In regards to the line about Zeus's accent: me and my gf are both Greek and when we heard this accent in the theaters we half expected him to start cussing Thor out in Greek. By far the best Greek accent from a non-Greek actor.
That's funny. I think that most people that don't know what a Greek accent actually sounds like think the accent sounds terrible. My wife and I both thought he was completely flubbing an Italian accent.
If you want more context what he is doing is a perfect rendition of a Greek Australian accent (possibly greek nz?) where Russell spent a lot of his early life.
I don't know if someone has already pointed this out but, the "adopt the kid of your enemy" parallel between Gorr's daughter and Loki? With Thor being a caring father to Love, like the one both him and Loki wished for? A father that would support them and see them as it's own instead of a random child they have to keep?
Odin adopted Loki, and Loki was the son of Odin's Enemy. I think that is what you were going for, not Thor being the 'father of Loki....." Thor is Loki's brother. I think you are confused; pl0x correct me if I am wrong
Just wish the Necro Sword was more emphasized, it seems like the whole movie was like "oh no its a terrible, terrible weapon" and then they kinda forgot about it
@@exceedcharge1 Me too, since the 'first' one was that weak Venom cameo, this one is a direct hit to Knull, so not making atleast a little bit more important wouldnt hurt anyone, right? And I get that they stopped doing these full 'adverts' to future movies since that kinda boring ones on Age Of Ultron. Anyway, Love and Thunder was a really fun movie, so that keeps it going for me
One thing I definitely loved about Bale's performance is how quickly it was apparent that the Necrosword altered his mind. When he grasped the sword, his demeanor instantly changed from "shell-shocked, grieving father" to "calm, bloodthirsty killer." And when the sword was destroyed he switched back almost instantly as well. I just really wish we had seen more of him actually killing gods.
I like how right after Jane dies, Thor just has a moment of heartbreaking silence, without actually breaking down, almost as if he's somewhat numb to the pain at this point, I felt really bad for him.
I've lost more then one relative to cancer, including one to stage 4. The idea that battling cancer is worthy of Valhalla is a whole bunch of emotions.
@@LemonWithASideOfLemons Cancer itself is a battle, and i think OP knows that more than anyone. Honestly just surprising you would even comment something like this, beyond insensitive.
Some things I learned about this movie: -Most of the Asgardian children belong to the cast and crew, Taika's kids, Bale's kids, Hemsworth's kids, Portman's kids, which I think is fun and adorable -Russell Crowe convinced Taika to let him use the Greek accent after doing the same take twice one with and one without -Korg's partner is Dwayne, The Rock alien, Dwayne, it's a very funny joke and I didn't see it mentioned by many people -Natalie Portman said she loved getting buff for this role and it was one of the more fun roles she's had in awhile
having the kids of the people working on this movie be in this movie is actually pretty clever, as they won't have to hire child actors, their parents will already be around anyway and, further more, it's also a way to reward said cast and children by Taika. win-win-win, I'd say.
@@snaketooth0943 I mean... they're made of rocks. For all we know, all his people look the same. So I dunno that people have any cause to get angry no matter what their ideology is, really. It's like being angry that a roly poly mates with an almost identical roly poly...
So much of how good Jane is in the movie is actually due to Natalie Portman fighting to keep the character consistent with the first two movies. During the writing process, Taika offered to revamp the character the way Thor was revamped for Ragnarok, but Natalie stuck to her (very impressive) guns because she knew that Jane was fine just the way she was, and really only needed the chance to show it. Badass Good Girl, Natalie Portman is always a win.
@@ishaanhall78 Taika's great and all, but a good end product survives every bit of resistance it faces; having yes men around him, like George Lucas for the Star Wars prequels, made it weaker than it could've been.
Taika bashed this movie so hard. He didn't want to even do it. Do people just say things on the internet? Random things because they can..while people just believe them rather then.. Oops right lmao 🤣 forgot 😅 the internet 😃 where everything is true.
The depiction of someone battling cancer is eerily spot on for what I was expecting to be an over-comedic, action flick. Jane often looked so much like my own mother did during her battle. And with that there were definitely days when my mom was doing so well she almost seemed above her normal health, almost heroic, but after each of those days the next would be even worse. I was not prepared to find so many strong emotions tied into this movie. I applaud it and am patiently waiting to have the courage to watch it again.
@@Caffeinated_Firefly I don't like it (I didn't even watch it... Looking at this video, I definitely won't) BECAUSE of that cancer's story. I tolerated Guardians of the Galaxy because 1) my mom was still here and 2) at least, it was short and NEVER treated as a joke. Can't say the same about this movie. That's literally the only MCU movie that I didn't watch. I don't go watch superhero movies to remember that my life sucks.
Interesting detail I realized about Mjolnir's display watching this movie again: they dug out the whole area of ground around it to build the amphitheater since nobody could lift it. The rocks and background behind everything are at the same height of Mjolnir.
Yes. No one ever seems to comment on this. It's such a cool little detail that not one person in New Asgard could move even a single broken piece of it. Noticed it in the cinema but without a pause button it was really hard to confirm that I'd seen what I thought I had.
Your explanation of how Thor-ing up was killing Jane (removing the chemo "poison" without actually doing anything about the cancer) is basically straight-up how it was in the comics, so it fits. Meanwhile, I agree that Bale did a fantastic job as Gorr, but I'm kind of glad that he _is_ a one-and-done villain, because IMO in the comics he _vastly_ overstayed his welcome to the point that he stopped being "ooh scary threatening villain whose philosophy challenges the validity of Thor and his fellow deities" and became "oh ffs just stfu and go away already."
Apparently Christian Bale improvised his own version of Gorr. I gotta say, it works on him. The only thing that threw me off of about him was the polarising contrast between him and the rest of the film
The golden blood isn’t just about getting around censors; in Greek myth, the gods’ immortality came from them not having blood but Ichor, which is often interpreted as being gold in color. (There was also a thing about Ambrosia, but that’s not relevant here.) This also helps explain who Zeus survives. I appreciated the nod to historical myth when I saw it.
Yes. Ambrosia is the food of the gods, Nectar is the drink of the gods, and Ichor is the blood of the gods. You can presume that the food they were eating and the drinks they were drinking is the Ambrosia and Nectar, but it was definitely them showing the gods have Ichor flowing through them, which yes, I love that they kept that nod to the mythology.
@@juliandacosta6841 the first Thor movie was blended perfectly. Thor has lost his Shakespeare gimmick and turned into a comedy relief character when Ragnarok was made, that’s when the character took a nose dive.
2:26 That whole sequence is still Korg telling people "how it happened." Standing up tall and dramatically saying "This ends now" while the enemy can't seem to hit such a clear target, dramatically tossing away his robe and summoning Stormbreaker, stopping two ships with a split kick, and saying "What a classic Thor adventure." It's all done like a stage play or a cartoon because Korg is embellishing it for dramatic/comedic flair.
@@tevenpowell8023 I think it’s more a true story with some emphasis on the more fun things from Korg like the goats constant screaming and Thor’s attitude toward the opening battle rather than the seriousness of the Necro Sword or the children of Asgard being kidnapped. Like all that stuff happened but Korg is downplaying how serious it was so the kids don’t get scared. That’s just my view though
@@tevenpowell8023 It's literally a bedtime story he's telling to a bunch of children. So think of it like The Princess Bride, or 300. Lots of embellishments, dramatic flair for effect, skipping over the boring bits to keep the audience engaged, etc.

Something I noticed during the Thor Babies power up sequence, as the lightning courses through all of them when they're lined up, it looks like Yggdrasil or at the very least *a* tree. Not sure if it was intentional but I pointed it out to my husband and it made the whole battle sequence that much cooler to me.
@@nothankyewpls are you that easily impressed? Yggdrasil was introduced since Thor 1. What did this movie do that was so impressive? Imagine if the movie was actually good and accurate to the comics. Now that would make mythology nerds squeal, o whatever you like to do. Imagine seeing Thor battle Gorr during the Viking Age and hanging out with the Rus Vikings.
I know the tone of this movie is a bit all over the place and sometimes things are ridiculous. I figured, all of this film was a tale told by Korg, based on what really happened and explains the silliness at times. Also how great is it that Thor concludes his arc by mirroring Odins journey. He lost his partner and now adopts the child of his enemy. All in all, I really enjoyed it, though recognize the issues.
I honestly loved this movie. I have no problem admitting the ending (basically when you realize Jane / Mighty Thor chooses to sacrifice herself to the "Love and Thunder" moment), had me in tears. I think what you mention of Portman not adapting to Taika Watiti's style of humor is more that Jane is still only just becoming a super hero. I thought a lot of her moments were hilarious. Also, I want more Darcy (Kat Dennings) in the MCU. I too would watch a 4 hour cut of Love and Thunder.
Same. People need to freaking have more fun. This is not Avengers level cheese, it's comedy with soul. But also fucking badass action all the way through.
It was so great to have Natalie Portman as Jane Foster back in the franchise; didn't realize *just* how much I'd missed her in Ragnarök until her sudden first appearance in Love & Thunder. I appreciate Taika taking the time in L&T to establish a backstory as to why they'd supposedly "broken up" back then, and every scene where Thor & Jane fight side by side as a bad-ass power couple was such a treat! Plus, Chris & Natalie's chemistry remained strong as ever; I could feel *their* reunion just as much as I felt Thor & Jane's. 🥰⚒ (Also, on a personal note, I would've included a win for seeing Valkyrie wear a Phantom of the Opera shirt in the film. Even Asgardian warrior women can develop great taste in musicals 😊😉). Speaking of Natalie, we need an Everything Great about V for Vendetta someday, maybe for this year's November the 5th? 🌹⚔🤔😏
Speaking further of Natalie, it would also be nice to see "Everything Great About: The Professional." I think it was one of, if not her first, major role in a film.
I wish Natalie could be Thor for a couple more films and take over when Hemsworth is done. you could have two God of thunder‘s since Thor is also beginning a path to be like Odin.
They have said the reason Gorr is not in it more is they had scenes that he filmed that were shot perfect but were so creepy it threw fans off. This is the first MCU movie I have ever wanted a longer edit for.
Imagine making a movie with Gorr and then cutting out all the scenes where he acts like Gorr because the common MCU goer probably hasn’t seen anything darker than the episode of Seaseme street with the wicked witch
as I've grown out of the silliness of cinemasins, I've started loving this channel so much. really makes me able to appreciate movies, even when I wasn't too fond of them when I watched them
That's what I LOVE about this channel. I saw the movie, with no spoilers ahead. And I didn't really liked it. I went out thinking to myself "ok, Taika screwed up, shit happens, he's not always super funny, I bet he went too far, too bad, whatever, I won't be rewatching that one and that's it". Then I heard the critics, and people being mad, giving the same arguments than me but... how to put it... harsher? And it did make me sad. Because I thought to myself: "ok, I didn't like it either... but it wasn't THAT bad". Thanks to you it reminds me which scenes I liked, because they were fucking cool, fucking well done, fucking well filmed, fucking well acted, fucking well many things about this movie. Sure, it HAS its downs, but without these, everybody would have fucking loved it! More importantly: life sucks enough for us not to hate on fantasy. And that's what this channel is all about, to me. Even if sometimes it's not the time to see the bright side: sometimes, it absolutely is. Movies are in this case, and you'll always remember us it's better to enjoy them than be mad at them. Lovers are winners. Go CinemaWins.
Always been a fan of the Thor movies, and don't get why this one received so little love. Sure, it isn't perfect and pretty much all over the place, but the stuff that works really works. Thor and Jane's relationship was the best part (usually when you separate a couple only to have them back together it falls flat) and the message about "better to love and loose than to never to have loved at all" (or as HTTYD3 said "with love comes loss, that's part of the deal") is truly the heart of it all. Also, Gorr´s story was great as well, proves Marvel does do villains great.
Hi there, Chris here thanking you for your consistency in commenting on my videos. I’m grateful for your love and support it really means a lot. Where are you streaming from currently?
The shot when thor gives the children his powers for a limited time only. When the camera is facing down on the children the energy kinda looks like the "Yggdrasil" tree from norse mythology. Could be a stretch, but also interesting.
I don't think we'll see any more Mighty Thor, but I DO think that sending her to Valhalla sets Jane up perfectly to come back as (a) Valkyrie, since that's what happened in the comics. Sacrificed herself as Mighty Thor, went to Valhalla, came back. so... yeah. Edit: Also, that theory is more or less exactly what was explained in the comics. When Mjolnir transformed her into Mighty Thor, it was also burning all the "poison" out of Jane's veins.
You know what also happened in the comics? Gorrr wasn't a kiddie snatcher, but a formidable foe who fought Thor across three timelines and his ultimate plan was to build a bomb that would kill all gods and three versions of Thor, three serious and totally badass version of Thor, had to team up to stop him. Oh, and he was never "redeemed" in the comic. It's the focal point of the story that Gorr is a bad person and doesn't deserve redemption. So I say we don't use comics, because MCU Thor movies have nothing in common with them after the first movie.
Thor: Love and Thunder had a very good message about love and it was stylish. A win in my book. Plus, an amazing transition to end credits, both visually and musically.
interesting fun fact about the kiss scene: as Natalie Portman is vegan and Chris Hemsworth is just living off of meat, he didnt eat meat for 24h before their kiss just out of politeness for her.
I think the reason this movie was as bonkers as it is is because it was Korg's telling of the story. He narrates the whole thing and he has a tendency to paint each adventure in a funny manner.
I’ve been conflicted about rewatching this movie again, since I enjoyed it when I watched it in theaters, but it’s been a disaster scrolling online and seeing all of this negativity about it. So I’m so glad to see this in my feed, and I can’t wait to rewatch it now!
I feel the exact same way! I loved it when I saw it, and I was surprised by all the negative criticism it got. Then again, I was mostly disappointed by Endgame so maybe I just have different tastes than most other MCU fans.
I enjoyed the movie in theatres although i had a few problems with it i thought it was good movie. Even before the movie the comments haf already got my mood spoiled but after watching it when i came across all the comments i just gave up. I still have pretty big criticisms but the movie was still enjoyable

If I have to see those goats again I will be the one screaming. I think everything with Jane in this movie is great while everything with Korg overstays it's welcome. I've always been someone who enjoys more light-hearted and funny things, but Korg and the goats made this movie a chore to get through. It's like Taika looked at how balanced Ragnarok was and said "I know what they loved. The jokes!" When it was the blend that really made it special.
I watched this movie on an OLED TV and the scene in Gor's layer is so dang crisp! The deepest blacks, with no bleeding from the ligher, brighter parts of the scene are truly a site to behold. Very impressive setpeice.
My biggest complaint about this movie is the hit or miss use of themes. It sets up some really amazing moral conundrums regarding Thor’s godhood and the corruption of authority among the powerful (following up on Ragnarok and Depressed Thor). I don’t feel like the movie sticks to that potential
I think asking philosophical questions and leaving us to ponder the answers is my favourite way to address moral conundrums in entertainment. I see this as an absolute win.
@@AngeloBarovierSD you know, I really like that. I do still hope we see Thor pondering those conundrums more himself. I’m not sure that fatherhood of his villains kid is quite the same theme as deity problems. The good thing is Zeus is probably the biggest villain of the next movie, so the theme will probably get continued!
@@empatheticrambo4890 I hope we see more of it as well. I think some growth toward a more Odinesque bearing would befit the character's grand arc. I like the character's dynamic of being flippant and apparently aloof but revealing greater emotional depth (see his convos with Rocket). Personally, I think he uses intentional buffonery as both cover and to entertain those around him. Like he's sharing his own coping mechanism. I think it's a subtle brilliance of Hemsworth's performance, along with the writing (which I'm sure, at this point, he gets a say in). See 14:55 where his _apparent_ ignorance of an Earth idiom ("break a leg") is displayed in his follow-up line ("I'll break all his legs"). Jane's chuckle suggests she knows he's playing dumb just to make her laugh. That's my take on the exchange, anyway. Alas, I digress.

@@slimgrim3607 Honestly I think you missed why Thor fanboys were so upset. They think the movie butchered his character and his development and didn’t take his journey seriously. Yes, the internet does know what it’s talking about(in this situation), simply being “enjoyable” doesn’t cut it for everyone.
I loved the kid fight scene. The movie started as a nightmare fuel thing then gives kids watching something to work with to fight their own closet monsters.
I loved the movie and rewatched it over and over. My only problem with it was that it wasn’t long enough and needed more. More locations, more Gorr, more Necro Sword backstory. We didn’t see Gorr find and butcher the gods. And whenever he was on screen, every shot change was inconsistent so you could tell that a lot was edited out. Which Marvel and Taika confirmed since they felt that a lot of Gorr’s scenes were too scary or rated-R. So that was a bummer and it hurt the film, but I loved everything else about the movie. People were too harsh on it
this movie gets so much hate but me and my friends were cracking up the whole time in the theater and couldn’t look away. i’ll always prefer serious movie but this one is very self aware as a comedy and sticks to it very well
I don’t think it’s as good as Ragnarok but Love and Thunder is still a pretty fun movie! The shadow realm battle is fantastic and the comedy is pretty good (a little forced at times but still enjoyable) Christian Bale’s performance was incredible as well and Dad Thor is adorable, 7.5/10
One of my favorite things is that Thor gets the little girl clothes that represent Loki. As she is stubborn, tricky and undying like Loki but she is also family like Loki. Love it
i would also LOVE to see the 4 hour version, i feel like it would make the story flow so much better and not feel so rushed. I loved this movie and appreciated it more the second time around, but at times it felt like watching a movie on 2x speed.
I like to describe this movie as a fun cheesy 80s movie with a layer of modern effects Its meant to be fun, and easy to follow, and thats why I reallt like it, there's enough spectacle and lore stuff that appeals to both hardcore nerds and those who dont know
@@pyropulseIXXI why are you crying man, as a hardcore marvel fan i really liked the movie. Yea it's not as good as ragnarok but it is not as bad as People make it seem. Almost all the jokes were funny, the music slaps and gorr is an amazing villian (eventho i wanted to see more of him)
I think it was just the wrong story to have be fun. It's about a villain who's a murdering psycho and a main character who's battling cancer. If this was the tone for the second Thor film, I think it could have worked much better.
24:15 It took me a while to figure it out but I'm certain that next week will be EGA Lightyear? Here's a list of suggestions to consider for the week after: -The Iron Giant -Forrest Gump -Atlantis: The Lost Empire -The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (Extended Edition) -Star Wars: Clone Wars (2008 Film) -Jurassic World: Dominion (Extended Edition) -MARVEL's What If...? (Disney+ Series) -Night at the Museum -The Nightmare Before Christmas -Big Fish
If he's doing Lightyear, then surely he needs to do Turning Red as well. But I guess Lightyear is so divisive that this takes top priority, Pixar-wise.
I doubt we'd see What If. This channel is called CINEMAwins. I wouldn't say no to shows but it's incredibly unlikely. There would probably need to be another channel, there's A LOT of new and very long material to work with and it would likely delay the main channels content by a huge amount considering there's just a bit of a time difference between shows and movies.
@@goji253 He did a series of EGA videos for WandaVision; so there's a possibility he might eventually make EGA videos for television shows (or specific episodes) & shows exclusive to streaming services?
One thing I walked away with from this movie is that despite it having the makings of a romantic comedy, it avoids the most common (and annoying) narrative device of that genre: bad communication. While Thor doesn't always immediately say what's on his mind, when he does he doesn't hold back, doesn't beat around the bush, and makes himself understood. I think part of the reason is that the movie had a lot of other things to do and so didn't have the time to deal with that sort of nonsense, but it also reads to me as how much Thor has matured by this point in his story.
Ahhh Thor Love and Thunder: the most under appreciated recent installment in the MCU. I’ll be honest, it wasn’t my favorite either, there were a lot of things that could have been better, and debatably *should* have been better. After thinking about it though, I think this film executes what it was meant to in the best possible way. The biggest thing that changed my mind on my thoughts on this movie was the fact that Korg narrates the movie. Once I remembered this, I became more appreciative of THOR:L&T. Of course it’s going to be weird, and of course it’s going to have HUGE narrative loopholes, and of course it’s not going to be serious. That’s Korg, and Korg narrates the film. Personally, I think of this film as a “based on a true story” MCU film. This isn’t what actually happened, this is a retelling of the events that takes a lot of artistic liberty.
I don't care what others think of this movie, although i do get their point. But i enjoyed the movie very much, it even made me cry. Right from the start the tone of the movie was established very well not like other marvel movies which seems to be a serious movie and puts in a lame joke right during the serious scenes. I got exactly what i was expecting from Taika Waititi.
I have to say this is one of my favorite MCU movies, and it absolutely hit all the marks for me. I know it wasn't the most serious or integral to the MCU, but the jokes were funny, the soundtrack hit, the emotional moments landed, and the actors really killed it. I think a lot of people only go into Marvel movies to analyze every scene. By those standards, it's not the best movie. This movie is also not as brutal as the others, and can be inspiring to kids, which I loved. It still pulled the heartstrings. I also loved that, for me, it redeemed a character who I thought of as mundane and boring. It really made Jane's character amazing. Also, the majority of the kids in this film are the actors' kids, which is adorable and heartwarming. I also liked Ragnorak, so I am definitely preferential to the light-hearted action and humor that we don't usually see in MCU movies. But this movie just killed it.
You know its a good villain when you immediately start rooting for them, and keep rooting for them all through the movie. I really want to see a movie about Dad Thor and Love going on adventures. It really gives me Kratos and Atreus vibes, and I'm here for it. That said, I loved Gorr and Mighty Thor. And that November Rain schene hit so hard !
I really liked this movie, glad to finally see a positive video about it. I feel like, at least on the internet, I'm completely alone in enjoying this movie. The amount of fatigue some people have from Marvel is staggering when you consider they could just... you know, not watch MCU stuff? It's pretty simple really. I for one love this movie. Not as much as Ragnarok, but it's such a shame Taika won't be returning for a future Thor movie.
That scene with Gorr's daughter dieing broke me in theaters. My dad sat next to me and I believe him embracing me was the only thing that helped me stay quiet for the audience. XD Weekly request for Mean Girls. ^^
Dying* dieing is technically correct (despite what auto-correct says), but I thought I'd correct your technical correctness for no reason other than to add one more to my collection of pathetic corrections
I wonder if Eternity heard Thor, which is why the child who appears (Gorrs daughter) is more than what we see - the literal embodiment of love, rather than just her normal self. We know Love is one of those powerful figures too (seen in her own universe reflection), so I really want her to either be apart of the young avengers, some vigilante who has to discover her true power, or even in a villan role would not be mad XD lol
It’s easily in my top ten Marvel projects, quite possibly due to my absolute love of Taika’s work, & what he gets out of others. Love this channel. Thank you for your vibe - it is helpful to the world
The way Chris's daughter says "I don't think I like panflaps" with her trying so hard not to laugh kills me she's adorable more of her in the next thor movies 🤣
You cannot be serious...... the jokes were from 2010 (annoying goats), the jokes didn't land at all (unlike Ragnarok which was awesome), Gorr was colossally ruined, Jane's story was a disaster and super cheap, only working because people are easy to manipulate emotionally (oh no, she has cancer; my favorite grandma-ma had cancer, so I totally feel for this movie! so well done!!!!) Do you not get it? The movie was absolute cud, you were fooled into thinking the movie was good merely because your "heart-strings" were pulled. Sad

Love this movie because it actually progresses Thor's Character Arc. In Endgame/Infinity War he refused to let people go, thinking that "fate is on his side" as if he could stop death itself and when he couldn't it broke him. That's what we saw in Endgame, a man who couldn't move on and now in this film he has one thing, just one thing back that he lost and he finds out the woman he loves is dying of cancer. As you said he let's her chose how she wants to spend her final moments and in doing so loses another person he loves but this time he has a choice in the matter and grows by letting it happen and not looking away when she dies. Yeah this movie is goofy and surly not everything works but in no way would I call this film bad.
Part of it is the expectations and the fact phase 4 of MCU hasn't been groundbreaking. People have been told they would get new stories, and given how good the Infinity Saga was expected quality of that caliber, but apart from Spiderman: No Way Home nothing really came close to it. And with Thor: Love & Thunder, that is not different. The movie is decent imo but it is not the new Infinity War, and patience is running thinner with every bad, mediocre or 'merely decent' films. To top it off it is guilty of trends in Hollywood that alienate part of the audience. Not everyone will like it if Valkyrie outperforms the poster boy, even if there are technically rules that allow that, and to be fair, Thor never really gets his comeuppance, and neither did he against Hela. That is not to say this movie is a flop and has no redeeming qualities. The message on cancer is welcome, the villain is written smartly and there are a bunch of good jokes in there, even if they start to go stale after all the comedies in the MCU (as opposed to She-Hulk, which for a supposed slice-of-life comedy has very little humor afaics). It has problems, but nothing that writes it off completely. It is however indicative of how MCU Phase 4 is a serious step down in quality from the Infinity Saga, and I for one am not looking forward to Phase 5 anymore.
@@the_tactician9858 comparing phase 4 with an entire complete 3 phases is arguably the most stupidest and dumbest shit I’ve ever heard !Knowing very well phase 4 is like the phase 1 of the infinity saga !Like WTF ?LOL
I collected Groo the Wander comics when I was in Middle school and High school. He was such a fun character that I've used his name in every video game I've played for the past 30+ years. Also Chris said in an interview that we was so bored during the lockdowns that he spent his time in his gym and as a result he's even more ripped now as a result than he was in the other movies, so they had to show it off in this movie.
While I personally didn't like the movie, it did have some good moments. That is why I love this channel, there is always something nice to say about almost any movie. I can watch this and see a few things that I did in fact enjoy. Thanks for posting!
This is perhaps the biggest disconnect between my excitement for the movie and what we got. BUT, and I tip my hat to you for pushing this more and more in my head, but I just love loving things. I had fun, I laughed, I LOVED the darkness and the weird. I would ADORE them releasing the 4 hour cut, just because I want to see what it all had, I want to see all the madness together. If anything this movie did feel rushed and maybe even unfocused, but the moments that worked were delightful and it was a joy to watch.
Doing a Thor movie rewatch and saw this pop up. Really wish I didn't have work in 30 minutes. Been a great Thorsday on a Saturday. Loving this channel.
I loved in this movie that the bad guy won and what saves Thor and the other gods is that Gor had a change of heart after witnessing Thor's love for Jane.
I saw this on my birthday this year, the first movie I saw in theatres since 2019. It was such an amazing experience, I nearly wept several times. The second I got home I had to hold my kids and tell them how much I loved them. Also best performance by Christian Bale in a comic-book movie don't @ me
Glad to see you get to this movie. I loved almost every bit of it despite its flaws. So happy to see even our usual optimist point out what this movie did great while still acknowledging its shortcomings. Yes I would have been overjoyed if this movie was perfect. But I don’t expect that. Some thing that more of the fandom should understand. Even the best movies in the MCU have their flaws. But that doesn’t stop us enjoying them to their fullest. Thank you for being a ray of understanding ray of sunshine in our fandom along with many other fandoms you help cultivate the hood in. 😊
I'm so glad this video exists. I loved this movie so much and was kind of discouraged to see so many people online hating on it. It makes me happy to have someone else appreciate it (especially the ending) as much as I did.
100% lots of the people who hate this film and MCU products after this such as She Hulk appear to be influenced by reactionary UA-camrs who criticise everything by using buzz words like ‘woke’ not just because it’s part of their negative channel brand but because they hate diversity in media period. Nerdrotic for example is one of the worse and he doesn’t even try to hide the bigotry when he tries. Makes me wish She Hulk in its second season when mocking misogynistic online trolls, they’d use actual footage or at least screenshots of his content to properly expose the true nature of people like them. Honestly, She Hulk taking the piss out of internet trolls was absolutely based.

"Come on guys..let's lighten up..Thor's going through some stuff'' THIS LINE IS EXACTLY WHAT I FEEL TOWARDS THIS WHOLE MOVIE! I mean What If season 1 episode 7(What if Thor was an only child?) is proof that Thor is so jolly and humorous when he doesn't have Loki as a brother..although that version of him is a bit more happier..and not bottled up by grief
Finally. Some positive words about this film. It ain't perfect, but I was entertained by it. And the film got me to cry over the villain at the beginning and end! 4:44, kills me every time. Also, is the next film Lightyear? Because if so; YAY!
I swear that Kat Dannings is the best part of the Thor movies besides Thor himself, but i feel like her character was kinda treated better in WandaVision
So I just took my niece to a convention last weekend as Thor and Love and I brought her panflaps for breakfast (she came in 3rd in the kids costume contest too ❤️)

Personally, I liked this movie when it came out, in spite of any/all criticisms people had about it. Don't get me wrong, there are certain elements that didn't work, jokes that didn't land, and at 1hr 40 mins - if they wanted to squeeze in more stuff, then fine by me. Asking for the 4th Thor movie to surpass the unexpected hit that was Ragnarok is no easy task, and for the story that they wanted to tell, I think they did okay. Granted Ragnarok will forever be my favourite Thor movie, but I appreciate their efforts. I liked the visuals, I LOVED the cast, and hadn't expected the story to end with Thor as an adoptive father, but it's a sweet note to end on. Remember - if you like something that lots of other people seem to be hating on, then Congrats! You found something to like where they didn't.
Haha. After watching Cinema Therapy do an absolutely amazing job explaining some of the therapeutic things coming from the MCU (movies in general), I realize this movie is fantastic! Thank you for another wonderful video and giving me another reason (already watching the Disney+ Marvel timeline) to return to this movie after watching only a couple weeks ago.
13:22 This kinda reminded me of the famous shot from Georges Méliès’ “A Trip to the Moon.” 16:38 It also needed the right level of rage behind it. 17:23 And Christian Bale gets the expression just right for this moment. Gorr really had been so focused on vengeance for so long that it had never even occurred to him that he could wish for his daughter back, and then Thor hits him with the universe’s biggest clue-by-four.

Bonus win: at 15:30 ish, when Thor powers up all the children, the lightning takes the form of Yggdrasill. In regards to the line about Zeus's accent: me and my gf are both Greek and when we heard this accent in the theaters we half expected him to start cussing Thor out in Greek. By far the best Greek accent from a non-Greek actor.

Some things I learned about this movie:
-Most of the Asgardian children belong to the cast and crew, Taika's kids, Bale's kids, Hemsworth's kids, Portman's kids, which I think is fun and adorable
-Russell Crowe convinced Taika to let him use the Greek accent after doing the same take twice one with and one without
-Korg's partner is Dwayne, The Rock alien, Dwayne, it's a very funny joke and I didn't see it mentioned by many people
-Natalie Portman said she loved getting buff for this role and it was one of the more fun roles she's had in awhile
having the kids of the people working on this movie be in this movie is actually pretty clever, as they won't have to hire child actors, their parents will already be around anyway and, further more, it's also a way to reward said cast and children by Taika. win-win-win, I'd say.

Great comment
Everything good about this movie is in spite of Taika
@@ishaanhall78 Taika's great and all, but a good end product survives every bit of resistance it faces; having yes men around him, like George Lucas for the Star Wars prequels, made it weaker than it could've been.

She stuck to her CGI guns
The depiction of someone battling cancer is eerily spot on for what I was expecting to be an over-comedic, action flick. Jane often looked so much like my own mother did during her battle. And with that there were definitely days when my mom was doing so well she almost seemed above her normal health, almost heroic, but after each of those days the next would be even worse. I was not prepared to find so many strong emotions tied into this movie. I applaud it and am patiently waiting to have the courage to watch it again.
Let's hope your mother went to a better place like Jane did.

@@veltzon4322 which could’ve worked had there been more of him.
@@PhantomLantern2814 Yeahhhhh, definitely. At some point I had completely forgotten about Gorr. Still, his scenes were great
That last point about Gorr not overstaying his welcome is something I genuinely appreciate about this movie.
It's not accurate to anything. This movie is an insult to the comics and myths.
I'm surprised he didn't know that
Does anyone else feel like inside a Taika Waitiki wacky Thor adventure, there was a powerful, emotional Gorr film trying to escape?

He lost his partner and now adopts the child of his enemy. All in all, I really enjoyed it, though recognize the issues.
I honestly loved this movie. I have no problem admitting the ending (basically when you realize Jane / Mighty Thor chooses to sacrifice herself to the "Love and Thunder" moment), had me in tears.
I think what you mention of Portman not adapting to Taika Watiti's style of humor is more that Jane is still only just becoming a super hero. I thought a lot of her moments were hilarious. Also, I want more Darcy (Kat Dennings) in the MCU.

(Also, on a personal note, I would've included a win for seeing Valkyrie wear a Phantom of the Opera shirt in the film. Even Asgardian warrior women can develop great taste in musicals 😊😉).

You read my mind! Jane eventually became a Valkyrie in the recent comics, so we could get more of her kicking a** in that capacity!
I loved the part where Thor rode his axe like he was a witch on a broom, so inspiring

Yes, the internet does know what it’s talking about(in this situation), simply being “enjoyable” doesn’t cut it for everyone.
@@hdhhhrhr175 how did it butcher his character arc?
People were too harsh on it
this movie gets so much hate but me and my friends were cracking up the whole time in the theater and couldn’t look away. i’ll always prefer serious movie but this one is very self aware as a comedy and sticks to it very well
People really went to the theatres expecting a Waititi movie to not be a comedy.

I like to describe this movie as a fun cheesy 80s movie with a layer of modern effects
Its meant to be fun, and easy to follow, and thats why I reallt like it, there's enough spectacle and lore stuff that appeals to both hardcore nerds and those who dont know
The hardcore nerds hate it, because taikia f*cked up on so many levels. This is fast food of movies; trash, but enjoyable and tasty
@@pyropulseIXXI So you like it or not? Cuz your multiple comments have incredibly differing tones.
@@pyropulseIXXI why are you crying man, as a hardcore marvel fan i really liked the movie. Yea it's not as good as ragnarok but it is not as bad as People make it seem. Almost all the jokes were funny, the music slaps and gorr is an amazing villian (eventho i wanted to see more of him)
I see what you mean with the 80s comparison but it really doesn’t land. It’s like it’s trying too hard to be cheesy that it comes off as disingenuous
Here's a list of suggestions to consider for the week after:
-The Iron Giant
-Forrest Gump
-Atlantis: The Lost Empire
-The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (Extended Edition)
-Star Wars: Clone Wars (2008 Film)
-Jurassic World: Dominion (Extended Edition)
-MARVEL's What If...? (Disney+ Series)
-Night at the Museum
-The Nightmare Before Christmas
-Big Fish
If he's doing Lightyear, then surely he needs to do Turning Red as well. But I guess Lightyear is so divisive that this takes top priority, Pixar-wise.
Yeees, I would love Hobbit or Iron Giant!

I love the family/love aspect of this movie so much. I need more Thor and Korg are gonna be great dads
So, love and Thunder is a lot like Iron Man 3?
It’s hard to not root for him when every other god we see is a dick…all two of them
I really liked this movie, glad to finally see a positive video about it.
XD

13:27 Christian Bale nailed this entire sequence. And the opening scene. He carried this movie.
This film was so much fun in theaters. The jokes were fun. The action was great. Gorr was terrifyingly well done. Jane's story is so compelling.
You cannot be serious...... the jokes were from 2010 (annoying goats), the jokes didn't land at all (unlike Ragnarok which was awesome), Gorr was colossally ruined, Jane's story was a disaster and super cheap, only working because people are easy to manipulate emotionally (oh no, she has cancer; my favorite grandma-ma had cancer, so I totally feel for this movie! so well done!!!!)

I just wanted to day i love this channel. I did not like this movie but going through it with a positive lens makes me appreciate more then I thought i could. In every film there is something to appreciate and i find what you do incredible

I loved in this movie that the bad guy won and what saves Thor and the other gods is that Gor had a change of heart after witnessing Thor's love for Jane.
The Necro sword is tied to the symbiotes in the comics and the shadow creatures look similar to symbiote.
it's neat cuz marvel doesn't have the rights to the symbiotes (those belong to Sony), but still managed to sneak some of it in.
