Man this video comes at the most perfect moment for me. I‘m currently in pre production for a short film and actually intended to use your method for storyboarding and now theres a whole video about it! Thanks for being an inspiration in general!
I just want to let you know that I watched your baseball short film …. and long story short now I’m in fullsail university for cinematography! You inspired me to take that step to improve on a whole other level. Thank you for taking hours to edit, create, and plan your work to share it to the world! You truly are inspiring!!
Answered my prayers. I was literally thinking about a story board video the other day, and how I wanted to see your story boarding process. Currently in the process of making my first ever short film, so this was super helpful! Thank you!
Love the idea of keeping the storyboard workflow simple and to the point. We can really get way too detailed and spend way too much time getting all that out there.
Danny, I wish I could have seen this video explanation when I first tried Milanote. Milanote is like a blank piece of paper that you can do anything with it. I just looked at it and thought "What do I do with this?" This video is so helpful because you show us how you create a storyboard and you show us that it does not have to be perfect and only conveys the idea of what the shot looks like. Happy New Year!
Loved this! I’ve used Milanote for all pre-production, including storyboarding for a couple of years now (inspired by your previous videos). Really enjoy seeing how other filmmakers go on about their thought process on the matter and this already gave me some new ideas on how to improve mine 🙏
Literally came at the perfect moment. But putting this off and needed some structure to motivate me to shoot and just saw down to storyboard now. Thanks so much man
You know what would impress me? If Milanote could read your storyboard text and use it to generate AI image sketches for each note. That would make it a killer app.
Loved this video! You touched a bit on something that I got as a piece of advice a couple years ago that's been super helpful for my projects: the more comprehensively you complete a given phase of production, the more efficient the subsequent steps become. In other words, if you don't lock off each step as a finished one, you shouldn't move to the next step. Finish your script, THEN move to pre-production. Finish all the pre-production steps, and THEN figure out shoot dates. And definitely don't start color-grading or sound-designing until you are satisfied with the edit. Some things can be hard to implement into this process, such as the fact that pre-production involves finding locations, which ultimately results in setting a schedule up, but I think the point is that you should defer those kinds of things to the end of the respective phase to make sure that you've got a project that is fulfilling it's purpose before you rush onward to the next step. Typically, rushing(or alternatively a lack of planning) has been the reason some of my projects earlier on didn't succeed in the ways I wanted them to. Huge fan of your approach to this whole 'filmmaking' thing.
Yo, really appreciate you walking through this. I'm prepping for my first tv commercial and super nervous. Have the idea in my head but trying to explain and walk it out so others can get on board is difficult at times. Going to try this out, Thanks!
Hi Danny, great, simple, straightforward work once again. Thank you. I've been using Milanote for almost two years now in my workflow and it really is a beast. You're project visible at (01:04) looks amazing. Any Chance you are doing a tutorial type of video on how you are structuring your Milanote projects?
Omg as soon as I heard that intro background music it gave me a bit of ptsd from last year haha. I used it for background music in the interviews of a docu series that i did where I was overworked and underpaid 😂 Love the content as always Danny ❤ I’m very lazy with storyboarding so this was really helpful in giving me something to refer to in the future
this is incredible - I had no idea there was something like this out there! thank you so much for sharing ~ I've decided to start making videos again, and I am so excited to try this out as I start developing my video production skills.
Hey off topic , I know you have used the Sony 24-70 for awhile and love it , did you get the ii when it came out or stick with the first version ? Cheers ! Love your work
that's awesome yeah they released a second version in 2022 that is lighter and smaller then OG version, I can get the first version used for a HUGE discount compared to the 2nd, I think you have put me over the top for going for the OG, as im getting conflicting reviews if the 2nd version is worth like 900$ more other then the weight being like 200g less @@DannyGevirtz
Yo, I picked up the original version after seeing Danny use it a while back. It's a beast! Super happy it and worth saving your money or investing it elsewhere :)@@Tonellacam
cheers I think im just going to buy the first gen then , the new 2nd gen compared with the a used one is like a 1400$ difference in Canadian money where I live @@AlexThaxton
That was super helpful! Thanks! Any way you could publish a templefied version of your master Milanote board for making short films? Would love to see what I may be missing and not even know it or how I could do things different/better within Milanote.
Hey Danny! I'm a film student myself and this tool is amazing for storyboard creation. However I can't find specific frames online for most movies and trying to screenshot them results in a black screen. How do you usually go about it?
Very nice video, I love the causy vibe here 😁 I'm actually building a storyboard software, some kind of mix between shot designer and a 3D approach inside Unreal Engine. Based on your experience in filmmaking, do you think that's something you might be inclined to use or would you rather stick to storyboard with images like you've shown in this video ? I'd love to discuss your pre production process and see how I could on my side improve the software
Hey Danny! You inspire me buddy! I recently got an fx6 and some lenses and dropped my first short film a couple of days ago. I don’t plan on looking back. If you’re looking for someone to shoot and vibe with I’d love to learn under you and be an asset to you and your brand. Thumbs me up if there’s any hope of this Dream of mines.😊

Danny I found out about milanote a couple years ago from you, and I LOVE it. @milanote give this man a raise!

I agree!

Do you maybe have a pre-production template for Milanote?
