This is Eurovision at its best! When countries send songs with traditional/ethnic elements. Out of these two I prefer "Lane moje", but both are Balkan ballad masterpieces. Zeljko as mentioned wrote other Balkan entries, but he also returned as an artist in 2012 and got a nice 3rd place.
The golden era of Balkan ballads with tradtional instruments, native language and other ethnic elements, how I miss this time...😞💔 Nowadays, most of the songs are just typical unoriginal generic cheesy pop songs in English... 🙄
lmao that's funny considering the 200s was a cheesefest with maybe 1 or 2 OK songs every 2-3ish yeats. Nowadays the music is diverse and modern and thank god we've moved on from the dated cheesefest of the 2000s and early 2010s
Thank you for watching this amazing song! I'm from Bulgaria, eastern neighbor of Serbia! Serbian music is on a whole different level! So soulful, so uplifting! Back in those days Eurovision songs were actually good and represented the countries they came from, unlike now! This song is an all time masterpiece! Everything about it was perfect! ❤
Lane moje is better in my opinion, while molitva has more in vocal sense, lane moje is "more complete" and alongside good vocals has great "traditional music"
Lane moje was an ice breaker for Serbia in Eurovision after 12 years of being baned to participate, and then Maria with Molitva (Prayer) simply step up on the tron!!! Both soooo emotional, power and full of quality!!!
Shawn and Trey, Lookng forward to this Eurovision song battle. This one from Serbia. First song has really nice music and percussion and hypnotic tempo and violin and flute. Good vocal and music and an elaborate stage atmosphere. Very enjoyable. Second song is a dramatic song with a build up in the music, good vocal and harmonies. I agree, a powerful performance. Meaningful lyrics. Your comments on both songs are described very well. I think both songs are solid. I see it's a split decision. I am choosing the first song as the winner of this battle. I like watching these Euroviosion videos. These are two solid performances John.
Zeljko was the author of the song Lane moje, in 2006 he was the author of the song (Hari Mata Hari_Lejla ,2place) of Bosnia and Herzegovina at Eurovision, in 2008 he was the author of the Serbian song (Jelena Tomasevic_Oro,5place) and was the presenter that year. He appears again as an author and interpreter in 2012 with the song "Love is not an object" 3 place,in 2015 author of the Montenegro song " A sad adio",13place.
Kaval flute , goblet drums , with drum sticks , Gong! ... drums ! electric violin , and strings and voice .. Zeljicko gave the tone who was the real boss ! Zeljicko Jocksimovitch ! the hero ! Zeljicko is your Boss ! He ruins you ! 2 nd placement injustice !
I would like to hear your reaction on Serbia Eurovision 2022 Konstrakta In corpore sano. Turn on subtitles! Also check two runners up bop Sara Jo "Muškarčina" (Alpha man) and ballad Zorja "Zorja". Zorja you will really like it.
@@itomlj17 as I wrote in my first post, first of all this is a Serbian song, in the Serbian language, with a Serbian artist and Serbian motifs. , if you care to appropriate it, feel free to do so... Greetings and relax
The topic LGBT was still shy coming up to the daylight in 2007,, so Maria made a step forward... Music was just light accompaniment comparing to her voice. Her powerful but still gentle voice was driving the whole energy, strenght and gave us pure emotion ! Thanks girl:)
Joksimovic's song is for me what Eurovision should be about and not bland ballads or silly pop songs, in case you don't know it was the same year as Turkey's Athena - For real that you did a while ago. As for Serifovic's song I never liked it and also a correction on her name is pronounced like ya not za and because John said that it's his favorite song in Eurovision mine is Goodbye to yesterday by Elina Born and Stig Rästa for Estonia for in 2015, sadly it came 7th.
One thing we need to point out which is obvious but feels like it needs to be, we are Americans. We react to music from all over the world. We do the very best we can with pronunciation and context BUT remember we are from the States and just like you aren't going to get everything right about Texas where we live, we aren't going to nail everything, just the way it is
@@ReactionsToTheClassics I apologize if you thought I was critical of you, it was just an advice based on my experience with foreign names through sports, music, movies and TV etc like in this case Slavic that they use j when followed by a vowel like a y as in yes like Marija and when followed by a consonant or when it's the last letter it has an i sound like Rajkovic or Domagoj. I also correct people here in Greece too when they don't get the right pronunciation of English names like the the frequent mistake made with Washington where instead of wo they say oua or with the actor Charlton Heston that they turned his last name to Easton because Heston( with an apostrophe between s and t) in greek it means shit him used in a similar way to screw him but I still correct them even though it is funny/offensive to say it. As for Texas I know some stuff about it but of course I don't know everything like probably you too, I also don't know everything about my own region which is Attica or Attiki in greek ( It's the region where Athens or Athena in greek is( my town is about 40 km to the south)) and you know some stuff about Greece i imagine.
Thanks for your reaction ,chek the song " Lik u ogledalu" = " Image in the mirror" ,Zorja,2024,she didn't win but many people thinks she deserved to win....very well dynamicly made song, like a film music, outstanding vocal Zorja....Greetings from Belgrade ( semifinal 1 PZE 2024 SERBIA)
Well we in Serbia don't have y and we use j,her Name is Mariya.Like Jesus Mama. And Željko Joksimović song sing abut baby dear like Bambi.Love to Woman like litle baby dear...
