- Quest 3 gameplay footage with graphical comparisons against the PCVR Version! This is Beta footage but you will be I
Pressed it looked amazing on Quest not just the visuals but the NPC motion! One of the biggest VR games to hit the platform it is being coined the Half Life Alyx for Standalone. This is an action horror title, so you may get scared but you have the fire power to protect. One of the best AAA VR games to hit the platform in a long time.

While the Quest 3 version looks great, I like to support PC versions when they are available. Don't get me wrong, I love standalone VR for what it can do, especially on the go, but I like the overall quality PC VR can provide. Plus, the games are a lot easier to mod when possible. On top of that, I don't want to see developers slow down or stop supporting PC VR altogether, either.
I agree sir 👍
Game developer really focus on low budget gpu owners to downgrade the quality for pc version. Thats why i gave up and just focus on UEVR and vr mod games on pc.
I disagree honestly.
Standalone vr is the future, and i want it to get better and better.
@@nermax7022 that's fine. I want standalone VR to get better too. But not at the cost of leaving PC versions in the dust.
@@plasticlife283 true true, pcvr should get supported too
The Quest 3 is really turning into a great system! You can do anything in there. So many people still have no idea it exists.
Wow 😮, Thanks for this Steve, it looks incredible for Q3 . Good day
Looks fantastic on textures, trade offs of course and of course lighting looks way better on PC, but to see graphics like that on a battery powered, practically cellphone compute power driving such smooth gameplay... so thankful to be part of these times
Wow! Quest version looks really good. I'm impressed.
That is awesome actually, for a standalone.
Really good, just looks like the shines on some materials are missing.
The Quest 3 version looks fine, but the PC VR is just so much better, to the point I just don't know if I could force myself to downgrade from that and play it on the Quest 3. :-o
Maybe if I just ignore the fact the PC VR version exists. I mean, I actually loved RE4 on Quest 3 and thought the visuals really worked very well there, and I think these look like a step up, right, so I guess I could love the visuals here too when properly playing the game.
Edit: Yeah, I think I can be okay with the Quest 3 visuals if I just ignore the PC VR version exists.
Edit 2: There's times thought where I'm seeing proper shadows on Quest 3, that scene in the cage, and times where it just looks like faded circle shadows, which seems to be most of the time. If it were just all proper shadows, I think I'd be good here. Can we get at least that, maybe in a future patch or something if it's not there in the final Quest 3 version already.
Considering he’s probably running a 4090 and that’s what the Quest version looks like in comparison it’s extremely impressive.
@@steffendetrick True there.
PSVR2 version is going to blow away Meta 3 version…let’s just be honest
@@movieshorttalks7963 Wired and Fresnel? 🤢
Who cares dude
Nothing beats the freedom of handheld for me
I have an RTX 3070Ti Laptop but will go for Standalone since the downgrade is not as big
Same way certain games I prefer to play on my SteamDeck
Graphics aren't everything
I hope buying on Quest 3 will give you access to a PC oculus version of the game, that way I can play it on stand alone or pc without buying it twice.
Crossbuy seems to be dead, mostly because ppl will always buy it on Steam anyways; even if a Crossbuy version is available.
but knowing Vertigo Games and seeing the Quest3 footage, it's getting to a point where the Quest3 is getting to a point of 'good enough'. I ahve Arizona Sunshine on Quest3/PCVR, and I still play the Quest3 version since it's 90% there with the PCVR version.
Lighting is 3x better on PC VR I see but everything else looks the same which is impressive looking forward to using Quest Games Optimizer with this.
Not just Lighting.
@@umbratherios5614I don’t see much of any other difference lighting plays a big role because it shines on objects highlighting them differently making them look better but if you look at certain textures and resolutions they are pretty damn close and Quest games optimizedr increases the resolution of games.
@@andrebillups4079 theres a difference if you are in the headset itself, including running at higher resolution on pcvr. For example, I play games at 3k resolution per eye on pcvr. I can read stuff and see details that other people can't, from farther away.
Pcvr and standalone is getting very close, but it wont truly be properly comparable for another... 2 generations ish.
@@umbratherios5614 the Quest is capable of 2k per eye they say 4k but it’s really two and games are just limited if you use Quest Games Optimizer you can increase the resolution significantly for certain games making them look more clear/sharper and able to see things from further distance. It’s not as much as a hardware issue as it is optimization for best system, battery, and fan performance.
@@umbratherios5614textures too but it looks almost comparable
Impressive. Looks like they’ve basically just removed the specular lighting and some of the dynamic lights. From a gameplay perspective, the lack of some dynamic lighting seems to make it a bit dark in areas.
I will go with PCVR version but I have to say the Q3 version still looks amazing for standalone and shows the power of the Q3 as long as developers utilize them well. For those who do not have the PC to play this with, Q3 will definitely be a great experience.
wowzers, i think it might be the first day 1 VR purchase for me
Great work right!
I have psvr2, and quest 3, I made mistake of getting max mustard on psvr2, and i remember how much fuzzier it is, so think ill get this one on quest 3
Wireless freedom is great but sometimes the game looks so bad but I’ve actually played this and I will likely play the quest version too
mostly dull surfaces missing shininess, nothing we haven't seen on other Quest ports so far. BUT this was made for Quest first and foremost and it's why most environment shadows and lights are baked and not even muzzleflashes are seen... Still looks good because it's a minor difference. But it's minor mostly because the other versions got parity with it... like, extensive shadow casting only during cutscenes mostly...
Honestly not bad. Still getting the PCVR version though. Nothing I hate more than buying a game from the Quest store.
Quest 3 footage looks decent but the pcvr footage ive been seeing this entire time is just so much better. I'll probably still end up playing it though.
I can't wait for this. I have been wanting to see a comparison with Quest 3. So, thank you for this!
Wow it looks really good on the quest 3 also, very impressive 👍
Looks good on quest!!
I'm personally buying on PSVR2 but all 3 versions looks amazing
I'm looking forward to playing it, but would adding a bit of shine and better lighting have been been too much for the Quest 3 to handle? I think they can do better.
YEES THIS IS WHAT IVE BEEN WAITING FOR, Finally able to choose if I want the pcvr or quest 3 variant, unless its cross buy ofc which would be amazing
I use my Q3 for PC VR and Standalone and it's a toss up for me. Although I like the graphics on the PC better, my wireless VR connection sometimes makes playing PC VR a pain. I think the Q3 version being standalone makes a great case for itself as the graphics, while not quite as good are certainly comparable. I think at this point I just want the game to be good playwise as well as have some replayability.
The Shading is Lacking but other than that it looks Amazing.🙌
That’s extremely impressive, especially considering you’re probably running a 4090. I am assuming the PCVR version with someone that had a 20 series graphics card won’t be much of an improvement over the Quest 3 version visually. I’m running a 4070 ti super so definitely grabbing a PCVR version but if I only had a quest 3 I would be very happy with this. I do wonder how the performance is going to be on the quest 2.
Oh its because of open world vs indoor world. Thats why the drastic change in visual quality. Maybe an overclock. I expect frequent jutters. Will Meta offer a dual buy with their PC store?
Looks like I gotta dust off my link cable again 😅
What's this cable you speak of?? 😮
Super impressive, other then lack of specular highlights and slightly simplified particles/models quest 3 version is basically on par. Probably first time Ill play quest 3 version rather then pc, I can give up slight graphical bumps for mobile freedom
But that is a huge deal. Without specularity everything is flat in the game. At least the key assets like the gun could've been an exception as in most modern vr games.
@@gyorgyboszormenyi9078 True, especially good point about at least the guns having some specularity. But I just strongly prefer mobile vs tethered. Virtual desktop is great, but still not as good as mobile imo. Something like Arizona Sunshine 2 for instance I played on PCVR, but I feel like metro is the first one to really flex the quest 3 vs pcvr. Now lets hope there isn't awful ASW implementation, that could send me back to PC real quick :D
@@c_m9251 I also prefer standalone play, but I don't think there's a reason not to have some specularity here in a closed space game, when even Espire got it way back on much weaker hardware.
Yeah, ASW is a dealbreaker for me too.
sometimes quest version have a shadows. But many footage is gone. Strange.
The graphics are pretty decent for something stand alone. If the gameplay is good then I’m all for it.
That should sell Quest 3’s plus we can still play the Pc version. More stuff like that VR will finally been main stream 👍
now i cant decide which i want to play on, i have access to both thankfully
Ill buy on both gotta support vr as much as i can. Wiuldnt be the first time ive bought metro games more than once lol.
Thanks Steve.
needs full body avatar
I got both the Quest3 and the PSVR2, for the Quest3 I actually prefer virtual desktop over link, I get alot shimmering tough textures in link. I like the PSVR2 because of the vibrant colors, deep blacks, brighter image and uncompressed textures, but yes the mura kind of bothers me.
Absolutely no roughness in Quest version, even the gun looks flat :(
Do you know if this will be cross-buy on Meta Horizon store?
Well, PCVR is far superior in every aspect, as it was to be expected, but the Quest 3 version is very impressive nonetheless.
Looks awesome
Game looks great both ways, and while it's still in beta, I'm wondering if the Quest 3 footage is without Q3 optimizations and using the same graphical fidelity as Quest 2. QGO will push this game even further, and I'm curious to know if cross-buy will be available
wow quest 3 looks so good
We need Quest 4 with Nvidia chip inside like switch 2 which is going to be between series S and X
Pcvr version is always gunna beat standalone! But this game looks awesome on quest 3! It is the closest its gunna get for now. But I don't mind I'd rather have on standalone. Its looks s**t hot!
Would you say the PSVR2 version aligns closer to the PCVR or the Quest, does it have adaptive triggers and head haptics. You can plainly see the PCVR fidelity difference in lighting and textures but I am shocked with what they squeeze out of the snapdragon SOC XR2 gen 2.
also you have to factor in what PCVR headset, a Meta Quest 3 even with VirtualDesktop PCVR mode is nowhere near say the visual image quality of a Pimax Crystal it’s not even close
I can't believe people wear those cinder block headsets.
Maybe a controversial point of view here, but to me, the PCVR graphics are only 'OK', nothing special. That's why the Q3 graphics look so good in comparison. Q3 looks amazing for standalone, though. A must buy for me, game looks great!
Seems to me like the PCVR version has pretty bad textures in order to cut down on development costs. Don't get me wrong, Quest 3 looks great for standalone, but PCVR looks worse than 5 year old Alyx.
Is it Crossbuy?
Good question. I hope it is.
It's not unfortunately
Wow, wish it was crossbuy! Is that even a thing anymore?
impressive
What you show as pcvr footage is in fact the psvr2 footage they showed a few days ago. You might wanna correct that and reupload. Lol
This is the footage that you used: ua-cam.com/video/n4Lqos-KB7M/v-deo.html
Same one that is uploaded on Sony's youtube as PSVR2 gameplay.
Obvious game was made by quest 3 standarts and was improved to pcvr
not sure i can tell the difference from this vid, was that your intention?
Exactly!!! How good is that!
Is it crossbuy?
I’ve not read anything about that but I could be wrong
Do you get paid from Meta? PSVR2 version is the one you showed. And as always the PSVR2 version is going to outperform the meta 3. Just facts is all
PSVR2 is not standalone. So not a fair comparison. No more wires for me. Wireless PCVR on Quest 3 is just amazing.
you can't throw PSVR2 in a backpack and play wireless anywhere. You need that gigantic PS5 and wires
You can use the psvr2 with a PC. It isn't running on a playstation 5. That is why he is calling it pcvr.
Ha ha is it my time to post the first comment to SteveKnows! Hi!
You were rapid! Howdy :) I actually think you came second by seconds!
I was really hoping for a bit more from the Quest 3.
It’s not bad, but it could definitely be better.
Red Matter 2 just feels like some foreign testament at this point
This isn’t even a Quest 3 Exclusive & it still looks Amazing. These are way bigger than Red Matter as well
Red Matter 2 is a slow paced puzzle game with not much else going on its way easier to render those games look at the 7th Guest, Brink Traveller, Real Fishing, The Climb 2. All beautiful games but are all very simple and not much going on besides just you moving around and you’re by yourself which means power can go to the design and graphics and not a.i. NPCs, animating other characters not just yours, and then making things in the environment move not just from your own interactions but all those other things as well.
@@DevVRAR that’s true, the storage would be unbelievable if Metro went for that level of graphics at all times
@@andrebillups4079 fair. still a shame, but at least understandably so.
The Red Matter devs have very deep technical knowledge, and especially so with unreal as I recall. Talent like that is pretty rare, so we're not gonna see many games on that level on quest 3 unfortunately. Most graphics engineers on their level are probably not making VR games anyway. They're working for companies like Sony Santa Monica, Guerilla games, Id, Epic, etc.
PSVR2 versions always look better and is going to look better than the Meta 3 version.
and it will sell worse than the Quest version, as always
PSVR2 is not a standalone device. It will also look better on Quest3 when it's hooked to a PC.
Oh you are telling me a headset that needs to be WIRED to a PS5 (so you need to spend at least $800) or PC will look better than a mobile portable and Standalone device that costs $300/$500 ?
What a surprise!
Whats next?
Telling me that Hogwarts Legacy looks better on PS5 than Switch Lite?
Ofc it will look better.. for a lot higher price, and not able to play standalone
I got PS5 but still bought meta quest 3 instead. Standalone thing is much more cool man,and it still looks very good.
Sorry but, after almost 5 years, Half Life Alyx, still being the best VR game ever made. Even not comparing graphics, the mechanics, the details, the sounds, the overall ambient, physics, interactions, amount of objects in the scenes, etc. everything it's better than this (Metro). It seems that only VALVE knows how to do action/adventure VR games
one runs on consoles and oculus quest 2+3, the other runs purely on PC. weird comparision
so have you already played metro and if so was it standalone or pcvr if pc what config gpu etc?
@@muskerp On PC non VR, but I don't care about that, I care about a VR game that it's being launch today and it's worst than a 5 years ago VR game, that's it.
