A song about being cheated on. Not knowing it was coming, there is naked pain in Jacks writing. To be able to create something beautiful from that place really gives someone hope for the tomorrow.
I don't feel any hope in this song. For me, these are the sounds of someone entirely exhausted, betrayed and defeated by coming to terms with a new unexpected reality. Beautifully composed and expressed.
Just shows the raw talent that Bombay Bicycle club possess. A piano and singing. That's all that video and song took yet it is still an incredibly moving and emotional song. Amazing, keep going!!!!
saw this live in dublin a week ago, and jack commented saying how it was the first time the crowd had been completely silent for this song. it was something rally magical, and could not appreciate the fact more that i was there to experience it. thank you bombay for being so beautiful.
i've never heard a band with such creativity and genius music. since the word go, i've adored every piece they've churned out and when i finally had the chance to watch them live, i was the happiest girl on earth. lucy rose should also be given a huge amount of credit because she's a wonderful singer and has so much potential. these two acts are the best thing that's happened to me in my 15 years on this planet, so far. i'll always remember them as my first true love. cheesy, but true.
Bombay are such an influential band. Seeing them live is such a buzz with great energy, and what so great about them is stick a girl in the room with them and they produce some of the loveliest music ive ever heard. thankyou for being in my life
Held your standards close to heart But late one night you threw them down Simple promises you said you'd never break But now you have All throughout the morning though I'm begging no Your lips they stay perfectly still Still... still... Did he fill the empty spaces Was he everything I'm not? There's no force behind my mouth But in just three words He brings you down There's a movement Out the door I swear but no Your lips they stay perfectly still Still... still... still... #Musik
Sad but true... They, as well, are going to be a band everybody is going to listen to. And everybody probably only knows lights out, words gone and how can you swallow so much sleep... It's so sad
I saw this live in Dublin and for the whole concert the crowd was screaming and the atmosphere was crazy and as soon as he started playing the piano everyone was silent and it was just amazing not one person said a word :)
I saw them in the Olympia in DUBLIN last night. When they played this song after about 10 seconds you could hear a pin drop it was so silent, he even commented on it after the song. Highlight of the night for me, what a song!!
This version needs to be available for purchase... way more emotional and sweeter to the ear than what's presently offered.

@@nicbongo Of course there's hope in this song. As soon as he hits the "still" lyric and it starts to repeat. It's an opening up
Mesmerizing. Jack is so humbling. He can sing, play guitar, play piano brilliantly. His dancing isn't bad either...
This was filmed at Hackney Round Chapel, if anyone else was wondering where it was shot. Found it in a fit of late night googling.
BTS vid?

He sings keeping that key still, while the harmony changes. What a great way to express the message of the song.."Still".. :)
Mere mortals like me can only ever dream of writing songs as heartbreakingly beautiful as this.
I full on cried when they played this live..
now it's all come back, and here I am in tears again...
this is beyond perfect.
What type of song can't Bombay play?! Amazing. Perfect video too
BBC and this song are one of the only reasons I want to go to Leeds this year
I love the colour tone in this video.
I did mention "tone" as singular and just brown was exactly what I wanted to see.

Sigh... this song never fails to make me teary eyed. BBC never ceases to amaze me.
Such a brilliant video-think it captures the stripped back nature of this track so well. No gimmicks, just a beautiful song
Goose bumps. Every time....
Held your standards close to heart
But late one night you threw them down
Simple promises you said you'd never break
But now you have
All throughout the morning though
I'm begging no
Your lips they stay perfectly still
Still... still...
Did he fill the empty spaces
Was he everything I'm not?
There's no force behind my mouth
But in just three words
He brings you down
There's a movement
Out the door
I swear but no
Your lips they stay perfectly still
Still... still... still...

Sad but true... They, as well, are going to be a band everybody is going to listen to. And everybody probably only knows lights out, words gone and how can you swallow so much sleep... It's so sad

this is a perfect study song, it's calm and you won't get easily distracted, awesome
one of the saddest Bombay songs I've yet to hear.. and I've heard nearly all of them.
My musical bona isn't going anywhere soon, this is a-maz-ing.

I like that most of BBC's videos are actually live.

How can something so heartbreaking be so beautiful?
Beautiful.

I saw them in the Olympia in DUBLIN last night. When they played this song after about 10 seconds you could hear a pin drop it was so silent, he even commented on it after the song. Highlight of the night for me, what a song!!
