Nope. Have to let it dry out and callous over first. Otherwise the plant will just rot. Also, don't cut them straight across. Cut an inverted V shape to allow more room for roots.
I've found they grow and thrive with hardly any water at all 😉 They love full 🌞 Mine are outside always because I'm in Florida but I also had them indoors in Maryland before moving 15 years ago. Even indoors, I've ignored them weeks at a time and now I have 2 beautiful large pots about to burst at the seems 🫣 Totally potbound. Ggrrrrr. My fault but anyway Getting back to growing your snake plants. Pick off the pieces you intend to plant and label colors, let the cut end dry and scab over at least for 1 night maybe 2. Do Not use wet or soil that is very moist to start your cuttings 🌵 Remember water will be their enemy if you are worried about them drying out. I dampen the tips and then dip them in a little bit of rooting hormone, then stick them in an area of almost dry soil and I leave them alone, with a small dish of water under the pot that will absorb water to your plants if needed ? Make sure your pot has holes in it also 🌵 Just because the top is dry doesn't mean they need water. It took me years of many rotten cuttings or plants to finally find a plant that I can't kill 🍀 Good Luck
Every plant is different my guy.😂 Purple velvet plant begin to root after 2-3 days Snake plants are roughly the same but slightly longer as this video shows.
I planted it in November last yr without knowing I was using clay soil ...... Roots were formed but no new plants up until 3rd March I repotted it again in just 80%cocopeat+20%vermicompost and man the results are unexpected 3cutting and 5new plants😂😂😂😂
It finally worked!!!!! Omg I posted this 2 months ago 🤣🫶🏽🙌🏼 I got roots y’all!!!!! Now I need to plant it! So I had to cut the bottom of the leaf again. Then it started growing.
Meri cutting 3 mahine tak kuchh nhi show hua mitti me after a single pup dikha kuchh samay bad teen aur nikale ab 4 ho gaye hai par ye sab hone me 4 mahine lag gaye isiliye patience rakhna hoga laga kar bhool jao bas pani time pe dete raho wo khud develop ho jaiga
Cut the bottom of the leaf into an upside down V so the leaf has two tails and a slit in the middle. Let the cuts dry for 2-5 days after cutting before putting them in water
Aunque te digan lo contrario , lo que hiciste está perfecto , yo lo hago asi , como lo hiciste vos y siempre me funciono !!!!! Muchas gracias por compartir
Just cut it in "V" shape and 10-12Hrs in dark , Dry place and then put it in Soil ... As water developed roots cant survive in soil so eventually they will regrow its roots again. 📍Varigated plant ( with yellow edge) will not have yellow colour in new plant ... It can only to done with new pufs.
Nice..But one down side....u don't get the exact leaf pattern in the new one, you will miss the yellow variagted portion😢... If u are good with plain snake plant..it's correct. But if u want variagted plant, do plant division along with roots from mother plant😅👍

Yello strip will be never came in new pups…i guess.. which water to use for that?
if you cut the one with yellowedging , the new plant that grows wont have yellow edging
Yeeeaaa 😂
Yes! The variegated characteristics don’t pass onto the cutting I’ve learned. 🥹🍁
Yes.. shoot separation might be the only way to propagate the varigated ones.
just found your comment randomly lol

Thank you so much for showing us how to propagate the Snake Plant! I have one and am going to try it out! ❤

Thank you! I’m currently trying to do this. I don’t know what day it’s on but I have not seen roots! Hopefully soon!!!!!!! ❤🎉🙏🏽
Did it finally work!
I've tried this, its been 3 months and no roots. 😢
You will have to wait over 3 months to see any. Snake plants grow slowly also develop roots slowly. Don’t fall for fake info in videos

I love a plant of mine that even if you don’t put it on water and cut 1 stem it’ll root in 10 minutes or so so pretty 😊
Great..I will try ..What about the lead that was cut..will that be dead or
Thank you so much for sharing!👍❤
Wah wah what an idea.. glass jar rakhna kahan pe hai .. aur is plant ko kaisi mitti or sunlight chahiye after re potting.
Soft soil yani geeli mati jis m na rait zyada ho na mati zyada and direct sunlight m nhi rkhna h kisi b shady area m rakhen

Wow I am fascinated the way she gained roots and the regrowth came back. 😳❤️🍀
Simranvijay please confirm that the new growth has yellow outline on both sides of new leaves. I did try, but but the new leaves are totally green.
Awesome idea 🌿🌿🌻🌷🌻🌻🌷🌻🌷🌷🌻 Happy Gardening😊
QUE LINDA QUE ES LA NATURALEZA GRACIAS POR COMPARTIR ESA INGENIOSA EXPERIENCIA
You don't get a yellow barricades on the leaf propagating this way.
Did you change the water at all in those 30 days
Nice sharing thank you...wish you success always
Wow with result just awsme
I did that but no roots have grown for 3 months now.
Do we need to change the water regularly?
Every 3 days is enough
Yellow border will not come right ? If propagate like this
It's amazing❤❤
Amo estas lindezas
Love this plant very important to humanity ❤
I think there is some steps prior to water propagation. It only rottens my cuttings.
You need to let it dry
@@Boony-Bwa thank you so much.
@@JuandePedro-ui1fk also cutting in a V shape would allow more space for the roots to grow. Hope it will work for you 👍
Nice sharing morning and like from Philippines 🇵🇭
But why every time I try this way, leaves start to rot and get soggy ?
Cut the bottom of the leaf into an upside down V so the leaf has two tails and a slit in the middle. Let the cuts dry for 2-5 days after cutting before putting them in water
I’ve tried both methods countless times. Zero luck.
@@Mar-dp9kf thank you! I am gonna try your way now! I hope I can save some of my leaves this time 🥰

I tried this 3 times didn’t work for me
I thought you have to cut the leaf at the bottom in a v shape but your doing it straight accross will it make a difference on how you cut it..
Mere pas h snake plants ki ek leaf usme already roots h to usko roots k sath mitti m lga du ya thode din Pani m rkh k buds lane ka wait Karu 😅

Cut and plant a yellow bordered sansevieria leaf and the new plants that emerge do no have the yellow border. At least, that's my experience.
Obrigada pela explicação. É que aconteceu exactamente isso comigo e fiquei muito admirada, sem compreender.
Yes
Yes no yellow boarder
Actually its fake video
Yo pongo las mías y tardan mucho tiempo en sacar raíz y otras se pudren😢..no se que estoy haciendo mal
Hola, no te preocupes, me pasó lo mismo, no hecho raíces ninguna. Así que no funciona, al menos para mí.

Do verigation disappear after propagating from cutting?
Do we have to change water also after 7 days or 15 days??
Yes.
Pani daily change krna hota Hy kya
Amazing👍👍👍
If you grow snake plant from leaves it doesn't have yellow border
Hi, is there a way of propagating them so keep their yellow border ? Please share if you know. Thanks

Some sansevieria cultivars, mostly variegated, don't give the same sprouts by leaf cutting method in water. The sprouts will be just green
Till how long did this leaf rooted?
Can u please tell me how often we need to change the water?
Once a week
Is me Pani badalna he or kitne din me badalna he pls reply

Why do they get soggy in the water? Is that normal?
Remove it from the water asap and cut the rotten part off. If there is still a decent bit of leaf left, you can start over and try again.
Snake plant is a indoor plant or needs sunlight?
Snake plant is not an indoor plant.
Morning hours sunlight or indirect bright sunlight is sufficient for snake plant.
