Nice vid. I’m gradually working on long term storage. Good points about theft and finger prints. Lord forbid your house is broken into, a crime is committed & your employer that has your fingerprints in a national database

Thanks for your kind words. Yeah I had a bad theft a few years ago, had 200rds of 9mm stolen and 8 pistols. Unless I'm on the range shooting I'm wearing gloves.

I like keeping 9mm in the box. You can fit 1500 rounds in a 50 cal can unless you're using those big ass Blazer boxes lol

Keep all ammo in the original boxes. It's just common sense.

Yeah man the gloves are great for this. I don't touch my long term ammo without gloves!

Keep your ammo near the dehumidifier.

Yes!!! Especially living in the SE US, a dehumidifier can pull 1 gallon of water out the air in a 8-10 hours.

I live in NC. Have tens of thousands of rounds just sitting on shelves in my gun room. Some has been there 25 years. Nothing. No corrosion. Nada.
I had a swamp cooler for an air conditioner in New Mexico. Now that, really put the hurt on everything. Left my ammo out in the garage. Too humid in the house. Haha

Many helpful pointers, I can tell you put work into this. Will have to check your other vids.
What was the blue trays called, mtm? My silica gel beads turned purple! I wonder what that means.

Thanks Mike, and yes they are MTM. They have many really cool products for ammo storage. Lol if it's purple you Wana find where that moisture is coming from.

Silicon packs of any kind are a waste of money and time.. a sealed ammo can it a sealed can.. the rubber o-ring keeps moisture out PERIOD .. so the tiny bit of air in the can is not enough to cause wet issues.. and using an oven for 3 hours to re-use those silica packs costs too much money the average oven cost $3 to $4 per hour to use .. $12 to $16 to revitalize something you don't need in the 1st place is a total waste of money and time.. in my oppinnion

I value and respect your opinion and you're not totally wrong about silica but I'm still using it.

fluctuating air temperature can still cause moisture and those seals can go bad even the most minor little crack that u can’t even see let’s in moisture..,,especially if you lose power in a bad storm in the summer for 3 days and it gets humid inside your house… you can get piles of silicon for cheap,, and ammo is expensive be safe not sorry…

I don't keep my mags loaded all the time, wears out the springs, just my opinion.

Cheaper and older mags can wear out but most modern magazines can stay loaded and be totally fine.
