Personally guys depending on your budget ! Stick a really good used engine in complete imho when you buy a bare engine you pay more for auxiliary’s etc finding you will have bits usable of it choice is yours . If you can get parts at right price then at £3,200 still worth it although we haven’t seen the rest of the running gear etc yet crack on stay safe be watching with interest 👍🏻😉

Put a good used engine in it, change the rod bearings before it goes in, and you should be golden. E46 m3's are going up in value, so I think it's worth it.

That's what happens to Tecumseh engines. Had the one on my ride-on mower do just that. You could pick up a long motor and just use your existing accessories. Hope you fix the rust properly, not with fibreglass like you mentioned in the last video. Done up nicely, the BMW should still give you a profit. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it. All the best from Queensland Australia.

Common on rod bearings on these fail and do what has happened. I guess there was no replacements done on any invoice you had ? Usually expect an inspection and change between 80 and 100k miles.

3.2 is cheap if its worth it depends on the underside any rust and the boot floor as it cracks where the diff mounts

I would look for a good replacement engine as everything else is probably knackered in it, and put the time and effort into the rest of the car. But hey, whatever you decide will make great content.👍

Are those Brummie accents I can hear? I'm sure they are. Me? Deffo worth the purchase and deffo worth restoring the engine. The spares are out there - expensive yes, but they're out there. No need to remind the other watchers what an E46 M3 looks like restored back to its former glory - for many, its the best M3 ever. Respect is due. 👍❤

and that my friends, is the reason why you change the piston rod-bearings every 80tkm if you are not driving on track, and every 30tkm if you are driving on track.
Motul 300v 15-w50, or for track motul 300v 20-w60 and change every 10tkm. no issues then.
Get a new block, and refurb the s54, because it's an s54

Rebuild if you got you got the cash if not sell it for parts. The main body is in pretty good shape as a shell or drop a cheap used motor just to get it running and might make a good profit

  • @philabrahams383
    @philabrahams383 2 роки тому +1

Don't even think about repairing that engine. Just find a second used engine or an MOT failure on BMW M3 car with bad body work but a good engine. They are out there In the like of the Loot Craigslist Facebook marketplace and local papers.

Oil thinned out and seized con rod bearing and smashed through the engine. Maybe the person used a lower gear at high speed.

Whether you carry on depends on your budget and end objective. If it’s to sell the car on when the project is finished it’s going to depend on the cars provenance as well as it’s apparent condition. I notice you deleted the post I put on the last video about a good place for parts. Nice I was only trying to help.

@@PerformanceRebuilds ah sounds like UA-cam being silly again. I mentioned that there’s a massive BMW breakers called Charing BMW spares in Kent. Another yt channel salvage rebuilds uk, did a walk round of the place when they sold them a BMW for breaking. The contact number for the breaker is in the video description . It was posted about four or five weeks ago. I’d put a link but I don’t know how to. It might be worth your while having a quick look.

    Engine 6k

    Subframes be cracked 1.5k
Do it for the love of it but you won't get a dime back.
Break it for parts as it is easy make your money back

You cannot rebuild that engine, I don’t really think anything can be salvaged from the engine component wise internally that crank is most likely gonna be scored and destroyed, who know you might get lucky,
Best thing is to buy another engine and throw it in and sell it that’s your best bet.
