Hi Doug, I have got my G7 Heritage capo, its the 'Wide' version I ordered for my 12 string acoustic guitar, it has as for a better term, like saw tooth pattern cut into the rubber part (only on the bass side) to be able to contact the octave strings, a great idea ! I fitted it on my Guild, and it works a treat, I just couldn't find a capo that worked on this guitar until now, i'm so chuffed !! I did notice that your 'standard wide' worked well with your 12 string ? the 'saw tooth' one works well also on my 6 string J-45 ! both guitars stay in tune perfect ! Well done G7th great product !!
Yes! I just contacted Simon yesterday and he's sending the "notched" pad out to me tomorrow. I should have it in just over a week. I think I'll add the test of the notched pad to this video. I expect, as you have mentioned, that the notched pad will work on all my guitars without having to switch back to the smooth one. Simon is sending it to me free of charge. Now there is great customer service!

I've used original Shubb C1B capos for over 30 years. I've tried a lot of capos. From inexpensive Kyser, Dunlop, etc. to McKinney. Elliot, Paige and most everything in between. However, probably not as many as you. I've always gone back to the Shubb. I think it has a cleaner sound than everything else I've tried. And it's the easiest for me to put and take off with one hand. Maybe I'll try the G7th, but it seems like it would be cumbersome like it the rest of the yoke style capos.
Hey Douglas, thanks a lot with that very informative review. I am considering buying this capo, but I am hesitating regarding which model I should buy. Appart from the little difference in weight, what will be the advantage to go for the standard sized one ? It seems to me that the wide version will be more future proof, as it will allow me to use it on guitars that have a wider neck than 1 3/4 inch ? (my main guitar is 1 3/4, but I am considering buying one with a wider neck for fingerpicking). Thanks a lot for your help.
I would recommend getting the larger version. I bought the larger one to accommodate not only my 12 string but my Martin 00028vs which gets very wide, very quickly up the neck. Also, I recommend getting the extra 12 string compensated pad or you can just get the 12 string version of the Heritage. The 12 string Heritage with the 12 string compensated pad is the only capo I've found that works on a 12 string consistently without de-tuning the strings. Also, the 12 string version with the 12 string pad will work on a six-string with no problem so there's no need to switch pads back and forth.

In my experience, this will deaden the sound of your strings. Besides, it isn't necessary with the Heritage with the ART system and the fact that you set the minimum tension needed to make it work. The capo does not pull the strings out of tune.
I can tell you what NOT to use - a Paige yoke style capo. It put a mark in my Martin 00028vs. That is why I got the G7th Heritage. The G7th has protected insides so metal doesn't ever touch wood. All of the G7th capos are like that.

Yes. Absolutely. The standard pad on the Heritage is just fine for every six string. I leave the 12 string pad on so I can switch back and forth as the 12 string pad will work just fine on any six string as well.
Yes, the wide is more versatile IMO. My Martin 00028vs has a very wide neck, especially up the neck. Regular size yoke capos will not get up to fret seven on this guitar.
Sorry to say: I hear that the guitars are apparently NOT in tune with the capo on. How can you say it's working perfectly? I am still looking for a capo that would fit my 12-string-guitars. Also Thalia-capos are of no help, even with special pads.

Yeah, that aren’t cheap. But after trying numerous brands and types over 40 years of playing, this is one capo that works on ALL my guitars, six AND 12 strings. It is worth it.

Did you consider the Elliot from the USA?
I see some blue grass players put the yoke style capos right on top of the fret to prevent squeezing out of tune. Any thoughts?

Sylvester McArthur The only thing I did was move it to the fifth fret. The capo isn’t wide enough and the metal edge scraped the binding on the neck.
So....does that knob ever affect playing when you are close to it with your fretting hand?
Never. It doesn't come into play in the least.

Mine has Nick's signature and a date and then a four digit number. I assume the number is unit number (nth Heritage produced to date).

Tochiro Mifune It stays in tune beautifully. You can control the tension so if you over-tighten it it will pull sharp.

Only use enough pressure to fret the strings and then give each one a little tug and I find the Heritage requires minimal adjustment to tuning.
Seems like you always angle the capo. Just coincidence or is that on purpose?
On purpose. It gives my index finger some clearance.
