First of all, you are talking about my prefered motorcycle brand. I had a 1971 500 MACH 3 H1-A, a 1972 750 MACH IV H2, a 2001 ZRX 1200 and I have since 2003 a 1984 Gpz 900 R ZX9-A. Great video, I really enjoyed it!! Just one point of clarification, the GEN 3 Busa is 7 hp down from the Gen 2 Busa making it at least 20 hp down from the current Gen 2 ZX14R. So no contest there.
The ZX-12R was restricted heavily in the exhaust department, as well as some inlet/ECU restrictions. The Japanese management was too afraid of the Eurocrats to release it without the restrictions. The official project name of the bike was 'project 320', which showed their initial intent. My 'derestricted' (ign.advancer/full akra system/ derestricted inlet rubbers) 2000 model ZX-12R made 192bhp on the dyno.
The only motorcycle I ever owned was an '82 KZ650 CSR. I bought it in '98 for $500. I rode it year round for 2 1/2 years. I was working 2 jobs, and I didn't even own a car.
This explains why the ZX14 feels like piloting a jet / turbine / rocket. I'm coming up to my 8th or 9th Kwak iirc, 636 Ninja was my first big bike & I've been hooked ever since, the ZX14 will probably be the only bike i ride from now on! Buuut if i want a 1000cc i buy a Fireblade 😑 had three (and a SP1) so far, because Kwak litre bikes are razor sharp & unforgiving and i like the predictability and useability of Honda 1000's on the road. I don't track my bikes. As much as i would love a 2004 or 2006 ZX10R.... f-that for a daily at 6' 2" 😅
I'd agree with your statements about Kawi's and Honda's. Riding a 636 was impressive and sharp. A deadly track weapon, however my Honda's are more predictable and usable. I like them both but there's a different character with each.
@@RocketPropelledWombat Yes, linear! I don't discriminate - I love riding all bikes or at least trying them out. But whenever I throw my leg over one of my Honda's, I'm reminded how smooth and predictable and linear they are.

Without the success world wide of the A series bikes [A1 250, A7 350] from 1967-71 . There would have been no H1,they were on the verge of giving up motorcycle manufacturing ,after poor sales for B8 and the W1 worldwide.
You somehow missed the GPZ1000RX model in Europe it had 125 bhp and he the title worlds fastest bike. I was out one mine last week end if yo want a short clip of a original legend of a bike you would be welcome
I mentioned it in passing while discussing the successor ZX-10. I agree with you, however among the broader public, the gpz1000rx doesn't hold as much significance and recognition as the Tomcat, so I felt the Tomcat was more worth discussing.
motorcycles should drive 500 km/t by todays standarts , the 1988 kawasaki zx10 with 125.8HP did 270km/t . now they have all kind of smart electronics , and dubble the HP , but only goes 30 - 40 km faster ?!?!?!?
m8 Every Kawasaki is a Ninja in the US, except the Vulcan. BTW you got something wrong. Kawasaki didn't need the Motorcycle department. They wanted it. They didn't need the Money, they wanted it. So when they were entering the CEO said: We will be the best, or we will not be... Kawasaki at the Point of opening their first Motorcycle department is So Rich, and Makes EVERYTHING else in Japan. They were not competing for the US or any other market, they came to claim it. Often they would throw money at a project that other companies combined couldnt afford for a lineup. For Kawasaki that was at the Top, winning was the Only important fact. Because it represents who they are in the Business world. And one More thing is Kawasaki was a Zaibatsu family. Meaning rich people who control the Governments because they are so Rich, and own so much crucial production, the Government depends on them. So love them or hate them, it was never a competition. Also, another thing, The famous ZX10 you mentioned, cracked the 328Kph on the Oval, with the help of a legend called Dr Suda. R.I.P. He tuned the Intakes and Exhaust to help it there. What Kawasaki found in 1991 is that after 3 laps of Top speed, the Bike could take it, but after returning to the Pits, a technician saw the rear tire lacking 5 small walnut sized chunks of rubber. There was a full documentary on UA-cam when it was still young and free, but the Idiot I was didn't download it, even tho I thought even then It will eventually be deleted. Honda knew of this and they stopped competing for the speed king. But Suzuki being a child it is, was Like: Hey guys look at me I'm here for the party, showing up in 1999. 8 years late like a Jock showing up at a house party at 4AM. What's more naming their bike Hayabusa- Japanese Peregrine falcon, the Bird that hunts and kills Blackbirds. And when they did that, Kawasaki got pissed and made the ZX12, also made it 100cc less just to assert dominance. And the tire tech progressed so much it made them 5-6x better at this point. So the Busa's claim itself is true, but under what conditions. Its like claiming that the F100 Supersabre made in 1953 is faster than the Mig 15 from 1947. Yeah No shit... When we talked about the Japanese speed king contest, that was a competition on a yearly basis , sometimes it would change in 6 months. I had a Poop Scoop red ninja ZX12, and It's not faster than the Busa, maybe a mile, but it gets there faster. And it's way more Steerable. Busa is as American as a Japanese motorcycle gets: "It has a 8L v8 y'all see..." And thats the reason why Kawasaki went from 1400 to Supercharged, saying: " Enough of this primitive bullshittery, behold, the future... Technology, and expertise" What's a point of a Bike that's sole purpose it to go Fast straight.
