I don't want Roman's reign to end in a triple threat, I'd rather him be defeated by one guy so that we can know who is the one person that can defeat Roman Reigns. Therefore I personally don't see why they can't have Roman vs. The Rock on Night 1 and say whoever wins that match will face Cody on Night 2, then Roman defeats The Rock on Night 1 and loses to Cody on Night 2. That way we can get Roman vs. Cody 1 on 1 again
The fact they openly acknowledged it and the not-so-subtle promotions surrounding the *free* press event, knowing what the fans will do makes me think that the people saying that this is all an elaborate work might actually be right

1. The fans haven't been liking Roman as a champ and really want to see Cody as the new WWE champion
2. The rock vs Roman fued has negative hype at this point. It puts the rock hugely over if he's in any way involved with Cody's win and it puts him in direct opposition with Roman so the fued no longer seems so forced.
3. If Jay stops a jimmy interference that adds to the Jay vs Jimmy fued which has basically been withering away in obscurity and inaction since they split up.
Here's the thing WWE want Punk to commentate while injured, imagine Punk commentating Cody's Wrestlemania moment.

The best option is that this week SmackDown the Rock shows up and he gets attacked by Jimmy and Solo! He gets hospitalized and Cody is gonna take back his spot and fight Roman Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania 40! Both Solo and Jimmy will try to inferior and they gets stopped by the Rock, Sami Zayn and Jey Uso. Cody Finishes his story. Rock, Sami, Jey go in the ring celebrate and lift him up on their shoulders. SmackDown Rock and Roman confront each other and agree to have a match at WrestleMania 41 next year. Simulation for that match will be for the position of The Tribal Chief and Head Of the Table of the family.
Or they announce next year's WM logo and location at the press event
And they also announce Rock vs Roman main eventing that show 1 year in advance like Cena and The Rock

Here's my two cents. It's influenced by a couple other takes, and while everything that happened on Friday makes this all a retcon of the obvious Rock and Roman plans, I hope this satisfies everyone.
On the Friday after Elimination Chamber, Rock and Roman have an official contract signing. They both come out and talk a big game about the Bloodline and who should lead it. Then, Rock mentions a very specific part of the contract: that no member of the Bloodline can interfere in this match or Roman loses the title. Roman doesn't like this, but can't argue against a Bloodline elder. After more boasting and chest puffing, Roman signs the contract and slides it over to the Rock, motioning to Solo to make sure Rock signs it. Right before he does, Rock plants Solo with a Rock Bottom through the contract table. Jimmy and Roman start to gang up on the Rock beating him down as well, then Cody comes out and helps even the odds. Rock picks the contract back up, and looks like he's about to sign it.
He then gives it to Cody, who signs it. Cody and the Rock played Roman to get him to drop his guard and swear the Bloodline can't interfere like they did at Mania 39, and the only person who could make Roman do their bidding is a Bloodline elder. It allows for the course to correct to Cody and Roman 2 while setting seeds for Rock and Roman later. Cody then stares down Roman and Paul.
"NO BLOODLINE! NO EXCUSES THIS TIME, ROMAN! ME AND YOU AT WRESTLEMANIA 40 FOR THE UNDISPUTED WWE UNIVERSAL CHAMPIONSHIP. END OF STORY!"

Yup. You & I are thinking alike. It’s a prank by Cody and Dwayne to throw Roman and Heyman (Paul) off guard. But a good twist would be either leading up to Wrestlemania or at Wrestlemania, Cody’s entrance starts with the Kingdom intro, then maybe begin with Smoke and Mirrors, then off to Kingdom.

Honestly if you think The rock isn't fighting at Mania or EC when they just lost Brock lesner and CM Punk your being very optimistic I think they have deliberately left it very open to interpretation on purpose, I think they Definitely planned to have the rock face Roman at EC or Mania, I think the original plan was definitely that Roman came out of Mania with the title but the plans changed due to the McMahon situation and how big the whole finish the storyline thing is, I think pat replaced the Rock! I think they changed the plan to have Cody vs Reigns at Mania to win the belt instead of have him do it at SummerSlam after winning money in the bank so he could switch shows. Then have the head of the table storyline at EC as Seth is unable to fight there. Then punk gets injured so now Seth can't happen! So now Gunther will drop the IC title at EC and face Seth at Mania and all this drama is just to get people talking about the wrestling and not Vince! I think the Rock and Cody are setting up Roman for something! It could just be that Cody ends up taking the title off Roman at EC then at Mania you have Gunther vs Seth and Cody vs Drew then the winners face each other to unify the titles on night two with rock vs Roman for head of the table.
I find it very interesting that Cody hasn't explained what he meant yet and that's deliberate and the most important part. He's obviously made some kind of deal with the rock. Something that benefits him and evens the odds with Roman. So could end up with Rock vs Roman non title for head of the table and when they sign the contract Roman could brag about how he's going to beat the record of Hogan and doesn't even need to defend the title at Mania then Cody's music hit and he comes to the stage and says I said I wasn't coming at Mania but I should have finished that sentence I'm not coming for you at mania night 1. Whatever they are going with you can guarantee one thing the Rock is fighting at some point be it mania or be it at EC! I just don't see anyone else with him fighting at this point other to Roman unless they put him against solo but that would be awful either way you book it if Rock loses how can he have a claim to be head of the table, if solo loses you undo the whole Cena domination.
I love this!!! I really hope WWE don't go through Rock vs. Roman and this is just a way for Roman drop his guard.

I think, and hear me out, that its a play on words. Cody came out and said to Roman and the crowd that he wants his championship and is coming for it but not at Wrestlemania, but what if hes leaving out a very important detail, that hes not coming after it at Wrestlemania "alone". That would be the craziest twist i think ive seen in WWE in i dont know how many years. Get the crowd talking, speculating, and then BAM hit us with that.

This is one of the biggest works in WWE history and everyone fails to see that, CM Punk’s promo against Cody before the rumble perfectly set this up, can’t wait to see what they do with this storyline.

The only way I can see them making the "Cody Walks Away" scene make sense is if this whole thing is a Rocky III storyline and that the reason Cody gave up "his story" is because he lost his nerve. He afraid and once he stops being afraid, he'll get his match and we all get out happily ever after.

The A4 signs are indeed all made by a fan and given out to everyone that wanted it.
WWE didnt do that and they even ask him to stop.
But i give WWE that: They caved in WAY quicker than Vince did with Bryan. But this is a pivot.
The story is eerily similar to what Rock tried with the DCEU (lol, its such a pushover product i initially wrote MCEU) - that is a behind closed doors takeover providing him with enough power to control the narrative. But since Hollywood saw hes tanking at the box office for quite a few times now they said No Thank You in the end.
Edit: Ingesting to see is the story of the TKO shares of the past few days. Its quite normal for the market to get shakeup hugely and the stock rising when such an announcement like the Rock coming back is made. But on Friday the stock kept steady (which is the polar opposite of whats expected) and on Monday it rose considerably when Rock was not announced.
Its not having the wanted results on the bottom line.
Like I said on Steve & Larson's video, there's no reason for WWE to acknowledge the backlash if they're not either going back to Cody vs Reigns or if this was part of the plan all along.

I can see a situation where WWE just wanted to gauge what match to even put on at at wrestlemania. Either people got more hyped for rock Roman and they keep it, or what happened happens and Cody is now even more over than ever for Cody v Roman. It’s kind of a win win
Roman's 4 years as tribal chief is like if Disney Pixar wrote it, scared to move on from his story and try something new yet they drag on and skid Mark on what was supposed to be a masterpiece to tell for the ages. Finally someone is pointing this out. Everyone else is to busy parroting "insiders" that claim this is all a power play. Cole acknowledging the Rocky sucks chants, McFee saying how WeWantCody trended for 72 hours, Cody not giving an answer, Drew telling Cody not to let his dad down and to go after Roman, even WWE youtube channel titling the clip of this "Crowd chants Rocky Sucks". To anyone that has been watching for any length of time this is not how WWE handles something they know is unpopular but they are going to do anyway. If anyone remembers the WM 30 build up they tried everything they could to ignore the Yes Movement until they were literally afraid people would start jumping the barricades. We still might get Rock/Roman I don't know but this is not WWE's MO.
I doubt Roman is gonna work double duty but I really think he should because I feel like if they have both matches everyone will be happy. If it’s a money issue of sorts well brock lesnar isn’t there so you have this load of cash available to use to pay Roman extra for pulling double duty
the best theory i've heard and would actually want to see was: Rock says he didn't specify which title he wants from roman, and that he wants the title of tribal chief. so roman vs rock on saturday and roman vs cody on sunday.
