    I always had problems with a tactic used by a casino here in Ohio. There was a blackjack dealer, a woman, that would scream at the top of her lungs if someone at her table got a blackjack. It had the effect of completely disrupting my train of thought. Sometimes i would even forget the running count. Even though they had favorable rules, dealer peek, S17, LS, DAS, resplit to four hands, no resplitting aces, etc, i always had trouble making money with her in the casino. I learned to just avoid her.

    It'll be exciting to turn 21 and get going. I've got basic memorized, variations memorized, and have 1 deck counted down in 16 seconds. And I still have over a year to work!
    Now let's hope the blackjack scene doesn't go to total crap in 1 year.

      @@faith_alone Maybe, but with all the games here you'd think there would be some good ones. I heard from a Gaming Authority official that years ago a casino out in Mesquite applied to have a 3-1 pay out on BJs. At first he felt it would be great for the players, but the commission decided not to allow it because they thought all other casinos in the state would do it and it would cut into the taxes from those games. I disagree, I think it would get more people playing them and pump up the volume on the house take and the taxes. The true odds of getting a BJ are about 9 or 10 to 1 anyway, so the house still has a big edge.

    Speaking of bankroll management, any good tutorial videos on CVCX? Have the software, played with it a little, but confused about how to properly input wonging, how to input my deck estimation rounding technique (always round down), and how to properly input time away from table during wonging sessions... any help is greatly appreciated!

      Also Colin, any advice on how to know I’m ready? Is your virtual test out for members only? It’d be great if your services were more a’ la carte and I could pick and choose to use the test out, or the bankroll management app without the video course or drills... (I do have your phone app however and use it for quick prep sessions)... as of right now I’d say I fit in to the category where I’m close, but not good enough for the casino for the long haul... but would really like to have a better gauge... (also use CVBJ and perform well)... once again, any advice HIGHLY recommended!

      If the casinos go to CSM's just quit blackjack and maybe try sportsbetting. This field is called Sabremetrics and was used to help the 1976 Oakland A's win the World Series that year. Nobody really "knows" the odds in sports betting. But then you're in there with the rest of the schmucks who think they have a system. Good luck. Med school or engineering or physics is a better bet if you are "at" that level.
      The only other possibility is that someone detects a pattern in the CSM's and figures out a practical way to determine this in the field. Not likely. You're back to using a large fortune to make a small forturne. However, doing this online has possibilities because it is possible to use a computer to help ferret out patterns when playing online. Winning a Nobel Prize is not much harder. One could also use fast algorithms to determine the next card dealt in a so-called random shuffle. But at present this is an unsolved problem. If you have three hands before the deck is reshuffled, then on average you will see seven cards before action begins. If you could come up with an algorithm to predict the next card after seeing the first seven cards in a robogame pseudo-random shuffle, you could easily beat online robodealer of blackjack or any other game for that matter. That would include bonus bets as well. You would be master of the universe. That is because only G-d can make a random shuffle. All computer shuffles, as done in Monte Carlo simulation, are based on only two numbers, the offset and the modulus. In priniciple they are deterministic, not random.

    No matter how good you think you are it's a different story when you get on the scene
    of a moving table in LV, AC, or other Casinos. You can psych your own self out if you
    bet more than accustomed or due to the stresses found within Casinos. Lights/Noise
    can mess w/ ones mind & if you get rattled or shaken up for any reason it's always
    best to stop betting until things are more in your favor. Expecting unreasonable wins
    of money beats more people or I should say.... you beat yourself thru bad decisions
    so have discipline when you gamble. The young guy example fits this perfectly for
    what not to do. IF you win $20-$30k you have a new problem....lol, getting it out of
    the Casino? If you cash out the whole amount you'll pay the IRS right there & it'll
    be upwards of 55% but if you plan to move $9,900 a few times you pay none. You
    need to think about it & Get the Money Out.... then form a new bank & play more
    because they'll have Comped you a meal & a room to keep you there. Do it right.
    peace

    Been practicing a lot. Probably going to have my first counting trip to a casino in a week or two. I was hoping I could maybe get some tips on how you guys leave the table when the count is bad, and then come back for a new shoe? In my practice, I’ve had to “leave the table” multiple times sometimes before my shoe turns out favorable enough for me to stay for the majority of it. Is there Anyway to make all that leaving and coming back look not suspicious?

    The casinos are so much better at figuring out what kind of player you are. Have you seen the YT show "Slot Lady?" She would often find one deck games with great penetration, sometimes down to 1/5 of a deck. But she was strictly a basic strategy player and would parlay on wins only, not on the true count which at times would become astronomical. If she played like an advantage player, she would have gotten a much worse cut. RIght up front. If you only get a half deck penetration in one deck Vegas blackjack you won't make much money. If you start parlaying, especially on negative counts, you will give a lot back to the house.

    • @gamereservebig6248

      I am a student of Jerry Patterson, I use the concept that he taught of 'locked win'. Meaning as you win, you set aside about a third of chips you win. If the game goes south (worse), you walk away with your wins. The next what Jerry Patterson taught to leave the table is game break down. This is well detailed in TARGET FACTORS & improved TARGET PLUS by Jerry Patterson. This is briefly described in his book "Break The Dealer", availble on Amazon. Professor E C Davies (New Blackjack, World Class Blackjack & Zero Proximity Betting) uses game type change to leave the table. There are six game types according to professor Ellis Clifton Davies, you then leave the game according to bad game types. John Taoromino advocates UCP (Ultimate Confirmation Process) to determine if the game is worthwhile to stay or get into. My Blackjack website is www.blackjacksa.com

    • @Blackjackapprenticeship
      @Blackjackapprenticeship  5 років тому +4

      I disagree with Jerry... that's how a gambler thinks. A card counter ends a session when they either can't play well (tired), the playing conditions have gotten bad (crowded), they are getting too much heat, or you simply want to be done.
      Every shoe we play is generating EV, so we don't try to "lock in wins" or anything. We simply generate EV until we want to be done generating EV!

    @medexamtoolscom 5 років тому +1

    Just listening to you talking about certain things, I don't think you're thinking of this in the right terms, regarding what you call "bankroll management". There are 2 choices.... you can minimize your risk of ruin, which is what I do.... or you can maximize your median outcome. In the first, it doesn't MATTER how much money you have for your decision of the amount of money to bet, the amount you should bet is the same no matter how much or little money is in your bankroll, and your risk of ruin decays exponentially with respect to your bankroll amount, but your expected gains will be linear with the passage of time. In the 2nd, you are following the kelly criterion and betting more and more the more money you have, and you would have risk of ruin decaying in inverse proportion to the money you have, but your expected gains will be exponential with the passage of time. I don't have enough money to justify the 2nd one. But I can tell you that if I DID get my bankroll up to 50k, the probability losing my money at that point would be around 1%. Basically it's like every additional 7500$ you have, halves your risk of ruin, if you play to minimize risk of ruin. And 50% risk of ruin starting from 7500 is bad enough already for me thank you. But there's no "bankroll management", playing to minimize risk of ruin, it's part of the method. For instance, in a 2 deck game with doubling only on 10 and 11 allowed, the breakeven truecount is about 2.5, and the amount I bet will be the minimum bet, which I have to bet, plus 2 to 3* (depending on where the cutcard is, it varies by the dealer) the minimum bet for each 1 the truecount is more than 2.5. There is no part of that which accounts for the actual amount of money I have.... it's an exact formula, because the risk-of-ruin-minimizing bet amount with a bankroll of 10k is the same as with a bankroll of 50k because you're going for linear gains and exponentially decreasing risk of ruin. But my point is, that what you call "bankroll management" is part of the method if done right. The amount I bet is an exact function of the truecount, I'm not sitting there wondering on how daring I want to be, when done correctly, there is a correct AMOUNT of daringness and if you haven't figured out what that amount is, you have some work to do before you have your method truly perfected. When you have your method perfected, it will be boring as hell to play this game, because you will have no freedom at any time, no decisions to make, everything will be decided for you already, and it will not be at the fancy of how daring you feel like being.

      If you earn a lot of money you should. Of course you give yourself generous deductions on any of your expenses. You can include transportation and lodging if they are not comped. You can also deduct sofware costs and hardware costs. So you will be unlucky if you pay them one red penney. I don't think you have to report the value of the comps. If one year you have losses, IRS allows you to deduct the losses without auditing. If you get audited, forget it. You're toast.

Perfect basic strategy, perfect counting, and a correct bet spread for your bankroll and desired risk of ruin. The app is a great way to practice but it does have some limitations since its about 100x cheaper than our membership and pro betting software. If you have friends who count as well having one of them test you out would a great idea too to see if you can flesh out and mistakes on your end.

    Why is this system +1 for low cards and -1 for high cards. Would anything keep me from counting it the other way. I think that's the hardest for me not being able to learn it yet is getting m brain to work against how its logical to count.

      this counting system is called Hi-Lo and was created decades ago by mathematicians. some history here: www.blackjackapprenticeship.com/the-history-of-blackjack-and-card-counting/

      It's because situations of having a lot of high cards still in the deck is what are positive for the players. Therefore, when a lot of low cards have come out, the count goes into the positive, meaning positive for the player. You could reverse the +/- sign of everything and it would all work the same, but the positive situation for you would then be a negative count if you find that to be more intuitive.

    • @russlehman2070
      @russlehman2070 3 роки тому

      You certainly could reverse the sign, but then you would be making your big bets in negative counts rather than positive. Keep in mind that when you have seen more high cards than low, that means that the cards remaining in the shoe have more low cards than high.

      @@dougstyles5091 I loved online poker because of the speed. Live poker, especially if you play tight starting hand requirements (which you generally should if you want to win) can be painfully slow. The online game moved about twice as fast as a live game, and you could play mutiple games at the same time, which meant you could get the same hourly earn at a lower limit, and therefore lower risk of ruin. My first successful venture in advantage gambling was at online poker. This was in 2004 and 2005, when the online games were ridiculously soft. The games got much tougher after that and I ended up losing my bankroll, as I didn't adjust well and didn't drop limits as soon as I should have. I still play some live poker now and then. The nice thing about poker compared to blackjack is that the casinos don't care if you're a winning poker player, because you're not winning their money. They get their rake out of every pot, so you're not impacting their bottom line.

For the most part, American players don't trust CSM's, even clueless players, so they never really seemed to gain much traction. Some casinos here used to have one or two tables (usually the tables with the lowest minimum) with CSM's and they would sit empty while people played the tables with shoes. There are still some decent double deck games here, though usually higher minimum bet than the shoes. Penetration varies from excellent to horrible.
