      Right? Less than $10, and you could drive there and back in half the time it took to make it. I also the “blade” of this home made splitter would not last. Too much heat applied during the process.

      Это обычный, можно сказать "классический" гайколом. Надо думать, что затачивал он не первую попавшуюся шпильку, а от той же шаровой. Что тут странного то? Там металл хороший.

      Considering the time alone he lost - a Craftsman but splitter is $15 on Amazon.
      One of the things drilled into my head during tool design classes, was "DON'T REINVENT THE WHEEL".

      @@machinist7230 sometimes you need a tool after hours or the weekend and a 2 hour round trip to town is out of the question. In 15 minutes with worn out parts you have something that will keep you going.

    Use the entire prat drill in center instead of cutting off the welded for a hole cook the temper out then put temper back in using oil to harden the soft metals.

    In all my years of pulling wrench’s I have never needed to bust a nut at work most of the time the shity bolts are the ones you can’t get heat on because they are surrounded by plastic or fuel lines.

      That depends on where you live in all honestly. I have had some that even my air impact 800 torque couldn't break loose because of the rust built up and heat was not working. I ended up cutting the nut to get the job done.

      @@chevybigblock3311 the tool made in the video is shit and makes no sense on way even bother going threw all this way. But i have dealt with so badly rusted bolts and nuts and even heat wasn't working. I tried to the rapid cooling method to no success. Cutting the nut was the last option and it took only 5 minutes to do it.

    Holy shit I've been needing to take off a 2 part lugnut that broke and is just free spining bc my rim is cracked and bent, I've been looking at bolt cutters but now I'ma go take the control arm off my car and make one! I love the idea

    Ya took any temper outta the hardened point by turning it plum blue overheating the grinding part. Nut splitters aren't needed often and when they are probably worth the money

      You must be financially responsible and hard working to have carefully saved enough to do so. Otherwise your comment would come off a little petty and/or cheap, potentially even insulting to those that do save their money for the things they love instead of buying new, cheap, stuff every few months.
      But really, if you don't like the idea of making your own tools, why make a snarky comment? Videos like this are usually aimed towards people that want to start their own shop/have their own shop and like to make their own tools instead of buying the more common stuff from retail. Nothing more satisfying than using something you made, to make something else.

    To all the haters and idiots out there that are completely missing the point of these videos it’s not that he doesn’t want to go and buy the tool for cheap it’s the fact that he wants to apply is well developed skills and his clever mind and build a tool that works whether he goes and buys one or not some people like myself and many others just like being creative and building things from scrap and scratch just simply for the challenge and the satisfaction of being able to do it so props to this guy for sharing his creativity and his ability to build different things

    I hope ya see this. Use these skills to start building your own custom furniture pieces. With all the favorited joining methods and the rebar door handles tables chairs everything. All small runs ofc cause handmade by one person. But if you created an online store and marketed that through this that'd be killer. Also might help with marketing. Could create a face for all of this.👆🏻

    А я сделал такую же приспособу, только из хомута и канцелярского ножа. Результатом доволен, как слон. Щёлкает гайки - аж треск стоит🤣👍

      @@gerrylundergaard60 "Pay attention"? To what? The 1/10th of second snippets? Even it's not copper, there is no way thay particular tool is going to cut through a steel nut without serious deformation. It needs to be re-hardened and tempered.

    Well done. I have made many similar tools, jigs and fixtures both in the shop and on mobile service truckin Canadas BC bush. Way cheaper that the costly time and fuel to drive back to town and back. The time and labor cost would be enormous as well. This smart hack is a beauty my friend !

      The materials such as the grinder disks, the electricity for the welder. And so on also he could have just used the grinder or a dremel to cut the nut off.

    Everybody go take off your tie rod ends right now and do this, such a helpful tip. My car is having some weird steering issues I’m sure it’s completely unrelated, I’ll just take it to the dealer.
