My favorite thing about this movie is that Charlie's PTSD is treated realistically. The problem with mental illness is that it's in your head, and most people think that "in your head" means imaginary. Most other movies would have had Charlie focus his mind *real hard* and then make that shot. But mental illness doesn't work that way. This movie does it right: Charlie takes aim, and then has a breakdown and can't fire. He never succeeds. He never gets his hero moment. Because that's what mental illness does to people. And I really *really* appreciate that this movie acknowledges that.
And Diana treated him with love and compassion despite it all. Charlie says they'd be better off without him. Diana: "Oh, Charlie, who would sing for us?" She acknowledges his value beyond what the mental illness has taken away from him.
With regard to the claims that Wonder Woman "plagiarized" Captain America, I think that there's a relevant quote from Rick and Morty: "It looks like our stories had a common theme." "No, it was probably a cosmetic similarity that you're misinterpreting as thematic."
I don't get how that can even be a true claim. This movie is WW1 whereas Cap is WW2. Besides that, they both fought in a war and both wore red and blue. That's pretty much where their similarities end.
I'm sorry... NO WINS FOR COSTUME DESIGN?! I'm not even talking about Diana's garb, we've seen that before... This movie made WW1 come alive in a way I've seen no other movie do. Showing everything from London society - upper and lower class - to the gorgeous uniforms of the German elite (Ludendorff looks damn fine in that getup) to ALL the soldiers and officers, in the Ottoman, French, British and German armies to the ordinary small-town Belgian citizens... The costume department DESERVES the Oscar for this one.
Agreed. Very few films about WW1, nice to see them go with it instead of WW2 just because of WW1's limited film exposure. Costumes, sets, trench fight scenes, gassed village scenes, all well done.
What's funny is the whole scene on the boat where she's talking about the "men are only needed for pleasure" was all improv between Chris and Gal. That was one of my favorite scenes. Haha
I still can't believe how appropriate it was that we got someone named "Gal" to play Wonder Woman. That's like getting a man named "Guy" to play He-Man.
Remember kids, never fall in love with a person named Steve and has blonde hair and blue eyes and has an alternate life with the name of Chris because they'll sacrifice themselves in war and save the world.
Okay so my favorite things about this movie I got on second viewing of it. (spoilers) On the boat Diana said that she wanted Steve to take her to the front, he asks why and she says it's because Ares would be in the place where the conflict was most intense. This is amazing because instead Steve takes her to the British war room where everyone is arguing over what to do... and Ares is there. He took her to the place of greatest conflict and discord, the generals arguing over what to do with the troops, the war and the negotiations of a peace he'd never let come. I just think that's a great little detail.
And never did she specify which front. What a luck that Steve strait away understood she meant the only front Americans have ever heard about ! Could have been the Serbian front, the Arabian Front, the Piave front, the Alpes front, the Moselle front, the Meuse front, the Alsacian front, the maritime front, the Armenian front, the Roumanian front... But Steve just knew she meant the Belgian front where no Belgian fight, that's why his job is in "intelligence' ^^
I'd add one more huge and emphatic win to this film for presenting a 'couple' in Steve and Diana who are accepting of one another's strengths and weaknesses, and not only coexist in harmony, but work together toward a common goal -- this despite Diana being significantly -- if not awesomely -- more powerful than Steve. There's no wounded male ego or 'girl power' nonsense to get in the way. The fact that Steve doesn't fall prey to the social mores that insist he should resist/chastise Diana shows him to be a stronger, more confident man, and hence, he is made all the more likable (to me at least). I really like the premise of your channel CinemaWins!
@@homelesshannah50 that's a really nice compliment because now it is it seems like movies are about women kicking ass and men having toxic masculinity. For someone who has PTSD and fibromyalgia I learned that women tend to be weaker physically but it doesn't mean that they don't have their strengths they do. And there are kind men out there that really do remind me of Steve Trevor. Kind of sad how PC culture has really destroyed the film industry but I think this is why I really like Wonder Woman cuz it's not really about that
@@meggrotte4760 Speaking of, this is also really well done in the last season of Agents of Shield when they give one of their superpowered female leads a love interest who is not only physically weaker than she is because of being just a regular human man, but also physically disabled and he still manages to be strong and manly. He lets her do all her impulsively selfless superheroing and is always there to make sure she takes care of herself as well because she's somehow internalised that her own well-being comes last, whilst kicking a good deal of ass himself and being generally wholesome. Talk about doing justice to a strong female lead without implying that love makes her weaker or reducing him to a damsel in distress role. Then again all female (and male) leads on that show are very well written.
Yeah honestly I wish they'd stop infiltrating society with PC culture. They manage to kill comic books television. They managed to pretty much make it seem like having a nuclear family is strange. It's not that you can't have a different type of family. Sure kids can live with grandparents or aunts and uncles. they just make it seem like everyone wants to be a good mom it is considered to be strange.
Very much agree. CinemaWins just makes me feel good about movies, art and people in general. It's too easy to write off a film because of "this ONE DUMB THING" and CinemaWins does a lot of work to put that kind of whining in its place. Films are massive, collaborative endeavors and so many people do their jobs wonderfully during the process.
I just watch both and enjoy all the little things they point out! The positivity of wins is pretty preferable, but there's a lot of little quips in sins that can offer a laugh.
@@strudel1347 Most of the "sins" commented on are extraordinarily adolescent. Eighth-grade level adolescent (this from a school librarian who worked K-12, plus 1-year teaching 6th grade in a 6-8th-grade middle school). Eighth graders are at probably the "jerkiest" year of their lives IMHO. That is what the comments sound like to me.
I just loved the fact that this movie wasn't: "Women are better than men, watch this invincible mary sue win as everyone else sits in the back forever!" but was more of: "No one is perfect, watch this powerful woman with realistic flaws struggle and fight for what she believes in along with the help of her allies who matter as well."
I know this comment is ancient in internet times, but I have to agree. Her, as CinemaWins, puts it, "I am woman, hear me roar." are not her proclaiming that she's a woman. Her being a woman is secondary to her being a badass. Her gender doesn't define her, her actions and thoughts do.
Tazzykiki bloody hell, did superman have the message that men are better than women? Did batman? Did literally ANY superhero with a male main character ever do this??? Considering literally everyone takes a backseat with their super powers and invincibility in those movies, why on earth did you expect this movie to do anything else? Sounds like you need to self examine.
@@tinaloye2014 Because a LOT of 'empowerment' media centered around women use mary sues instead of interesting characters, and I'm just glad they went with 'Super hero who's a woman' instead of 'Woman who happens to be a super hero.' Can you imagine if they focused on Batman's or Superman's sex instead of them being superheroes? It would be trash.
Lead Paintchips literally every superhero is a Mary Sue. There are no exceptions. 😒 tell me, how many female lead superhero movies there are again for this forgone conclusion you've reached?
@@tinaloye2014 Do some research on Mary Sues. Not every superhero is a Mary Sue. Quick google search shows you that in order to be a Mary Sue, you can't have real flaws and they don't lose, and good superheroes do, which Wonder Woman does in this movie. Read what I wrote. I wrote 'empowerment' media instead female lead superhero movies, because that's what I was talking about.
The soldiers hugging kind of makes sense, given the number of stories from World War 1 of soldiers from both sides showing some remarkable levels of human decency, given how dehumanising war can be. It seemed like a decent bit of closure to the argument over whether Ares made people evil or whether people were just evil sometimes. Enemy soldiers aren't necessarily evil. They're not even necessarily enemies. Plus, yes, they just saw literal gods throw down, so there's that, too.
Wasn't there a tale about the soldiers on both sides of WWI in France/Germany having parties with each other during Christmas and fighting again the next day?
@@matthewmazzatto8003 Apparently those soldiers had to be rotated out because they simply refused to go back to fighting each other after that. Makes ya feel all warm and fuzzy, don't it?
@@matthewmazzatto8003 Only during Christmas 1914, never again. Also the war in the west did not relent until 11/11/1918 at 11h00, Paris time, no hugging of ennemies, although there are similar stories : for instance a German soldier who kept aggressively firing his machine gun at American troops until 10h59, when he stopped, got up, saluted the ennemies then just walked away. My real problem is the full disrespect to the war, lack of research on how it was fought and downright insult towards Erich Ludendorf. I get that it's just a superhero flick, but damn get some things right. Ludendorf had said from August onwards that the war was lost and resignated in late september. If you want a German general to be this goofy then just make him up ! Don't insult historical figures, they made up their British officers so why not the German ones too ? Also for a change one single French and no Belgian are present on thier front of the war, why are those German soldiers near Greece and not Ottomans or Bulgarians ? The whole scene in no man's land would have been so much more powerful with an artillery creeping barage blocking Diana's advance, showing some vulnerability in her, etc. My point is : you don't have to alter your narrative or to make a history class, just get some details that do not alter your story right, and respect what happened.
You are correct. Soldiers who's trenches were taken would do stretcher duty for the injured on the other side after immediate surrendering. Not machine gunners but basic foot soldiers. By the end of the war neither side knew why they were fighting, it was mainly the politicians. In fact, one of the causes of the end of WW1 was that the German armies were on the verge of mutinying or actually mutinying.
@@Cancoillotteman German soldiers were present in Ottoman territories as both are allied. German soldiers and commanders were present in Palestine since 1914/1915, for example. What is wrong about Germans near Greece, since it is way closer to Germany than Palestine? And it was troops from a German warship. It's a world war, so you even had Japanese warships attacking Austrian ships off the coast of China. A German boat off the coast of Turkey/Greece? Reasonable, since the Germans also did gave the Turks several warships as well.
Just rewatched Wonder Woman last night. This is one of my favorite superhero movies AND favorite superheroes, and I TEND to be a hard-core Marvel fangirl. But Gal freaking IS Diana.
Which is why I face-palm, visibly, whenever I think back to the initial public outcry upon hearing about Gal Gadot being cast as Wonder Woman. What fools we all were back then. I'm equally glad that Ben Affleck similarly silenced the "Batman Purists" who pitched a fit over his casting. Of all the things you could say was wrong with Batman v Superman... Affleck wasn't one of them.
@@shindari Quite true, I was a hater of him up until I saw "The Accountant". Then I knew he'd be a great Batman, he really did become a better actor, age made him far more likable.
Tbh think I may have cried as she came over the trench. I walked out of this movie feeling like no other superhero movie has made me feel (and I LOVE superhero movies)
I honestly found it a little meh, myself. Though I am VERY glad they avoided the trap of "well, I'm not a man!", which would have been a serious groaner.
Here's a thought on why everyone stopped fighting when Ares died, maybe just the impact of the god of war actually dying was enough to make the desire for war disappear from everyone in close proximity.
Didn't she say he was basically "controlling" war among people?!! So her idea was if I get rid of this guy people will stop wanting to fight because he won't instigate anymore. Like if we get rid of Satan all the evil goes away

She is unique in that she was also a model, and she did all or most of her own stunts- which for most of the world would be definitely weird, but in Israel there's a law that prohibits underweight women from becoming models, so it makes all kinds of sense here.
In a year full of great comic book movies, Wonder Woman was my favorite. My sense of relief when it turned out to be good was palpable. Hollywood has been unkind to female comic book characters, and I was honestly afraid of another Catwoman/Electra event. When the movie came out and it was not only good, but great, I was ecstatic.
I understand that no movie is perfect, but I REALLY appreciate this channel taking the time to point out all the good things about movies I enjoy... it just makes me happy
CinemaSins should take note... but they're probably very sad and lonely people already, which is why they don't have the energy to complain in detail about it.
Blake Keylor Borjan Kosarac Yeah guys this is why I love CinemaWins. CinemaSins just gives negative feedback and points out wrong things for fun. They don't analyze or try to find the real purpose of the movie. Sometimes they even point out things that are not wrong - they just haven't understood the movie. On the other hand, CinemaWins makes great analyzing job which is far more fun to watch!
On the "amazons are 8 feet tall" question, if you were the only survivor of an army of men who got their asses handed to them by tiny-to-medium-sized women, what would you say when you return? "They were gigantic! 8 feet tall! No one could stop them!!!"
A very ture point, actually, as well. Julius Caesar was known for "amping" up his opponents, both when he won (the whole I fought this really tough guy but, eventually my awesomeness won out) and especially when he didn't, to make it seem as if it where "impossible" for him to have defeated them. If you look into his entries about his wars with the gauls, its really apparent
I'm surprised you didn't add a win for Chris' superb acting in his character's final moments. He captures what someone would actually feel when in such a situation, trying to feel the triumph and not to think about what you have to do in a few seconds, then slowly forcing yourself to face the fact that your mission is still only half done, fighting with yourself to point the gun and then a few agonizing moments trying to convince yourself to pull the trigger. It just... felt like I was in his place, experiencing those feelings myself. So yeah. I totally agree with the "from now on, Chris Pine is always a win". He so deserves that.
Every time I see the No Man’s Land scene, I get endless chills and tears are almost brought to my eyes. This has *never* happened to me with *any* other movie, and I think it proves - to me, at least - why this is one of my favorites of all time.
Thank you, CinemaWins for acknowledging that there was little to no “I am Woman, Heard Me Roar Mainstream Feminism” in the film. The film accurately describes the best and the worst of both sexes. The Diana/Steve dynamic were featured as partners, equal partners, that uses their strengths to shield them from their weaknesses. That’s one thing I love about this movie. The chemistry was organic and felt nateral. I hope and pray the #DCEU continues with their future movies.
Whether you like it or not, you're probably normal. On the topic of averageness and 'on average, you're average,' Baader-Meinhof and statistical averageness are two sides of the same coin. If you started doing something and now you're seeing it everywhere, it could be new pattern recognition in your brain, or it could be that you started doing something once it became popular.

There was this moment, when Etta calls Steve and tells him that there is a ball. Ares grabs the phone and forbids them to go, while telling them the date and hour of the ball. So Ares is manipulating them to go.
Not just then. He officially tells Steve and Diana the mission is a no-go because it will put the armistice at risk, but then shows up at the bar to unofficially green-light and fund it.
Man I'm glad this channel exists. After seeing all the bad things with this movie from CinemaSins, I go to this channel for all the good things. Balances out perfectly well!
I'll second the statement about appreciating the existence of this channel - just came off of a few videos criticizing the snot out a few movies (no idea how well deserved it was) and was starting to feel a little low, then I watch this video and I'm feeling all cheerful. Thanks, CinemaWins, for existing.
I think the soldiers hugging and not fighting each other at the end after Ares died was less "Oh the god of war is dead and now my mind is clear from violent thoughts etc etc" and more "Holy shit literally an entire airfield and base was blown up by two gods, who cares if we're on opposing sides, we're all just happy to be alive." At least that's how I interpreted it. I don't think the movie was going for "Ares is dead so the war ends", based on what Chris said, and basically everything you talked about. Hope you see this and it maybe clears things up! Great video!
I agree with you, but I think they could have shown it better. Not a huge rewrite or anything, just something like, while the gods are fighting, get some quick cuts to the germans and the english group fighting, then realising what is going on and not killing each other while they try to run and hide. Just show some sort of compassion before aries dies. Maybe doing that way would better show the whole "people can be both, areis just gives them ideas thing" rather than the "aries mind magic" it came across as. Because the way they did it, it was sort of shot like the germans were turboevil nazis, because world war germans, and then aries dies and they're just scared kids. It was a bit too quick for me. And yeah I know germans in WW1 aren't nazis, I'm just talking about how in many cases like BF1 and this movie, if it's World war, hollywood looks at it as all germans = very bad. Which is annoying.
Yeah, Ludendorff's whole thing was that the war was ending (too) soon and he wasn't ready to let it. Meanwhile, Ares was busy framing the peace that made WWII inevitable - better to let the Great War burn itself out than prolong it until people started thinking about how to actually achieve a lasting peace...
mafiacat88 i disagree about the Germans thing. the entire movie the Germans and the British were talking about a treaty while aries influenced only 2 people to continue the war.
Seiichi Himura And there lies the fucking problem entertainment, entertainment does not come before depth or anything regarding quality which these days it does. No one even knows the actual quality of this movies story or actual character arcs and themes. Nearly everything about this movie especially people's perception of it is fake. Diana was the hopeful optimistic hero the DCEU needed do you know how they managed that, by just ignoring all the moral ambiguity of the plot and the consequences of everything Diana did. Diana's whole thing is that man is good and Ares is twisting them into evil if this is true why is she okay with slaughtering people left and right. Wouldn't someone as gentle and loving as Diana be horrified at the idea that she's killing these in her mind unwilling slaves. Wouldn't any of this get to such an all loving hero. Diana's goal is murder her goal is to kill another individual, it's not a last resort or an act of desperation like Superman killing Zod, it's her goal. Diana sought out violence and she's horrified at us. None of this is acknowledged Diana is presented as some perfect force of good that humanity doesn't deserve none of her hypocrisy is acknowledged. The movie made her optimistic and hopeful by putting a blindfold over the audiences face, hiding the horrors she herself commits which is something Snyder didn't do with Superman and he was raked across the coals for it. People are willing to sacrifice actual depth for likability and fun, and that's not acceptable.
As a history lover, I really appreciate the German aircraft being Fokker Eindeckers (single wing [monoplanes]). In almost every movie involving The Great War, no matter the year of the war, or even if the movie is made about flying *cough, flyboys* , the planes are always triplanes specifically the Fokker Dr 1. And yes, I realize it's harder for the audience to identify who's who if both sides are by planes. But still! There were less than 700 Dr 1s ever made, and the Red Baron, the man who made the triplane famous, rarely flew it.
8:02 when I watched this scene in the theater I rolled my eyes and started to say. "Maybe no man...but a woman" but no they did not do that...thank god I had control of "the little kid inside me" BECAUSE FINALLY THAT STUPID LINE WAS DODGED!!
I hate the “not a man but a woman” line. It’s stupid. I can’t think of a single woman who would say that in real life. It’s not even an inspiring line.
@@emmawestervelt5163 I think that line works in the Lord of the Rings (where it's more of a play on semantics with the word "man" meant as any human being), but not anywhere else.

I thought it was really good that they included the Gurkhas in the background on the train platform. Too many war films forgot that non white people fought too.
And the inclusion of Native Americans in this movie were awesome too. They played a significant part in both world wars but we tend to forget about that...
I don't think it's about forgetting they fought too, it's just that on the european theatre (which is were most World War movies sadly take place due to most of them being made by americans, british or russians) about 99,7% of the fighters were white men. Including in the most "famous" battles, which again, they sadly tend to just make every movie about. Seeing that Hollywood has a problem of showing other nationalities in the battles they arguably had a bigger part in, what's the likelyhood they'll highlight POC in combat. The game Battlefield 1 which takes place in WW1 has a campaign chapters were you play as members of a black platoon and a female sabotour though. Also about 1/3 soldiers in the multiplayer are black too and on certain maps you play as an arab in the Ottoman Empire. Personally, I think the first priority should by about showing the other side (as especially in WW1, the "enemies" weren't evil, like they are shown in most movies. Even in WW2, it would be cool to show that the average soldier in the wehrmacht wasn't that different from the average american). Like as much as I talked about the diversity in BF1 earlier, it still didn't allow you to play as soldier of the Axis at any point in the campaign. Then I'd hope we could focus on different nationalities. Although, I know it isn't really fair to demand american filmmakers to make films about people who are not american. Sorry, this turned out to be such a ramble.
You're good. And thank you for giving a rational response! I suppose "forgetting" isn't the right word. Gloss over? Just don't include. How about that? Lol. I don't think it's inherently because of some evil agenda or anything like that. It just makes me sad sometimes to think about how so many different groups contributed to these things and we never hear about it. I've always found it really interesting to hear stories about things like that, and wouldn't mind seeing it more personally.
The term POC isn't racist. And Timppa3 already addressed it, but I wasn't arguing that there were. Just the fact that there WERE SOME and we often don't hear about them. I personally like it when we do in these movies because it means the film's makers did that little extra bit of research. Plus I always like learning about those extra bits of history. :)
One thing I trully loved about the Steve-Diana relationship is that, unlike a lot of other movies, neither of them trades objectives after falling in love. She still wants to destroy Ares and he still wants to destroy the gas. They stay themselves. And that's good writing.

There are a couple of things about wonder woman as a comic book character that also shone through in this film which you didn't mention, the way they paid homage to the original golden age origin of wonder woman at the beginning (formed from clay) but made it out to be a cover that she is Zeus' daughter which is a more modern origin of her. Also the point that you absolutely nailed during 15:13-15:33, in the comics the amazons and the gods all thought of humans as lesser beings because of them constantly fighting each other, but wonder woman saw that humans were capable of love that the gods and amazons didn't understand which is why she stands by humans and fights for them, its one of the reasons that she left Themyscira and never came back because of her love of humanity and their capacity of love. Also bondage, cause comics are weird
Yes!! I said the same thing about the end! It's just kind of messy. What Steve said about humanity was great. It felt mature and I was hoping that would be the ending but they immediately cut that down.
Emi-tea ok, but what Steve said still applied? The war was still the humans fault, Ares just gave them some encouragement and helped make sure it played out in the best way for his interest. Hell, he wanted the war to happen BECAUSE of mankind's impurity, so they would destroy themselves and return the world to before they lived in it.
I like to imagine that the soldiers held each other in fear as the gods fought. Once it was over, they were like "omg we survived that shit!" I'd hug the nearest human too.
This is how you do girl power! Not once did they try to make it about a female actor. They made it about her deeds and what she's done and that's what makes a strong woman. And God I love strong women.

@@elongatedmanforever1252 No you barely get any good female heroes because until now the men controlling the studios (and that included Marvel until DC showed them how it was done with this movie) felt that the movies wouldn't make money, and then on the odd occasion when they did decide to risk it, put in the hands of writers who had no, love of comics, and no bloody concept of what to do with the female characters they were given and came up with the most useless storylines (Supergirl, Catwoman, Elektra). And if you doubt it is the studios, even when Patty was handed this assignment she was still given way less money to make it then any Marvel or DC movie.

Wonderwoman's success is that they give us a character who is fully fleshed out, optimistic and easily worth rooting for. Put that character in a morally ambiguous situation, have them question their point of view and come out better for it. Win-win. Other movies try to be gritty and pessimistic and not allow their characters to show kindness among the tough persona they put on. Diana has her tender moments and her strong moments, but they don't conflict with each other. Real people aren't one note.
Yes you did this!! I'll watch in the morning, thank you so much! And Kubo and the two strings is a fantastic movie you should review!, hope you and your family are doing well!
The movie felt like it was building up to a great climax, where she can't just kill War itself. She'd have to deal with the complexity of humanity and come up with solutions that aren't just a divine task of killing the big bad. The ending could have been really fantastic, but then the rug got pulled out and we got a big Ares fight instead.
Very true. Strong Female Character who just turns out be a snark machine who can fight well is the the most disappointing trope to me. I want to sit filmmakers down and tell them, very kindly, "Hey, guys? Us wanting strong women characters, does not _literally_ mean we only want two dimensional physically strong women characters . . . Some nuance please?"
I still get chills when I watch this movie! The moment when Chris wraps the lasso around his wrist, you can see that Gal is trying so hard not laugh out. I think it's a win that she succeeded. I wonder how many takes that scene was.
I don't know if you'll see this but for the week of Halloween, can you PLEASE do an Everything great about the original Halloween. Its a perfect choice for the week and is a masterpiece of a film P.S. I love your channel. Its nice to see someone seeing the good things in bad movies. People like you are great.
oh look, a DC movie that realizes other colors besides gray exist! And daylight! Feels like christmas. Also, anotehr good point in Diana not giving us the "but I'm not a man" cliché points out she understand making a quote that takes a figurative term as if it was literaly would be incredibly dumb and corny. I mean, Amazons are trained for war, it goes withotu saying they understand perfectly the terms of warfare such as "no man's land". And oh, one more thing, I would give a win for the way Gak Gadot, through pure expression and body language quickly gave us the idea she was comparing her height to the other lady to see if the dress will fit nicely xD That little moment of "measuring up" gave me a chuckle.
Lord Farquaad Okay? I’m only 16, and I LOVED this when I saw it in theaters. This is my second favorite DCEU film (second only to Man of Steel (2013) and Shazam! (2019), which share first place on my list).
Re: the "Martha" paradox in this film. I've considered Ares to be something akin to the demon in "The Exorcist" .... he lies, but mixes the lies with truth. In short, this isn't an either-or paradox - Steve or Ares - they are both right. Man is inherently flawed and capable of evil .... but also capable of greatness. Beings like Ares push man toward the evil, and beings like Diana are capable of pushing them toward the light. In short, the only person who was absolutely wrong was ... gulp ... Diana. She believed the stories her mother told her, and was shocked to the point of inaction when her belief system was shattered .... and I really tip my hat to the writer and director for not swerving away form that. I can't think of any time I ever saw a superhero freeze like that ... but it was a very human reaction because Diana isn't a god, she is a demigod ... part god and part human. I found it a bold and refreshing take on the superhero. To me, this is what truly elevated this into the upper echelon of superhero films.
I loved the "You are still no match for me!" *Stab* bit when Diana catches the sword bcause it's a callback to the "No Friends, no weapons, no hope, and what do you have left?" *Angel tries to stab Buffy but she catches the blade* "Me."
no clue why i didn't find out your channel existed till now, but i'm so glad i finally do! youtube has far too many channels focused on "things this movie / TV show / channel does wrong." while there's a place for pointing out errors and inconsistencies (anachronistic coffee cups, major plot holes, laws of physics somehow not applying etc etc), and it can be an opportunity to teach and learn about real life vs. fiction, too often it just feels like ppl are looking to tear down something in order to feel good, and the excessive negativity is exhausting. and then it frequently seems like the creators didn't actually do their homework - pointing out "errors" that in fact are not errors at all. anyway, i'm glad there's a channel that celebrates and enjoys the stories and movies that are out there instead!
Combo comment: First, loved the "death by snu snu" joke, it's not often you can reference that Futurama joke with perfect context Second, I love the "Steve in the truth rope" scene, simply because of the fact that he has to feel the rope compelling three or four times before confessing. He's a spy, it's second nature for him to immediately lie about what he really is.
I always watch your videos! I only watch Cinema Sins for movies I didn't care for, the negativity can cut deep, especially if I liked the movie! I love your analysis at the end. Its deep and well thought through. Keep up the good work!!! I would love to hear your take on Cloud Atlas 😀
I loved and adored this movie soooo much and it was what the DCEU needed. The absolute BEST DC movie since Nolan's Dark Knight movies. There was just too much grittiness in DC movies after those successes and I'm so hecking happy that 'Love' and wholesome goodness is finally the center of a superhero movie again. Call it cheesy, but it's sorely needed. Especially in this day and age with so much wrong in the news.
Yes absolutely PTSD sucks I've had it since I was 12 and I'm almost 40

SheldonAdama17 oh the puns. God damn it.
OMG dead.
There are rumours that it'll be in the sequel.
Actually, I would have winned the 8 year old actress, too. She was excellent, especially for an 8 year old!
With regard to the claims that Wonder Woman "plagiarized" Captain America, I think that there's a relevant quote from Rick and Morty:
"It looks like our stories had a common theme."
"No, it was probably a cosmetic similarity that you're misinterpreting as thematic."
Agree with that, especially because when you look at that moment in context, it works quite well.
Also? A lot of the T.V. show also took place during WWII?
This hit me. Good job.
@@lornawilson738 but isn’t this ww1
You know, London kind of looks a city pulled from dark fantasy like in Bloodborne
Didn't even mention the Amazonian soldiers' armour as well, that was all pretty sweet
Agreed. Very few films about WW1, nice to see them go with it instead of WW2 just because of WW1's limited film exposure. Costumes, sets, trench fight scenes, gassed village scenes, all well done.
All the details about her armour is historically accurate, and I like how its actually armour not a flimsy bathing suit.
@@micahcovington6814 I think because 2017 is 100 years of US entering to WW1?
What's funny is the whole scene on the boat where she's talking about the "men are only needed for pleasure" was all improv between Chris and Gal. That was one of my favorite scenes. Haha
I still can't believe how appropriate it was that we got someone named "Gal" to play Wonder Woman. That's like getting a man named "Guy" to play He-Man.
Hahahaha that was improvised??? That somehow makes it so much better.
It’s in the script...

@Gravestone999 between them! 🤧
Okay so my favorite things about this movie I got on second viewing of it.
But Steve just knew she meant the Belgian front where no Belgian fight, that's why his job is in "intelligence' ^^
scruffles holy smokes. Thanks!
Excellent observation !
We cant igonre the fact that Chris Pine absolutely owned his role as Steve Trevor!
Yeah, he's a great actor. Love him in the new Star Trek films.

Everytime I hear his voice, all I remember is Jack Frost. 😂
I'm an old head and it was like that in the TV show he never felt less "manly" because a woman was saving him and it was never an issue
That is a really, really good point. Well said
@@homelesshannah50 that's a really nice compliment because now it is it seems like movies are about women kicking ass and men having toxic masculinity.
Sure kids can live with grandparents or aunts and uncles.
they just make it seem like everyone wants to be a good mom it is considered to be strange.
i never knew how to explain why Cinema Sins bothered me until I found this channel and my life expectancy increased by 20%
Probably because most of the “sins” in their videos are either straight up false/inaccurate, or embarrassing jabs at making jokes
Because the creators are hacks and they don't know how to make a joke.
@@tinaloye2014
Do some research on Mary Sues.

Here's a thought on why everyone stopped fighting when Ares died, maybe just the impact of the god of war actually dying was enough to make the desire for war disappear from everyone in close proximity.
My theory is it's because everything is on fire and two GODS just had a smack down.
That's a good idea, kinda helps rationalise the ending a bit more to me after I thought the ending was kinda weak
Didn't she say he was basically "controlling" war among people?!! So her idea was if I get rid of this guy people will stop wanting to fight because he won't instigate anymore. Like if we get rid of Satan all the evil goes away

When you look at it the everyone stop fighting can be linked to the fact that the movie take place in november 1918

Ali Yaghi you realize CinemaSins does that on purpose and it's for the sake of comedy not actually explaining why things are sins in a movie

A very ture point, actually, as well. Julius Caesar was known for "amping" up his opponents, both when he won (the whole I fought this really tough guy but, eventually my awesomeness won out) and especially when he didn't, to make it seem as if it where "impossible" for him to have defeated them. If you look into his entries about his wars with the gauls, its really apparent
please ignore any spelling mistake (whoops)
That’s fantastic. I love it.

There was this moment, when Etta calls Steve and tells him that there is a ball. Ares grabs the phone and forbids them to go, while telling them the date and hour of the ball. So Ares is manipulating them to go.
I didn't even think about this. Holy shit.
He didn't make them do anything. He simply held the idea out there and let them make their own choice. That is a really cool attention to detail.
Not just then. He officially tells Steve and Diana the mission is a no-go because it will put the armistice at risk, but then shows up at the bar to unofficially green-light and fund it.

Thanks, CinemaWins, for existing.
Cinemasins just trolling and controlling your mind. The only bad in this movie is the 3rd act.
Tropical Babe It’s not bad, it’s just worse than first 2 acts.
Yeah I thought it was a happy to be alive thing too.
It might tie in a little with the Christmas Truce, or a case of conscripted soldiers finally happy it was over.

Also,Gal had to do reshoots WHILE 5 months pregnant. Totally a badass good Gal.
Maggie McGonnell yup
If we're all thinking anyway, does it really need to be said?
I don't think I've ever caught myself thinking "She's so hot" this many times in a movie before

And there was much rejoicing.
Can't touch the Piney!
"FROM HENCEFORTH CHRIS PINE IS ALWAYS A WIN. ding"
So, you haven't seen his work in Star Trek and Into Darkness?
I'd add one more huge and emphatic win to this film for presenting a 'couple' in Steve and Diana who are accepting of one another's strengths and weaknesses, and not only coexist in harmony, but work together toward a common goal -- this despite Diana being significantly -- if not awesomely -- more powerful than Steve. There's no wounded male ego or 'girl power' nonsense to get in the way. The fact that Steve doesn't fall prey to the social mores that insist he should resist/chastise Diana shows him to be a stronger, more confident man, and hence, he is made all the more likable (to me at least).

It was in the early 20th century. There weren't that many POC (not being racist) fighting in the war.
This. My thoughts exactly.

ILikeBleachItsTrue Lupin? Who the fuck is Lupin? That man is MOTHERF*CKING VM VARGA!!!!
ILikeBleachItsTrue are you a troll...? Flashback? Its an origin story? Lupin wasn't main villain. The slow motion is personal choice and liking so you can't say it's bad. The dick joke was fine since it makes a funny point of not seeing a man before and Trevor is that type of guy. If you read comics, her bracelets are indestructible and limits her powers. They keep her from channeling god mode in" a fight" and she let some use of it in the final act. Magic. Lol
I think one of the better things about WW is that its theme is much more energetic and memorable than BvS's theme.
Chris Benson I thought that Zimmers batman theme from bvs was loud af.
DC managed to make a memorable score for 3 films. It took a while for Marvel to do that.
I don't even remember what BvS's theme sounds like, so you must be right.
Hey look, it's another Chris!
BvS didn't have a theme. It was a team-up movie, so it had the character's theme's.
you left out "a guy named steve sacrificing himself while being played by a guy named chris"
Things I liked:
Gal Gadot and Chris pine
Patty Jenkins direction
The musical score
That no mans land scene( you know the one)
COLOUR!!!!!
Things I didn't like:
Some pretty obvious green screens
A bit too much exposition
The finale kind of fell back on the whirlwind of dull grey cgi look
The villains
Movie Man yea
Movie Man did you read everything great?
I agree except for Gal Gadot. I think she is an absolutely shitty actress and she is better than she is in BvS, but she is still really cringeworthy
Thats DCEU in a nutshell...
Movie Man I agree with everything except the villain. I really like the villain in Wonder Woman.
kind of disappointed this didn't make a billion
I never noticed, but the movie's opening logo is very, very reminiscent of the old JLU show, which is definitely a win.
Hell, he wanted the war to happen BECAUSE of mankind's impurity, so they would destroy themselves and return the world to before they lived in it.
every time, EVERY. FREAKING. TIME. that wonder woman theme kicks in, shivers up and down my spine. amazing.
I just discovered your channel and I just want to say thank you for bringing some much needed positivity to this world
I loved this movie. Wonder Woman is my 2nd fav DC hero and I am so glad this movie was made! Cinematic gold!!

DiamondSpiderProductions probably the best one yet but DCs gonna need to work hard to put themselves at or above Marvel's pay grade

Badass Gal Gadot ^^

Avar Ismail It's refreshing in this dark world.
This is how you do girl power! Not once did they try to make it about a female actor. They made it about her deeds and what she's done and that's what makes a strong woman. And God I love strong women.
Its sad that Hollywood is full of s#it and incapable of making good movies like this because they are always catering to sjw's & feminists that's why we barely get any good female Heroes.
I completely disagee, with that Female lead movies were done years in the past in many franchises and Have Succeeded & failed, I think they were worried about this Woke Culture Making movies for Feminists and yes they don't make any money. Not when you insult you're Audience like Captain marvel did calling The male audience all Misogynists, and why is there such a high demand and obsession with Female leads nowadays Instead of just making a good damn movie.
@@elongatedmanforever1252 Them NOT catering to feminists is why these movies are god awful.
@@toniodejimi3905
Tell that to movies like Birds of prey,
Ghostbusters 2016, Charlie's Angel's 2016, The sequel trilogy, Supergirl CW, Jessica jones & Black Christmas.
These movies & shows do terrible because radical toxic Feminists shoehorn their propaganda into it, & cant just let it be a good story with interesting character but a whole damn gender studies narrative about all women & sexism & it's the same shit over & over & over its cringe & its tiresome its actually why a lot of female characters have shit & boring stories as a writer myself I can make shit a thousand times better, because my goal is to create& entertain not lecture or berate males like what these activist wackjobs constantly love to do.
I definitely did enjoy how she was a believable woman who had powers. It was beyond refreshing to see that with so many "tough women" hero characters
Stanley Terrell Anderson II Yeah, it's cool that "badass" wasn't her only character trait.
Very true. Strong Female Character who just turns out be a snark machine who can fight well is the the most disappointing trope to me. I want to sit filmmakers down and tell them, very kindly, "Hey, guys? Us wanting strong women characters, does not _literally_ mean we only want two dimensional physically strong women characters . . . Some nuance please?"

oh look, a DC movie that realizes other colors besides gray exist! And oh, one more thing, I would give a win for the way Gak Gadot, through pure expression and body language quickly gave us the idea she was comparing her height to the other lady to see if the dress will fit nicely xD That little moment of "measuring up" gave me a chuckle.
there was always colors in dc films. Marvel are the ones who need to have their films look less ugly and more comic bookey

I think I just figured out why I enjoy your videos so much. Your enjoyment of the movies is infectious and makes me enjoy them and love them more
I loved the "You are still no match for me!" *Stab* bit when Diana catches the sword bcause it's a callback to the "No Friends, no weapons, no hope, and what do you have left?" *Angel tries to stab Buffy but she catches the blade* "Me."

no clue why i didn't find out your channel existed till now, but i'm so glad i finally do! youtube has far too many channels focused on "things this movie / TV show / channel does wrong." while there's a place for pointing out errors and inconsistencies (anachronistic coffee cups, major plot holes, laws of physics somehow not applying etc etc), and it can be an opportunity to teach and learn about real life vs. fiction, too often it just feels like ppl are looking to tear down something in order to feel good, and the excessive negativity is exhausting. and then it frequently seems like the creators didn't actually do their homework - pointing out "errors" that in fact are not errors at all. anyway, i'm glad there's a channel that celebrates and enjoys the stories and movies that are out there instead!
Wow. In all my viewings, I had no idea Antiope was also telling the story at the beginning.

First, loved the "death by snu snu" joke, it's not often you can reference that Futurama joke with perfect context
Second, I love the "Steve in the truth rope" scene, simply because of the fact that he has to feel the rope compelling three or four times before confessing.
