    If the tool is too easy to use and everyone can use it, then hiring someone to do it is completely meaningless. Do not lose hope, if everything is special then nothing is special, what we have is individuality and artistic. When we start learning to draw, animation,... There have been tons of people who have gone before us and reached the certain high level, but that doesn't make us falter and give up right from the start. So always be creative.

    Hi Alessandro ! Was on AM QnA. Thank you for doing it ! So good to hear an opinion of a professional animator.

    This reminds me a lot how just a couple of years ago concept artists were very convincing in explaining why AI cannot replace them. All the same arguments.
    I hope we animators won't have to dodge such a hard and direct blow as artists but the big change seems imminent.

      I think for concept is a bit different.. You can still make a still image that look nice... A image dosent need to covey emotions, a storytelling or acting... Can be as simple as a portrait, or an object or an environment... But animation involve human emotion.. And story telling.... Even chat gtp if you ask him to write a good story fail in so many levels

      Ai still cannot replace good concept artist, or artist in general: art requires lots of study and intellectual and/or emotional thinking through personal experience above visual taste, which a person who prompt will never have as long as they just... prompt.
      It's 2 years we have AI, and still ai images are soulless and with very predictable result: everything always the same, and that s because AI and prompter just follows probability without artistic knowledge and human experience.
      So, AI will just help do some task faster as a "concept of the concept" but the core of the job will still remain a professional artist thing.
      This or you can think of it also like: a prompt is not an art piece, which still and always have to go through a sinergy of technical, time and human effort.

      @@LucaRestoWhat I see around me is that in some cases whole departments are being replaced by just a handful of high-level artists. This applies for more versatile fields like ads for now, but damn, it's happening.
      Putting wishful thinking aside "AI will just help do some task faster" means that less people are needed to get the job done. Hard to tell if somehow more work is going to emerge and how it is going to balance out eventually but right now things are going south for the artists.

      It's not the first of it's kind , there is another Website that has personality Parameter you just put the root motion that you want and you get your animation . Mocap is mopac from AI or a Suit . So there is nothing to worry about 😊

    I think this is a misguided argument and a real distraction. The question is, how many efficiencies are gained through the emergence of AI driven tools. 10% job loss 90%? I don’t think anyone would seriously believe animators would be replaced completely. We’re already seeing job reductions in 2d departments as a result of these tools. A 50% reduction is not something to scoff at. This all feels a lot like copium. Please take AI seriously people.

    I'm a 2d artist, and although I can see the cool potential of the AI image generation, I can say that at the moment it's really a pain in the ass and a huge waste of time to get it to show me the image I have in my mind. I can't render like the AI, but unless I want some generic bs, I'm better off doing the ideation and design on my own. I at times I use it as a reference generator, but 8/10 I get better results searching pinterest than asking the AI for images.

    AI is a current tech buzzword at the moment and it's easy for companies to raise money on tools that they convince investors will be disruptive. I think what they will soon find out is that while it's impressive that you can type in a prompt and get a result in seconds, the reality is that the real world application of a lot of these AI tools will fit in very few actual productions. Even background characters will need SPECIFIC direction. My prediction is people will try like crazy to MAKE these tools fit because they want to save money, but they'll find that by the time you get the human artist to fix/modify whatever the AI made, you'd have spent less money and gotten a better result just getting a person to do it from the get go.

    What do you think about tools like cascadeur for efficient animations ?

  • @Zenedean
    @Zenedean 6 місяців тому +1

    animators break rules of the reality to make more extreme poses with different angles so AI cant replace a real animator because its also about psychology

    The only people that think AI is a threat to their jobs are people starting out (they don't know any better) and people who aren't animators (they don't know any better). Once you get established, you are probably experienced enough to see how glaringly flaw AI is.
    My linkedin is filled with people claiming "how terrifying AI is" and it's really annoying...

    Alessandro, what do you think about software like cascadeur that uses ai for helping with posing (it is not prompt based, it's more like an advanced rig)?

    • @acamporota
      @acamporota  6 місяців тому +2

      I might be wrong but I don`t think cascadeu use IA, look like it apply physics to your poses.
      i haven`t test the software yet, however looks nice if you want to achieve mocap quality without mocap, and have some help to do arc, or extra motion like moving hold or subtle animation after a landing, but not sure give you the same control as you have with a rig, and i am not sure is good enough if you want to do very exaggerated key frame animation. However i am keeping an eye on it

    Half of dreamworks laid off. Also how much faster will an animator animate? Cascaduer is a great tool and now can help animate 20-50% faster which means less workers needed.

      @@acamporota not sure. Still very new. Once it gets into pipelines it does speed up your work for sure. It keeps the artist in control but adds a ton of speed. So while AI tools won’t replace folks you simply won’t need as many people.

    I disagree. I think you created a straw man and answered, "Will your job be displaced by today's AI?" But if you were talking to students, then I am thinking the real question was, "do I have a future career in animation?" Given the surprises we've been seeing, and how early AI still is, I don't think we can responsibly give an answer to the student.

    You might think you've seen all AI can do for animation, but there's more to it. Right now, some folks who aren't really experts have been trying to use AI for animation, and their work isn't exactly game-changing. But imagine what will happen when real animators get their hands on AI. We all know AI has the potential to surprise us and really shake things up. Getting great animation from AI isn't tough; it just needs the right info from someone who knows what they're doing. This means people in animation or programming need to start thinking about more secure jobs since AI poses a threat to their fields. However, game development seems like it might be safe from AI's impact for a bit and could even benefit from it in the short run. But after that, it might be smart to look into more stable areas, maybe something like real estate.

    • @rafaelcuculic7593
      @rafaelcuculic7593 Місяць тому

      No point in searching for any job in case this actually happens. It would mean ai reached cognition of a human brain. Real estate agents would definitely be replaced in this scenario. Unless you are talking about renting your property, but that is not a job. Plus if everyone becomes jobless, no one will pay their rent.

  • @billpeet1976
    @billpeet1976 6 місяців тому

    I think the real answer is that AI isn’t able to replace animators YET. We’re in very early days. But in 5 years? 10 years? I definitely worry about the longer term impact. Today’s AI may be bland, generic, and unuseful, but what will it be like in 5-10 years? That should worry everyone.

    • @acamporota
      @acamporota  6 місяців тому

      We have the issue that ia create by copying other creator content... And this cannot be use in production... A company can't use ia to create a character.. Because if an artist found out that ia used his own image without his consent.. He can sue the company for millions of dollars... Big Company won't take this risk
