I've got an off brand making the same noise. pulled the sides off and found where the noise is coming from. I had to find a parts breakdown, but it appears to be my "cutterhead lock plate". On the breakdown it shows a spring attached, mine doesn't have a spring present, which seems to be allowing it to rattle.
THANK YOU !! My Delta has been making this noise lately and I could not figure out where it was coming from. Now to decide if it's worth fixing. I bought it 6 months ago brand new in box. Older guy bought but never used it and it sat in his shop for 10 years. It's odd that bearings would be worn already though with only 6 months of light use though. And it still cuts wonderfully.. I''m just imagining the whole thing suddenly seizing up and grenading.
Mine makes the same noise. Took the motor off and ran it on the bench, no noise. Cutter head bearing makes sense.
I bought an old model off Craigs list today, same noise. Its coming from the cutter head bearrings. Ill update this if I make progress
Thanks man , it comes and goes last few times I used there was nothing but feel like it effects the cutting . Haven’t torn into it yet

Mine has made that noise from brand new. I have hade it for 20 years still makes that noise does not seem to affect performance.
