you need to put the thermometer thru the preheat and about 20-30 minutes also. the oven will heat the air faster than the item in it so for an accurate reading of oven thermometer...pre heat plus 30 min. then see if the temps coincide with your oven knob...cheers!

My GE is driving me nuts. I set it say 450 to bake some fish and tten minutes later hit sto and reset it to 450f, and the temperature shows 260f. Even with cycling, it should maintain within 25f.

So the knob temperature now lines up with thermometer. Why is the blue temperature light still on?
With ours, as long as the oven is on, we have a blue light that is lit up. 2 actually.
How do you know the oven is off now that you adjusted the knob?
Because when you turn the knob to off, it's "off." Most ovens have 2 knobs. One for the setting and one for the temperature.
The brass pin is milled at one site, the button is always sitting on the pin on the same direction
Interesting, this doesn't sound like it would work for you.
You could change the temperature thermostat. Cheap easy fix.
It's digital. This was easier.
Now the knob is not lined up when it is set to off.
It shouldn't be.

Where was the adjustment, on the knob? Hard to tell
Pull the knob off, then reposition it to the correct heat.

@@steveodonnell2921 you pull it off because if it is showing the wrong temperature, then you can push it back on to temperature the temperature gauge shows you. This is how you can now make the knob show the correct temperature.
I think its not possible...the pin has a flat side. This is the callibration from the factory.

My pin that the knob fits on has a flat side also. It only fits on it that one way.
This is not the correct way to do this because most ovens are digital now. Also wouldn’t that mess up turning the oven off because it would still be left on a little bit?
It worked for this oven. So in theory, it is the correct way in my world.
How do you know the thermometer is correct?? ..Maybe it's the termometer that shows everything wrong

Watch Video using a paste of Dawn, Vinigar, water & Baking soda but leave overnight then put racks in very hot water and wipe with a steel wool or a firm brush, use hot water to wipe out inside of oven....will be very clean and not much scrubing...Also in your video, you need to mention if your oven has a calibration feature, if it does you can do that after instead of moving your knob...but it could be your oven sensor or your baking lower element, likely one of these, or just watch the other DIY fixit videos...lol

That thermometer is the shitiest one that you can use and you will always get the wrong results. Invest in a K type thermocouple that attaches to your multimeter!
Not everyone knows how to hook a thermocouple to a multimeter. Which I am sure costs more than this effective way of doing it. My temp has been perfect since I did this. But hey, thanks for the input.
