I don’t understand why we should be on our guard against being corrupted by apostates if we are eternally secure we have nothing to be concerned about.
Mankind having a choice does not take away any of God’s sovereignty. Just as the angels that rebelled did not decrease God’s sovereignty. For nothing can hinder God’s sovereignty. If someone or something was possible to hinder God’s sovereignty then he really isn’t God. It’s amazing how Calvinist love to use that word to support Calvinism; but it doesn’t because God is sovereign no matter what happens.
Israel was the “chosen” people. Yet most chose to disobey. It is both God’s choice and also our choice. Yet no one can grasp how it happens. But this is what the Bible says.

John MacArthur will not bring up this verse. 2 Peter 1:10 Therefore, brothers, strive to make your calling and election sure. For if you practice these things you will never stumble, If it has nothing to do with us then why do we need to “strive to make our calling and election sure.”
Go to Grace to You and search his sermons. All through scripture we are called to examine ourselves to make sure our faith is real. 1st John has like 20 tests to examine yourself. Plus else where in scripture.
@@loiscarteaux9389 Yes sir. I totally agree. I love John MacArthur and have listened to all of his sermons several times over. I just don’t agree with his Calvinism. And don’t believe it is necessary in any way to the Christian life. It only brings division in the Church. As for eternal security I do believe in it biblically. As long as we remain in Christ we are secure. Like Paul said, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day-and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8
So you are telling us that the holy spirit removes his seal upon the believer? God un born's your new spirit and removes your new spirit from the heavenly realm? God gives the believer eternal life except if the believer sins and then all bets are off?
”Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?“ 1 John 5:5 KJV The one who is overcoming is not the one working but the one believing
My only critique and recommendation is to use the term .... THOSE and THESE .. instead of the word WE ..... WE always has the implication to the human race as . .All Inclusive... which is dangerous to use today from the pulpit ....In every Letter/Epistle ..of the day.....the apostle tries to make this responsibility understood...... ....IF ..WE ...(those who are chosen ) SCARCELY BE SAVED ......
