My favorite part of these weekly updates has to be listening to David struggling to rectify the developing Haunted Mansion queue with the concept art. He tries so hard. It’s downright inspiring.
SOLID EPISODE!! Watching for the 4th time, kudo's to DAvid! Hungry Bear, is part of my best memories of Disnayland in the 80's!! I was sad when they cut it back for StarWars, but not a bad trade.

Me too. My guess is that they will close it completely, tear most of it down to dirt and rebuild it. My guess is Space Mountain (in some form), Subs and Autopia(though converted to electric vehicles) will remain. I wouldn’t be surprised if some kind of people mover contraption winds its way through the rebuilt Tomorrowland. I’d love to see all the late 60’s attractions reimagined and back in pristine condition. I’m 62 and have no doubt the imagineers will do Walt proud with whatever they do, I just hope I live to see it.
Hopefully it's a 'wet' winter so all the new plants and trees (as well as the rest of the greenery) can get a good 'soaking'. Imo Tiana's is a great ride...as the years go by it will acquire the same passion and affection as Splash did for the earlier generations. When 'everything' is done from Pirates to Hungry Bear (hopefully that includes TS's island & the 'burned' building)...that part of the park will be spectacular. Now if the 'attention' and $ can focus on Tomorrowland.
David, I completely agree that having the train running truly does make a big difference as far as the overall feel of the park. I was there Friday afternoon and SO happy to be back on the train. I heard one engineer say they were very close to only being able to run two trains, but eventually did go to three, as you mentioned. Not sure what the issue was that almost made it two for the day.
I remember when it was Bear Country and as you walked past a huge rock wall/cave on your way to see the Country Bear Jamboree you could hear a bear snoring 🥰🐻
I agree with your take on Tiana's. The ride and most of the scenes look great, except the shrunken frog/Laughing Place room. It's so flat and the reliance on screens is rough. There's always going to be a back up before the drop (because the logs have to wait to ascend) , and I was already bored of the firefly/Odie screens after 2 rides on it. Also, the laughing place/burrow's lament scene had about 20 audio animatronics, and it got downgraded to 4 very simple animatronics and 5 screens. That scene is a HUGE miss and it brings down the ride with it.
i think even if they just brought back the water jets they used to have in the laughing place and the raining mushrooms itd add a lot of needed energy to the scenes
The attraction was inspired more by politics, not creativity. The irony is Tiana's incorporates a setting of slavery (ie, a Louisiana salt mine) & presents quasi-black accent-dialect patterns (See: Character of "Mammy" in Gone with the Wind).
I have soooooo many fond memories of family trips to Disneyland and we always went to Hungry Bear at least once. Loved being able to sit by the water before the refurb and chill out, absorbing the Disney. 💜💜
As we went onto the trestle and the full view of Rivers Of America came into view I became all verklempt! Overjoyed! Dang it, I love Disneyland! Thank you so much for sharing this FreshBaked! And wow have Disney done a spanking great job sprucing everything up! All fears assuaged!

It was great seeing you today 10/28 as we were riding the fire truck. Went to the soft opening to Hungry Bear on Thursday and loved the meat platter with the slaw and beans. Followed your standby tricks during our trip but did LL on Saturday. Thanks again for all you do for us muffins.
Heading to Disneyland with my toddler tomorrow! He wants to meet Mickey and do the slides in Toontown lol. Hopefully we can ride the train once around and have a nice relaxing time :)
My family and I went to Hungry Bear last night and we were surprised on how good the food was. We had the pulled pork sandwich, brisket sandwich, loaded fries, and banana pudding. The only critque I have is the meat wasn't hot.
My fave part of the train spiel is long gone: “the smoking lamp is out”. ;(. It motivated me to look up the smoking lamp history and meaning. Lovely to see the train rolling into the station though.

There was no view into Tiana's Bayou Adventure from the Railroad during the previews yesterday. I wouldn’t expect the doors to be up until the official opening on 11/15.
I loved this update and the POV train ride video on your other channel. I was just surprised they didn't update the reference to the term "Indian". At least in Canada where I am, it's a big no-no. Excited to visit DL starting Nov. 9!
Tianas is sooooo much prettier than splash ever was, splash in my mind was always a giant, bland, eyesore. Splash was literally just 100 different shades of brown
David you have to watch Wdwnt today. He reported the Spider-Man Stanton’s is going away due to budget cuts. Also the train will have 3 more 3 month track refurbs over the next 2 years. He had some good insight.
We walked by the new haunted mansion gift shop at 10 pm Friday evening and there were workers still working. They may be getting even closer to opening than we thought.
Also, I prefer the previous voice narration inflection when train comes around the bend over the river...after the Hungry Bear. This one seems less dramatic.
Since Small World is down for repairs or what ever are they going to switch it over to the Christmas theme while it is down at the moment........much like they did with Haunted Mansion and the Halloween Theme.
Still holding out hope that someday they'll build a small stage on that upper level dining area for a certain collection of furry friends to make a comeback and perform some of their greatest hits. What I wouldn't give to chow down on some BBQ and watch a rendition of TEARS WILL BE A CHASER FOR MY WINE or ALL THe GUYS THAT TURN ME ON TURN ME DOWN.

We will be there for Thanksgiving and am really bummed in Big Thunder is closed. Why would they close it during the start of the holidays? It is my favorite ride.
What about Big Thunder Mountain Railroad? The refurb calendar, which as of today goes to December 9th, shows Big Thunder is closed with no opening insight. Closed for Halloween and Christmas... What is up with that?

We know they're doing single rider, it has its' own dedicated line and sign, so I'm not sure how those would work together
The splotches on Marceline's are just the masking for the trim around the windows, and they sprayed paint to clear their spray tip on the pump. Nothing fun unfortunately.
What I really like about Hungry Bear is the large amount of seating.
Never had a problem finding an open table.

I was there on the 28th and it was great. Wait times were like 45min and it was crowded but 2016 crowded.

As of Monday Small World had water, but no boats. People in bright pink vests were at the controll stations. And the Toy Box was open.

Haunted Mansion turned into scuba tank with chained sub-bubbles circling the tank and aquatic life.
The stairs look like fresh new concrete. Either that, or they were blasted clean.

Big Thunder will actually be open for the remainder of the Halloween season, it doesn’t close until November 18th
