This song still gives me goosebumps! It is one of my favorite winners ever in spite of I didn't like it when she won. "Molitva" means prayer and it is a love song. It was the last winner who sang in native language until 2017 when Portugal won. I like the fact that you started to watch entries from past years. You will realize that you missed a lot of great performances and singers during all these years and you will become more and more a eurofan.

It was great people insisted him to go further back to 2007 and on, bcause initially he seems to have planned reacting only to winners from 2008 on. I recomended him also "Lane moje" from 2004, and told him to search for Serbian and Yugoslav music. I like you, you look nice, keep representing my country like that on youtube :) Pozdrav!

I’m from Serbia, and this is the best song that ever represented us on the Eurovision contest. Now, the song is about how she is very in love with some guy, and eventhou he makes mistakes, she will always love him. Something like that.

That was one of the best nights in my life. I was in the seventh row and had decided it was my number one on 2nd hearing of the promotional video. I remember her at the eurovillage in Helsinki she is short and signed a cd as well as giving people love heart ink pads which I still own. On my way to the arena I saw two Serbian guys carrying their flags and said `Marija's going to win"` They were sort of dumbfounded. I knew it in my gut.

Definitely still holds up, but I think if it were to be done now days the staging would have to change up a bit, but none the less still a great song. Oh, we have entered the renegade years of only televoting. I remember how we were side-eyeing Slovenia, in front of the TV that year. For their use of high-tech props, consisting of a few led-lights taped to the palm of Alenka Gotar's hand :D Serbia won ESC on their debut, as an independent country, in 2007. If I'm not mistaken, it has not happened since Switzerland won the first contest in 1956 :)

i find it really refreshing to see your reactions to esc. I have watched a few other americans react to it, not put everyone in the same corner, but most of them tend to be very disrespectul. only caring about the looks of the singer, weirded out by contestant lika donna international and conchita annd in general not having an open mind. thank you for caring about the music, which it ultimately is about.
Back when this song won, I hated it (and I was so mad it won), but looking back on it a few years afterwards, I was like "Wow, I was so stupid, this is /such/ a great song!" I love it now. And I guess a song can be whatever you make it, but the lyrics actually talk about heartbreak (and still being deeply in love with someone who left you/broke up with you).

That's just your opinion :) For many of us, Lasha Tumbai is one of the biggest hits from Eurovision. And if you did some research, you would know that Ukraine was an automatic finalist that year, because of the top 10 result the year before. I admit it wouldn't have done as well as it did if it wasn't from an ex-USSR country, but people obviously liked it.
Thank you, Marija is one of the best singers still in Serbia, and her mother was great singer of folk music. In Serbia is very important value to be natural, simple, approachable...Dosen't metter what some people talk about us. My respect, and sincere gratitude!

Very powerful song and the more i listen to it the more i love it .
Back when this song won, I hated it (and I was so mad it won), but looking back on it a few years afterwards, I was like "Wow, I was so stupid, this is /such/ a great song!" I love it now.
And I guess a song can be whatever you make it, but the lyrics actually talk about heartbreak (and still being deeply in love with someone who left you/broke up with you).

That's just your opinion :) For many of us, Lasha Tumbai is one of the biggest hits from Eurovision. And if you did some research, you would know that Ukraine was an automatic finalist that year, because of the top 10 result the year before. I admit it wouldn't have done as well as it did if it wasn't from an ex-USSR country, but people obviously liked it.
