This implies that the cinema-going experience is the only "real" way to consume movies and that film as an art form will die out when people don't go back into the theaters, but exactly the opposite is true. You can reach a much wider audience with streaming (as big as Spider-Man is, the infinitely worse Red Notice and Don 't Look Up have probably been watched by just as many people), and the big Marvel-type blockbusters are killing the mid-budget Hollywood films. I'm a big Marvel fan, I watched the tv shows, including Runaways and Agents of SHIELD, and I had fun with No Way Home, but I wouldn't give it any awards just for getting people back into the theaters. Everything you're saying about it is true, but it's nothing new, and it doesn't revolutionize film making. The Oscar should go to the best film of the year, no matter the circumstances. It almost never does because of dozens of other factors, but if we're just honoring a movie because it was extremely popular and combined different franchises from different studios, then I want a retro-actice Oscar for Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
I just like the idea that a movie that has brought so many people together and been such a success financially and critically deserves to be included when deciding the best picture award. And I honestly don't think this year has been blessed with many outstanding films. I haven't seen them all but from what I have seen I don't see why Spider-Man cannot win it. Maybe Don't Look Up has more of an appeal for the academy but to see the joy on people's faces from reactions I've seen is what makes films amazing. Also, I think it will be really cool for it to win as well. And I hope it does. The past two years have been depressing, so I just want a film that has brought a lot of smiles and brought everyone together to win best picture. Thanks for the comment!
@@filmisjustmovingpictures Don't Look Up definitely has more of an appeal for the Academy, but it would be a terrible Oscar winner. Not only because it's not really that good, but also because it will be instantly dated in a way that almost every other possible winner won't be. I'd take a No Way Home win over it any day.
@Sangoku s Yes, because sometimes a movie like this, that has brought people together, that has garnered discussions, and that has brought people back to cinemas deserves some praise. As I've said, it's not the best film on a technical or story level, it is a good movie but not even the best superhero/marvel/spider-man movie, but I do think that we should take into account this pandemic and how people have felt so separated and how this movie has brought a lot of people together. That's cool and that's what movies should do. Also, it's just a lot of fun and why should that be disregarded. Sometimes a movie is about how it makes people feel, not about what camera lens they use.
@@filmisjustmovingpictures the Oscar’s don’t care what camera lens you use. If this film is just as lot of “fun” then why didn’t Pineapple Express get an Oscar nomination aswell since that was fun. It’s a good movie and most people enjoyed it but it’s not good enough to be Oscar nominated.
No it shouldn't and someone who has a film channel should know better. Oscar's are for exceptional movies, more art than blockbuster. This isn't it. Endgame and infinity war were more deserving for being the madcap of a decade of storytelling
Why can't a fun blockbuster movie win it, the audience and critics enjoyed it, it got people excited to go back to the cinema's, and it brought a sense of community that was just so amazing to be part of. That excitement and love for the character is art and it's film being loved. I think that is more than good enough for a film to win it. And it would just be really cool if a Spider-Man movie won an Oscar. How amazing would that be.
@@filmisjustmovingpictures Its not the MTV movie awards. The oscar are for outstanding achievement in film not box office numbers. Should we nominate fast and furious movies? They're popular! I have 0 problems with a blockbuster being nominated for best picture. Dune is a perfect example. Return on the king winning is another and both those films deserved recognition. No way home isnt even thr best MCU film and does not deserve a best picture nod.
thanks for watching my videos this year! Sorry about not completing my spider-man series, and look forward to more content next year!!!! 😄
It was good but come on man, Dune should win best picture it was unique.
Dune feels like half a movie. I think dune part 1 is only successful if part 2 is very good
@@filmisjustmovingpictures it is a half movie it’s only the first half of the first book
Nice video as always man, keep it up and happy new year
Thanks dude, I appreciate the support! And happy new year!

Awesome review!!!!!
This movie is best of it's kind
Definitely should get the recognition ❤️
The mulled wine after the movie hit differently... And so did the Martin Tyler reference
I had to show my respect to Sergio Aguero because of his retirement
it should win 2 Oscars for Best Picture and Music
If they played the spiderman theme from Sam raimi's movie more...then I would agree 😅
No
