacher to do everything just so I can make it to 75. I used to daydream as well at becoming a participant in some competitions and seminars back in elementary, but all I can do was cheer for my smart classmates. But everything changed when I entered highschool. During my grade 7 years, my grades became average. I was able to have 80-86 grades in all of my subjects. I couldn't believe myself. From below average grades to average. Then slowly my grades were getting better and better. From grade 7-9, I became top 3 in our class for 3 consecutive years and received an award every quarter. I still couldn't believe that I achieved that. It wasn't my goal. I never even imagined myself to stand among the smartest in our class. All I did was to diligently do my assignments, and study for every quizzes and exams. I never had a goal in mind to join the listers, just wanna do my role as a student. It was also a miracle how I get picked as participants in seminars and compete during interschool competitions especially in Math! My weakness! Then at the end of year 9 in junior high, my teacher sent a message to our group chat. It was the list of students who made it in the honor's list. He said that he wrote our names in order (wrote our names based on the grades we garnered). I was shocked to see when my name was first on the list. I replied to my teacher and said, "Sir, are you surr about this list? I think you made typo. Why is my name first in line?" I was certain he made a mistake. I am always 3rd in class so how am I able to beat those 2 smarter classmates in brains!? But no, it was real. Then everything became spicier in my 10th grade. For the 1st quarter, I became top 1 in class. But I wasn't happy, because I felt that I didn't deserve it. I felt bad for the original top 1 in class, his mom did not let him enter their house. How could I be happy if I know someone is suffering because of it? But I didn't wish for it. It was never my goal to be even be on the honor's list. I just wanted to pass highschool, that's all. So being able to enter the listers was like a bonus for me. It wasn't really a big deal whether I enter the list or not. It was coincidence I would say that I became one of the top students in my class. But in 2nd and 3rd quarters, I became top 3 again. But it didn't matter to me whether my grades decline or climb up since all I care about is to graduate. I'm not asking for more since I am used to being one of the lowest in class. So even having 90+ average was too much of a gift for me, what more being in the top 3. But at the end of it all, I graduated as top 1 of our class. I remember myself receiving that top 1 medal, and going back to the stage again and again because the emcee keep on calling my name to receive those extra medals (medals for excelling in certain subjects). Seriously, it's so surreal to receive those amount of medals and graduate as top 1 from a below average student. Mind you, I do not mean to brag about this. In fact, it's my first time sharing it ever after I graduated and it has been 3 years since. I hope my story inspired some of you. If there's one thing I realized, it's that my brain cells are actually late bloomers. Hahaha. To every students who are experiencing low grades, don't worry, perhaps it's not your time yet to shine, but when the time comes, you'll shine brighter than the brightest star. Trust me. I couldn't believe myself either for achieving those. It seemed impossible, but everything is possible as long as you're determined! Btw, I mentioned that I was bad at English, but my English significantly improved after reading english subtitles from animes I've watched. Altho my English isn't perfect but it works!
I'm so happy at the progress you made I was somewhat simlair my self back in elementary school but since high school my grades just keep getting better year after year and it feels so good becusd I remember wheb I was told back in elementary I want gonna graduate high school but now a get A's in alot of my classes. Man you make it sound like becoming a lawyer is a piece of cake. You have to go to 3 years of law school and then pass the bar and get a year of job experience as a lawyer because law school doesn’t teach you to be a lawyer. That’s basically 5 years setting aside solely to become a lawyer after 4 years of university. Doctor’s route is even more extreme with more schooling and years spent to get a PhD. I think he should become a lawyer if that’s what he wants. Be the best lawyer and he will be richer than any doctor. But if he becomes a doctor and he doesn’t even want it, he will get burned out and regret his decision later. It’s important to choose a career that you actually want. Not what looks good.

because of the financial hurdles others put before us, so many people never get the opportunity to succeed! It is awesome he did it without spending thousands on hagwon and tutors. But to get into that school he had to have fairly okay grades. Let go of this rank system.
Can u share on how you study un a day or week ? , Or any study plans?
Much appreciated , and very inspiring story

How did you stop your addiction with anime,I'm having a problem with time management too,the anime keeps uploading new episodes and I can't stop watching them and my grades dropped
In 1 month i also have my college entrance exams, while studying i need to take care of my disabled mom, i rlly want to become a doctor to take care of my mom, so his story is inspiring💕
I can relate with him...💜
I am so sorry...

@@AlkaSingh-jp9cx why lol? It's called fighting for what you really want, something most people can't do! Nothing comes easy in this world, and the earlier you realize this the better.

The story sounds like an anime story, and is perfect for an anime.

Congratulations Yoong joon you are amazing student. Keep it up . love from Pakistan 💜 i work hard because I want to korean for further studies south korea is my dream country 😢
Considering his situation he has achieved the unachievable. Great job 👏
Well done to you mate, I'm using your success to model my future trajectory off!
God bless this guy, wow
what a king, truly inspiring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WELL WE KNOW HE IS THE REAL "BAD GENIUS" FOR SURE.
I have two siblings. My elder brother has to stay in a hostel to attend his classes at a engineering university. He came home every weekend . I am in class 10. My father can't afford tuition for me. It is hard for him to support three children. Still I am a top student in my class. Sometimes I also feel like if I could attend extra tuition to get help with my studies.
Many Koreans suffer from over studying and anxiety and depression because of school, just know that after you finish school you'll get a job and work for the next 50 years before retiring and true content is when you're satisfied with what you have and with what you don't have. My message is do what you like and don't be forced to do anything. Don't let s stupid 2 digit number on a paper determine your future or make you think you're less smart because you scored less than someone, I've never been to a Capitalist society so do not fully know how it works with you but something you need to know is when you get a job they won't care about your degree, they will care about your experience and the knowledge you gained so let that sink in.
In india we have something called IIT-JEE and trust me we have to study like hell for this.🙂🙂
I'm from Malaysia and I wish all the best for those who will face this exam or any types of exam out there cause we all know how hard it's can get whenever we face it.If you fail please never think of anything that will bring harm to yourself or think that you're worthless.Believe if you get what you want then that's God direction but when you fail that's God protection for you. Keep fighting and never lost hope!😊❤️✨
But we've mbbs also and upsc
NEET too
In the Philippines, we don't have these kind of exams. If you want to enroll in a specific university, you just have to pass their entrance exams.
@@zjwiya it could be hard to give multiple entrance exams. thats why we have IIT-JEE.
That's what I think
I'm so proud of you!
Very inspiring story
Respect to that teacher 💯
He should become a physician and then after that if he wants also become a lawyer.
@@DanielK1213th True, it is a long and difficult process for either let alone both but there are a few people who study both. He should study what he wants.
all my school life I didn't really study hard but on one math exam, I studied really hard and I got a full mark on that exam, I thought that I might really like math, but the teacher said that I did a good job of cheating and next time I will be caught. this is just to show the different environment we all live in, in one place the people around will push for greater things others will try all they have to push you down
i needed this
🎊Congratulations🎉
Just shows that giving more opportunities for the underprivileged is successful, no matter where in the world it is
Inspirational story!
He was never a bad student just the situation made his scores bad
Korea, Japan, China and India has so much pressure on their students because the competitive exam are some of the toughest in the world.....Harsh truth!
Too much pressure on one test. I feel so bad for any children living in this kind of competitive environment:(
The title is misleading. It shouldn't have said from bottom to top. Obviously, he had a ton of potential and was successful from before joining that highschool
Soo talented 😄😄
Not talented , her worked hard
I have a guy feeling that if I go to Korea as a student then I would die in pressure.
He’s very luck to have received a scholarship which helped with his mother’s financial burden. I wish I can receive a scholarship too to help with my parents. They are working so hard to send me abroad.
One thing I learnt from his story is that it's not about being privileged even though students with better financial support tend to do much better due to having extra support, a student without these privelagle can still do better its all about believing in yourself and not giving up and learning to work hard and keep strong goals and aims.
I'm a year away from finishing highschool, and my results are bad and I have no idea if I have enough time to change before the big exam. I really have no hope..
Congratulations!
Me: thinks about studying
Me 10 minutes later: doesnt study
The thumbnail looked like a scene straight from an anime
"Can affect their future relationship" in a nation where the birthrate is under 1.0. That explains alot.
Relationships is a vast term. It can be with anyone or anything
This is really inspiring to me because I have the SHSAT (a New York high schools entrance exam into the 8 elite high schools) and I am worried u won't do well because I'm mainly studying alone (besides 2 free prep programs). But because he got a perfect score studying alone, I hope I can do well too.
because of the financial hurdles others put before us, so many people never get the opportunity to succeed! Can you imagine the thoughts, works, and theories we would have today if everyone received the same education? There are so many Einstein's out there, but a lot are never given a chance. I'm glad he was able to pull through, and good on that teacher who supported him. they must be so proud of him!!
Great job 👌👌👌👌
It is awesome he did it without spending thousands on hagwon and tutors. But to get into that school he had to have fairly okay grades. Let go of this rank system. A person is smarter not to look like they are number 1,2,3. Just do okay and then awesome on the test. This should not be a shocking a person with a parent who passed or mother who works a respectable job is perfectly capable of doing well on a test. Enough with the family background stereotype.
Education does change life for sure. Especially for middle class and lower middle class.
The so-called middle classes tend to be the educated group in societies.
It’s for the so-called working class or those from low socio-economic backgrounds where a prestigious higher education can enable them to improve their social mobility prospects.
@@hannah60000 Not really. Middle class are not so educated as elites, most Americans workers are middle class and it doesnt mean they all have good education
@@HeadhuntexGamer that's why usa needs to hire doctors and engineers from asian countries.

This is exact like the JEE advanced of our India, instead it's a bit more difficult and it does not has any language test but only the Science and Maths

He entered in high school at 18 or graduated it ?
......what do u think
In Korea you are one at birth. Then are a year older at lunar new year. You are usually 17,18,19 for high school then 20 in college. The school year states March 1st which is always after lunar new year. So if you are born a week before lunar nw year you turn 2 a week later.
we also have a top student but hes a bottom
What’s this manhwa?
