Tiny Part caused BIG chiller problem

- Working on a York YCAS air cooled Chiller. The screw compressor had an issue with the loading control valve. This was causing it to trip on overcurrent alarm. Had a hvac technician do the initial troubleshoot but it turned into more. This chilled water air conditioner provides air conditioning to a commercial building.

I haven't met the tech yet who doesn't make mistakes from time to time.....it's what makes us human. We live and learn.
You human man in times like these that makes you a master at your craft figuring it out
Yup, rookie mistake. Happens when your thinking about 10 different things at once, phones ringing, ect.
Yes sir Glen can happen to anyone it’s even happened to me more than once when you have so many things going on at once.
Nice that you did not edit the mistake. Awsome job
You definitely have great chiller skills 👍🏻
The YCAS compressors have an internal oil filter that needs annual changes, I had one with an increasing frequency of oil Differential pressure alarms because the filter got too dirty. Nice video!!
Correction: proportional solenoid valves are not controlled by variable voltage ( it will cause them to burn out) it is controlled by PWM.
Good info, I always thought of coils as being on and off before this video.
No worries 👍 you were mindful to realize What happened and correct it 👍 also you didn't have to show them the hiccup, your honest and many have learned 😉 ,its a step 🚶♂️ by step 🚶♂️ process. Forget the negatives here .
Interesting I've never seen that way of controlling the slider , I'm used to the 4 different solenoids from 25 to 100 % . That's why I love your videos mate , I always learn something new 👍
You’re able to read the loading solenoid position in the chiller data screen. Compare that to current and you’ll see if it’s loading and unloading correctly.
And as another poster mentioned. Oil filter changes are a must. 👍🏻
Wow what a good idea to pump the refrigerant back into the system instead of a reclaim tank
Love it great video bro keep them coming 🙌🏻👍🏻👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks for the great lesson. Very informative
Thanks for watching
Just an FYI: Pulse width modulation is how that slide valve is controlled
In this chiller no loading unloading solenoid, its vsd chiller
Some Time Valves Is closed or crusshed a Litle be just reguleted
got similar 2002 i look after
the valve should a magnet move the internal pin
how do u check once removed
had issues these leaking on the chanfer o ring is their a torque setting when u re install
wots best sealant ive used 577
but also pro tec.
wish york were still stand alone company .in the day brilliant for tech backbup
What’s the resistance range when ohming out the solenoid? I’m troubleshooting a circuit doing the opposite, won’t load up. Help me Batman. ❤
How change slv solinod loading valve...
like itt~outstanding ~see u around~
"SUPER-YORK "
🤔😎
Stay safe.
Retired (werk'n)keyboard super tech. Wear your safety glasses!
👍
Dammmn son!
Legends make mistakes, Rookies make fucked up.
Backseat? Not frontseat?
Is that suction valve front seated all the way, and then backed off a crack? Also do any of you gents know how often these require an oil change?
When going back into operation, backseat all the way, then front seat at least one full turn. 👍 same with most other service valves on these types of machines if there is a sensor attached to it.
Youk calls that a streling valve. In my opinion that is the biggest pice of sh.. compressor out there. I've has to replace multiple compressors for slide valve issues. I've replaced slide valves trying to save my company money with no luck.
How much does a good chiller mechanic make down in Texas? In KC, they are looking for 8 experienced guys $60/hr plus paid health, pension, holidays and 2 weeks vacation.
Union or non union?
@@HVACTIME They want either. It's a union company, but said they are looking for non-union guys to organize into the union because of the shortage of chiller techs.
Non union here you looking at $35 to $50 for seasoned techs.
You know better take 30 days off.
😆😂🤣
rookie! lol
