I had a similar situation with a YLAA york chiller, compressor was grounded, replaced the tandem set, when i started the circuit up the Hot gas bypass was on, it was cold outside when we started the circuit so i thought the bypass being on was fine, came back next day to check oil levels and clean up the job site and one of the compressor was out on thermal, reset the fault and the loop was at 60, and i could hear the hot gas bypass valve on, i checked my solenoid and i wasnt getting voltage, well ended up finding out someone had taken the hot gas output , removed it from its terminal and landed it on the LLS for stage one, So it was bypassing on every run cycle, I dont know who did it , but i can only assume it was to add add since we have winters down to -30f. Put it back to its terminal and havent had a problem since.
I've had a lot of issues with female unloader solenoids either being energized all the time or not energizing at all. i have an account with 3 RTAC chillers and have replaced two dual triac boards along with solenoid female unloaders. The rtaa is quite a bit difference than the rtac as far as the controls but they function basically the same.
We have a RTAA, and the pressure readings are all messed up. Turns out the chiller uses the temperature sensor to convert the pressure using a pt chart for r22. (We use nu22). Do you know if the refrigerant temperature probe has a well? Or is the temperature probe held by a gasket?
The oil was lost from leaks, repairs, and a compressor change out. In that process we lost just enough to start having symptoms without enough going back in. The system was functioning it was just not able to load properly so we weren't having a migration issue. Since we got the oil level up we have not had any further problems in the oil has maintained properly.
Hi sir, i would like to ask do you know what causes : Low Saturated Suction Temperature (SST) alarm happen? I have change the temperature sensor but still coming out one time per day. After manual reset the alarm then the compressor can run again. I was out of idea. Thanks.
Hello sir question for you we have an old chiller for a high school campus that is going off on unsafe suction. I know that each classroom evaporator coil is extremely dirty. Would that cause the chiller to go on unsafe suction?
I love how all the weird problems tend to have a really simple cause like this.
Knowing sequence of operations can be an extremely valuable tool.
I need to read iom again and come back to this video for fully understanding
Looks like a previous technician was upset with the control panel. Thxs for the vids!
Great job man! I learn a lot about chillers from your channel. Thanks for putting out the information.
I love to watch your videos. I hope to be working on the big stuff someday.
You’re one smart tech
Great troubleshooting!!!

Good and informative video, thank you.
Wish you didn’t hafto yell but it’s noisy, not sure theres any way to avoid that.
Good diagnostics. Finding a screw up can be tricky. And the response is it's always did that or something to that effect
do you have a vid of adding the oil and the procedure used? great video thank you!
Troubleshooting at its best

Havc chiller 5 mint raining .and off whts porablam
Where did all the oil go?
So what happened to the oil? So after the system is working for a few days, you gonna have to remove some of the oil?

It can if the return water to the chiller is coming back to cold.
