Esee/Rowen 1095 is an excellent knife steel. It holds an edge way longer than the F1 in CoS (an apparent DBK favorite). I own the junglas and its pretty good when thinned a good good bit behind the edge. Ive thinned mine around 30-40% behind the blade and midway up the blade and its great now 😁 gets pretty dang slicey sharp to like push cutting paper sharp
I would argue that the benefits ascribed to the softer steel on the large blade are true of soft steel on smaller blades. I don’t really like using high hardness steels except on clean materials like card board.
GOOD VIDEO! Have you or thought of testing KaBar BK-7 or BK-9 or even the TOPS Tahoma Field Knife. i think you you should do some sort of elimination bracket competition between blades.
Edge angles are very different, as is philosophy of use. The 5 is a sharpened pry bar, meant to help downed military aviators. The Junglas is thinner and, like its predecessor the RTAK II, is meant to be an alternative to a machete and light hatchet. It's basically akin to a seax or leuku.
I have the Esee Junglas with the Esee 3 here at Alaska Raft Connection. Why??? because I bought and paid for them!!! Kidding aside - they are both in hi-viz orange G10 with venom green coating. My 3 is mounted to the Junglas Sheath using the Cordura Moly accessory in companion mode. Mostly Wall Hangers!!! Again Kidding. The reasoning for this pairing is a grab and go when called upon for aircraft crash recovery, boat wreck recovery and Snowmachine recovery. In other words - a tight knit bright colored loss prevention combo that has to be simple, functional, versatile, reliable and ridiculously visible in demanding conditions. This dependable combo truly is an emergency/survival option for remote wilderness response. The Junglas I'd classify as a hybrid Latin Machete + Sami leuku knife featuring a tactical handle (having the 'Tactical' part for emphasis on reducing carry profile more so than in-hand ergos). I am pleased to see you guys liking this knife. One big thing you left out!!! Come on guys... THE SHEATH is exceptional with important features worthy of mention!!! @Randall Adventure Esee - Thanks for a great well thought out product, attention to details with quality control, and reputable customer service with warranty.
@@RandallsAdventureESEE Friend of mine walked into my Alaska Raft Connection hangar to talk knives. He is a folder collector vs. user of higher end stuff like Chris Reeve, ZT, etc. Not really a fixed-blade guy... he asked why I had the Junglas and piggy-backed the E-3 as companion to it on the response wall of the raft shop. My answer was as stated in above commentary. He then went on to inquire if to get one... what would be my advice on the most suitable all-around model. I said that he'd highly likely want to obtain an E-6 and to also consider the hi-viz option. A week later his new E-6 in Orange G10 w/ venom green coating on the blade was in hand for show and tell.

@@DutchBushcraftKnives then again if you are going to review a wild card, better use the cold steel trench hawk. General Mickey will not be disappointed.
DBK guys my 11yr old son Logan who loves watching your vids would like your opinion on the Casstrom Woodsman designed by Roger Harrington. Great video's guys, much appreciated.

I own the junglas and its pretty good when thinned a good good bit behind the edge. Ive thinned mine around 30-40% behind the blade and midway up the blade and its great now 😁 gets pretty dang slicey sharp to like push cutting paper sharp
Nice editing skills.
Can you do the schrade schf56lm?
The huge handle really lets this knife down.
Great video boys.
This stepped up DBKs vids again for sure!!!!
Podcast about this knife ??
Hey guys you should test more esee knives, esee is a great company which makes great knives ! 👍
We'd be ok with that....gonna send them another knife or two....and would really like to see them really beat on it a bit....
L6 is a supper steel, and it has amazing toughness and is great for big blades.
The only reason I wont buy a esse is because you cant strike a ferro rod with it
You guys should try the SFS and/or the Ekinox, both by Akeron (Armes Bastille, Paris). Good knives.
Keep up the great job!
I would argue that the benefits ascribed to the softer steel on the large blade are true of soft steel on smaller blades. I don’t really like using high hardness steels except on clean materials like card board.
GOOD VIDEO! Have you or thought of testing KaBar BK-7 or BK-9 or even the TOPS Tahoma Field Knife. i think you you should do some sort of elimination bracket competition between blades.
i love it😂 these intros man
Pls compare with the Fällkniven Modern Bowie?
pls do a vid about a traditonal western bowie
Can't believe you're a bushcraft channel and haven't reviewed the izula, izula II
the whole bush knife industry likes to pretend matches and lighters dont exist.
Its the same steel as the Esee 5 that you put down, so what has changed here ??
Edge angles are very different, as is philosophy of use. The 5 is a sharpened pry bar, meant to help downed military aviators. The Junglas is thinner and, like its predecessor the RTAK II, is meant to be an alternative to a machete and light hatchet. It's basically akin to a seax or leuku.
can you guys test the el Salvador condor machete and rate it?
You guys should try testing Leatherman knifes
We appreciate your comments and loyalty.....also you make a great point....the sheath is pretty bad ass..
@@alaskaraftconnection-alask3397 your story, and many others like it, are what have built this company to what it is today....We are simple folks...we stick to what we know and like, and more importantly, believe in. This is an example of the word or mouth recommendations that we have built a company on and we GREATLY appreciate it.
Can you guys test an Mtech
