I think the best advice overall, in all seasons I've had as a filmmaker is to create, always create, keep creating, this is a good habit and will train that filming muscle memory. The time will come where you as a filmmaker will be needing all these filming experiences, even if its just personal proyects. Don't stop filming, keep creating!
My lesson learned from 2023 is that it's ok to not chase your dreams as a filmmaker and remember to take a step back and realign yourself with what is important to you. I find that realising this makes you a better filmmaker in the end, a more intentioned driven filmmaker. Thanks for the advice Danny! Looking forward to what everyone will be creating in 2024!
'Not defined by the response by others' That's something I'm working on with my films when my film doesn't get views or there's a festival rejection. Happy 2024🎉
Been so grateful for your constant transparancy and support for your UA-cam audience, these videos have helped us grow as filmmakers so much and its been exciting watching Danny become a real formative talent! I finally finished my own short and I'm super proud of it, if anyone is looking for a way to spend 20 min, it's the only thing up on my channel! Happy filmmaking everyone.
Love all these lessons. One that I'll add is the importance of bringing my camera everywhere. I lost my Dad this year. I'm so grateful that because I've brought my camera on vacations and trips over the last 4 years that I can always see and hear him from my videos. Those videos make me zero dollars. But they are worth more than anything anyone could ever offer to pay me. Thanks!
I’m so glad I discovered this video. I’ve been trying to find my path in the filmmaking community and I will create in 2024 and not look back. Thank you for this Danny.
I really like the message of this video, it reminds me of how a couple years ago I interviewed a musician for a school project and the quote that summarizes my big takeaway is: "Make music for music's sake," do the art to do it, do it because you like it, that's the drive that I get as I continue to make film and music projects. Thanks for a big year of inspiration!
I love this man. Love this. I recently took the courage to start posting UA-cam videos and also did a weekly wrap up of what I learnt in 2023. I think this is exactly what I was trying to say 😅 amazing as always mate.
I think this video is timely, so many filmmaking role models that would aspire us from the last 5 years have been moving on to other things and it's been hard to find inspiration. This has rekindled that for me, with great gems of wisdom to top it off. Thanks Danny!
When I watch your youtube, I feel like you're making these films exactly for me. Like I'm on the Truman show and there's just a mococoa drink ad my wife keeps forgetting to plug...you know, that comes fresh from the upper slopes of Mount Nicaragua. But, in seriousness. "You're in a season, and that season will pass." I needed that.
Thank you for your inspiration for the past year, cant put my appreciation in words, hope you continue to do what you love, and inspire others. Lets make 2024 worth every seconds.
First off, inspiring. Secondly, is no one going to talk about that ending? I mean, as a huge fan of Star Wars (and pop culture in general), what a way to sign off. I love it
Danny I swear it mention it everytime but meeting you, Carlo, Matti, and so many others still blows my mind. I took the chance and bout the ticket wayyyy in advance even when I didn’t have the money cause I knew it’d be a change to motivate me and my filmmaking. And it truly has. I just made my longest short this last week 4 days in a row filming at 7 am at my job at a movie theater and made it with coworkers. As tiring as it was I now will begin looking to festivals to submit ! You helped create that spark. Letting you is something I’ll never forget cause you’ve impacted my life and maaaannyy others. Thank you Danny and keep going . Love ya!
Danny I've been watching your videos since 2020 when I was in high school, I'm in college now pursuing my dream as a filmmaker, thanks for always posting you're videos. They've helped me grow as a creator but also as a person trying to understand what I want to do in life. I love you
Take the leap. If you’re scared, you’re going the right direction. Comfort is a killer. When you first feel exhausted, you’re half way there. At the end of the project, it’ll be all worth it.
maaaaan listen. The timing of this is a God send. I recently released some proof of concepts for films I'm trying to get funded with little to no traction and have been in a slump for a little while. I've been feeling myself inching towards wanting to cease all creative endeavors in filmmaking as a whole (I've been doing film for a little over 10 years now). This video was a gorgeous reminder to allow myself to pivot and just let life do what it does. Film at times feels like an endless uphill battle of trying to "make it" and the longer you do it, the more you feel yourself change and grow without your environment necessarily doing the same. It's always a blessing to remind yourself that the feeling you think you'll get from "making it" isn't in that destination but is rather in the journey itself. Stop chasing that invisible later and bask in the visible now. These are the good times.
Love you too Dany 💗 I would love to acknowledge that your presence in UA-cam space makes a huge impact. Whenever I get to watch your new vid it feels somebody somewhere is so purest in what he does despite the fact that majority of content creators on this platform promote something else in regard to filmmaking. Thanks for being so kind and simple. You’re one the few inspirations I had to start my own youtube channel. Much love 🤍
You are such an inspiration. Am saying not just by learning things from your films but as how you understand life and creative art form to express oneself. Happy new year my friend.
Made my first short film back end of last year and it was an amazing experience. I entered it into some festivals and it’s gone and won a couple of awards! Thanks for the inspiration Danny.
BRO! You never fail to inspire! Every video from the last 4 years I’ve been watching your channel has always given me the inspiration to make amazing art! Cant wait to see what else you come up with this year! 🙌
Thank you, Danny! I am 28 and I am finally pursuing my dream of becoming a filmmaker, a dream I was postponing for most of my life. I hope that your channel will help me navigate this world and grow as a filmmaker. Thank you for your kind words and great advice! This is exactly the type of video I needed right now. Thank you! Oleg
I'm thankful for what you bring to this community Danny. The work and perspective you bring to this generation of filmmakers is powerful man. Thanks for doing your thing, and sharing it with us here. All the best for the new year.
I don’t know about advice, but I started going full-time about three years ago. I was able to do a lot of work for nonprofits in the beginning and then started doing some videos for bigger organizations. But when I got into it, I wanted to do documentaries and more creative things, but because I had to pay bills. I started to lose my love for filmmaking because I was doing things that weren’t as creative. Around this time I was getting so many jobs. It was hard for me to keep track of it all then shortly after (last week) I came home from a shoot and was so tired. I left my equipment in my car. it was stolen that night. My mom at previously offered to be a project manager for me, but I wasn’t sure if I wanted it, but I had to take her up on it recently and it’s been some of the greatest help I’ve had since I started entrepreneurship.so I guess my advice is used those resources around you up talented people who may not be in your industry, but could be helpful. other advice never leave your equipment in the car. Lol
Thanks Danny for your inspiration over the years!! Literally every Lesson you just mentioned is exactly what I'm feeling. Was able to make a short film and a couple other passion projects this year because of your inspiration and commitment to JUST MAKING STUFF.
Beautiful stuff, brother! Thank you so much for all that you've given to this community. Thank you for sharing your intellect and your heart. Thank you for sharing your triumphs and your insecurities. I made my first feature film this year and it was such a comfort and inspiration getting to watch you walk through that journey as well. I look forward to the day when our path's cross. Until then!
Very inspiring video yet again! The last lesson really spoke to me the most. At the beginning of 2023 I was probably at the highest point of motivation to create things ever, a couple months later I was suddenly at the lowest point of motivation ever. My low point this year I really thought about quitting and starting a trying a different career, but there is still something in my that says "don't quit". It's so weird how quick the whole motivation spirit can change. Taking it slow for a bit really helps in my opinion, it slowly rebuilds that motivation. I hope 2024 will be a very creative year for every one! :)
I needed to hear this. Too often I go back and forth on ideas so much I talk myself out of them. From now on, I'll make a film that I want to see in the world, not a film that I think an algorithm will like. Can't wait to see what you bring out in 2024 Danny! 🔥❤
Thanks Danny! 2023 is the most productive yeas of mine so far and part of it because of your inspiration. I will keep it up and work harder to be a better story teller! can't wait to see more of your films in 2024! Love from Melbourne, Australia.
Thank you for making 2023 such a memorable year. I had the chance to meet you, and see the film you made. It has pushed me to continue creating and want to learn more. Just finished a schooling, but I know it’s only the beginning. Can’t wait to see more of the cool stuff you plan to make this year!
Mark Hamill the goat haha. Man point no. 5 hit hard, but I love all the points. Thank you for this - you always manage to uplift somehow, which is very admirable and a rare trait these days it feels like.
Thank you for sharing what you learned in 2023! Can’t express enough how much seeing your journey and films have helped me to create more authenticity. Super appreciate what you’re doing dude. Can’t wait to see more 🤙🏾
Happy new year, Danny, Anna and Sansa!! Your words are so true brother. I'm actually already following your advice without knowing, in the lines of: "Just make the thing you want to see in the world". That and the: "Compare less, act more" are my battle flags this year. Hope I get to share a bunch of great stuff with the world, and also hope this is a great year for you and the fam.
Fantastic tips and advice! Thanks for sharing such personal and inspiring insights. Excited to implement these strategies on my own channel and videos.
Man everytime I feel like Its not worth it, your videos manage inspire me to get up and push through it. I love every shot in this video bro. May the force be with us this yeart :)

1:27 'You'll find your people'
This really is it. Can't be found if you're not there to find.

Saw your feature back in October, giving massive inspiration to other Philly filmmakers such as myself
Ay thank you brother! Go birds!
You're always an inspiration b/c you are vulnerable with yourself - and that's a strength! Happy New Years!
Been so grateful for your constant transparancy and support for your UA-cam audience, these videos have helped us grow as filmmakers so much and its been exciting watching Danny become a real formative talent! Making something alone is the achievement. Love it.
man, some of the color in these clips is just insane
I love this man. Love this. I recently took the courage to start posting UA-cam videos and also did a weekly wrap up of what I learnt in 2023.
I think this is exactly what I was trying to say 😅 amazing as always mate.
These 3 mins were all that I need. Thanks for that! Happy New Year!
Happy new year! Thanks!
I think this video is timely, so many filmmaking role models that would aspire us from the last 5 years have been moving on to other things and it's been hard to find inspiration. This has rekindled that for me, with great gems of wisdom to top it off. Thanks Danny!
I like the way new style of your youtube videos, I noticed that after you made the movie, you started publishing youtube videos in a movie style
When I watch your youtube, I feel like you're making these films exactly for me. Like I'm on the Truman show and there's just a mococoa drink ad my wife keeps forgetting to plug...you know, that comes fresh from the upper slopes of Mount Nicaragua.

“The laughs will get you through the trenches” So true. Every 48 hour shootout I compete in, we end up slap happy by the end.

Dope approach to making a reel. I love it.

You keep inspiring me! Man, that was great - happy 2024, Danny!
Thanks dude!
Great reminders and tips 😊
Great video, highly relatable to my last year
Happy New Year Bro! The Mark Hamill Cameo is crazy. Best of luck in 2024.
Hahah right!
Always so inspiring! Not sure who is going to see this but here goes haha
Last year was kind of the opposite for me. I started to lose my love for creating and that really sucked. Long story short I quit my job as a "social media guy" for a lack of better term. It was my first ever gig as a content creator for a gym in my city. I was stuck in this honeymoon phase of "wow I was able to turn this passion of video creation into a real paying job" and when that wore off I realised that the type of content I was producing for this business wasn't fuelling me creatively. If that makes sense...
Since quitting I'm now going through the process again of building up my portfolio and really setting in on creating content I love to create. Like you said in your video. Creating content and getting it out into the world that I personally love is a big goal for me this year.
Really love all the work you do and again it is truly inspiring. Love from Melbourne Australia.
I am not a filmmaker, however I do create things through the medium of painting/drawing. And I can see these lessons been applied in a more universal matter. Thank you for sharing your insights. Its always a pleasure to see your videos. And I hope, I will be able to see your movie in the EU. Since I live in NL.
Thank you, Danny. Excited to see all the wonderful things you will do in 2024 🤍
I love you too!
I'm not tearing up
MARK HAMILL?!!!! lol but i also agree with everything you said. especially the making films with your friends part. SO HAPPY TO HAVE MET YOU N 2023, DANNY! always looking forward to what you make next
Hahaha nothing like meeting
Skywalker
i'm not gonna lie, I just started watching your videos in 2023. You really inspire me a lot trying to get into filmmaking. Happy New Year!! more uploads please hehehe.
Haha glad to have you man! Thanks!
