  • DIY rear mudguard & the story of ASS SAVERS
UPDATE: Just got a response from the company ASS SAVERS. Apparently the template that I used was something THEY uploaded to Reddit 10 years ago, before starting the company. Another fun little story... 😀
This is a very easy hack that can be made completely for free if you are up for some thieving.
The template I used. 2nd forum post:

Very good of you to still pay homage to the company and show their products, as those with less time than money can benefit from purchasing.

You can also use large 1-2 liter plastic soda bottles to do this.

I was thinking... old butane cans that i have... they are even chrome inside, so maybe if I sand off the paint they'll be sweet chrome fenders for free...

I once tried those milk jugs. I've seen it also work. Tetra pack can also work but might look funny because of the branding of the drink inside😂

Just google on "mudguard template". Then select "Images". There are plenty to choose from.

@@vladstoica1946yep, I might run some mudguards now too because keeping the water and mud spray off tires out of your face makes a huge difference, especially right after rain when it's still wet. Your glasses will be dry and everything is more visible!

Great! More DIY for everyone! BUT! Who uses plastic binders in 2023? 🧐

    Nicely done, but useless guard.

This mudguard is nonsense, dropper post and back will still get sprayed, there have been reviews that show this, also I've tried it. it barely does anything, so back will be covered in mud. So no real difference. But for winter use I need a proper guard to cover the rear tyre to protect against the studs, those wiping the butt is not nice.
If you want proper guard Mudhugger is the way to go for MTB, or SKS, they also do fenders.

This is not a replacement for a proper mud guard, but it's great for not getting your arse soaked when it's wet. I use it when I test bikes in the wet since it's quick to attach.

@@MTBs I've tried it, it did not do much, for road spray it does a bit, but nothing beats a proper rmudguard.
