IA in animation (is our job safe?)

- Hi guys
one of my subscribers ask me what will happened when IA will be eventually able to produce animation.. we will be wit out job? or we will be able to use this technology in our favor and use it to create even better content.
AI is comming for every single creative and non-creative field. Even if you are a programmer, that are already AIs that can code and being developed to code. So you have to be aware but understand that we have no control over it.
It is in the music industry already, the writing industry, the video industry, photography etc... in the artfield it has existed already for 5 years (And many people were using it before this recent bloom)
The biggest issue is copyright (we can see the contrast in the music industry where musicians can opt in or out of the training data, but in the visual arts field they really are not respecting this issue, which is something concept artists and illustrators are fighting right now)
But I truly believe that this will enhance our potential and creativity when it gets good. It will be a tool, and maybe cut the lower end of the industry jobs in 5-10 years, you wil actually have to bring something to the table and see yourself more as a creative and person that can contribute and get shit done. I still believe in mastery, so have the fundamentals layed out to the best of your abilities, in the animation indsutry, if the 2D animators adapted to the 3D animation, they would stand out, because they already have good fundamentals and they could push the technology better. Animation, art etc all have fundamentals that can be translated to other areas, and that happens when you truly master it.
Thank you very much 🙏
There are areas where I can see AI supporting animators in the beginning. For example by helping to create balanced poses. We move a hand and the body follows naturally without the necessity to pose the shoulder, chest, spine cog etc. Or it helps with inertia and movement. Instead of us trying to get the COG work correctly and having the arcs of every limb to look beautifully it will support us with the locations. I think Cascadeur is leaning on AI for some of that.
In the end I hope the quality will be pushed for everyone. A new-be will create something which previously just a skilled animator could create. But the skilled animator can focus much more on acting choices, details and more exciting options which previously needed to be neglected because of time constraints. He will know where to use AI and where NOT to use it.
Yup this is my nightmare
Haha I agree. It is pretty scary to think of a machine that perfectly mimics human behavior without being human. My personal thoughts are that AI will have worldwide restrictions on how far it can be developed. Kinda like how nuclear weapons are rarely ever used if not at all, because of the atrocious outcomes and consequences of using them. AI will be the same in the sense that if we develop it too far then it might have the ability to overthrow humanity, and nobody wants this. So the nations of the world will have a "ban" on higher developed AI, kinda like Nuclear weapons.
Thanks very much for this video this was very insightful. 🙏🏾
Art is beautiful because we as humans can express our emotions through it, AI don't have no emotions yet lol
.... Yet 😂
AI wont take our jobs for sure, but god DAMN is cascadeur the best program ever. phisics based ai tools and autoposing? secondary motions?? 3d onion skinning?!
this program will change my life.
ai will never be able to produce stuff like milt kahl's pencil tests that is artistry
I don't think AI can or will in future determine certain interactions with the rigs and models, and certain camera views too. We as the animators can see what's behind, like how an artist can see the form of an object, even when part of it is out of view. Machine learning can only go so far, and even motion tracking technology still requires human input, so I am doubtful of AI actually taking 3d animators job positions.
Until AI learns to understand context and meaning, it will not replace humans.
that's the thing , it doesn't need to do that , for art it's already above acceptable level , it's nowere near the level of pro artists but it'll get better and if you're talking about meaning and context then sadly as true as this is , asside from artists , normal people don't care
i think storyboard artist and layout artist and animator will be just one job
Could be a possibility
Hi Alessandro.. a question. Do u think 2d animation could come back amidst all this? I am not seeing a possibility of AI taking over 2d as its impossible for it to draw by itself every frame?I feel with so much of 3d animation content and 3d animation being made easily by AI, I feel the value of 2d animation would increase. What are your thoughts?
the problem with 2d animation (that I personally love) is that nobody is teaching it anymore, except maybe few school or in japan, everyone just teach 3d.....a lot of 2d shows today are actually 3d render in 2d..so in 20 years there is a chance that nobody will know how to animate in 2d anymore.... unless a strong shift in the market happen..
@@acamporota also Gobelins in France, the best 2d animation school in europe
I started animation too late...
to soon to say
@@acamporotamotion diffusion generates animation from a prompt. It would be interesting to know what you think about animation quality. There are demos on youtube.
@@acamporota basically it reminds me of motion capture im terms of movement. Pretty scary

In every case were AI has been introduced it has not made things better, but worse for the people it has replaced. Don't think it will be very positive for normal animators. There will be less animation jobs.
Yes, We should Accept the Fact Instead of Building Falls Hope, If Company is able to Produce more and more, The Demand obviously will reduce, People are already Sick of Too much Content on the Internet, The World is Changing We are already Feeling It ,
@@vinayshankar5050 that's the rule of the universe, the world keeps changing. just look at 20 years before, if I talk about Indian market, there were PCOs(or Public call office) it was like a phone booth for public, who can just pay you and make their calls, but technology shifted and now there are mobile phones so the same guys who owned PCOs trashed it and they opened outlets for Mobile Recharge, now the technologies like Google pay / Paytm are there so even mobile recharge stores are outdated.
As things are getting more and more digitized the number of offline markets decreasing, but look on the bright side, as there are new technologies so will be the need for new specialists, this has happened many times. several VFX softwares became useless in the industry since Houdini arrived, but those who leaned Houdini got their high paying jobs, similar things happened when world changed from Typewriter to Keyboard, mudbox to Zbrush, Symbian to Android (for Nokia) etc etc. Older jobs discontinued while demand for new jobs arrived. However, since there are lesser and lesser jobs from older to current, we would have to move towards an expertise for this field or perhaps jump to the new field, so IMO if AI replaced the whole animation industry, there would be need for some few people who know how to handle AI and search some good content for production, there will always be need for some human monitoring, even motion capture couldn't replace whole animation process,. So if need arises we might become AI animators, who knows!!
tell this to the music industry who stood their ground against this and as a result the ai is only trained on royaly free songs , unlike the art community who had a similar mindset , just sat and rolled over and had their entire work stolen and used to tarnishtheir entire craft with a machine that floods the market with meaningless unimpressive garbage , and i have strong feeling the animation community is no different than that , we are lucky that 3D animation data is harder to extract and use the still images so they are only using mocap data for now , but how long , these companies like stability ai are relying on you to have this mindset and just let them walk over you , don't you love animation, do you want to just sit down while one of your favorit things to do is being ruined despite your will just fill the banks of some outsiders who have 0 passion or love or relation to art ?? this is definetly going to be hard but even if the situation was truely hopeless wouldn't you rather have fough ? wouldn't you rather have tried to face it at least to save what you like doing ? if we really were going to go down we shouldn't go down silently , show your disaproval and unwilingness to cope with this tech and if you didn't want to do that, if you just wanted to admit failure right away and sit in your corner then please don't pull down people who actually want to defend animation and art and don't you dare defend these ai devs , let them defend themselves
It's already done those days actually : ua-cam.com/video/3oVDdl9jCxE/v-deo.html
Animation is now an unstable field to work...
What you say is true but what we should be more concerned about is ai using professional animator's portfolio pieces to learn stylized motion. Just like how Midjourney grabbed millions of art pieces online from the best artists to create believable organic images that emulate certain artist styles from keywords. So now any product generated by the ai is proprietary without credit to the actual sources(the artists). People make the argument "Would you credit every artist you learn from? " but it's incredibly stupid to compare our learning and memory storage capabilities to machines. If they did this to the music industry they'd be facing massive lawsuits. Just rubs me the wrong way..
I don't like AI, yesterday one of my friends sent me a painting and said " I made it with AI in 10 minutes" and it was a fabulous painting which could take days by even an expert. It's really sad that people are busy developing for new things which are going to favour them in their business but could endanger artists over the world. I am afraid even for digital artists who are busy in studying and improving themselves which itself is a life taking journey are in danger of losing their jobs in some years . For 3D I am already seeing websites which can create your face model by just clicking your face photo and automatically add eyes, head and lip animation for your basic use.
But I wonder if people will actually go through with this, and why out of all sudden why AI painting websites pop up, is this a threat for humans for what is about to come in future? Should we update ourselves to AI so that we don't lose our job in future and get into AI industry ?
if everyone can create a masterpiece with AI in 10 minutes, maybe those masterpiece will have no value
@@acamporota exactly , they will have no value at all, the market will be flooded with effortless , meaningless , unintresting and unimpressive nonsens all by the back of hard working artists
The website that generate AI art are committing intellectual theft and they may face legal charges very soon because they used artists work to produce their result without consent.
And for those who think that AI is going to have conscience like they delude many in the multimedia the answer is no, the whole thing is based on data it receives if that data is lost it can't produce a thing nor think for itself and that data is made by humans.
For me the worst part isn't AI it's the ethical and moral decadence this industry is thrusting towards, and how artists are used for political or even satanic agendas without their knowledge.
