People say they can't afford em, yeah thats fair. But also I picked up my 2001 Ducati ST2 for $1800. Some of my favorite ones are under $3500. I like that older generation, less electronics but still fuel injected. Keep your eyes peeled you got this! Mines on my channel if you want to give it a look!

To be honest with you, ducati is not much more expensive than the standard Japanese bike. I've seen 1099 and 999 go for 6 to 8k depending on condition. But let me warn you. Once you ride a ducati, you won't want anything else.

@@nando03012009 Guess it depends where you're located, i specifically want the 1299 panigale which is going up in value all the time now, yeah the 999 and 1099 are cheaper tbf. 100% agree with riding, spent a good portion of my life riding my dads ducatis, just cant afford my own :L

My GT1000 Sport Classic is at 80,000 km and still strong and everything works. A genuine retro classic, it not only looks but really does feel like and remind me of my 750GT that I sold in 1979. I will be keeping it (but no racing this one).
I’ve owned around 70 motorcycles over some 50 years including seven Ducatis. Not only are they great surefooted things to ride but there is something special about building one and maintaining it all yourself. More than a bike. A love affair.

Loved this documentary of ducati! I've been a Japanese Sport Bike rider/owner since my first days of riding a honda 50cc. Years later graduating to the 954RR and Yamahas R1's. Of most recent times I had a 22 BMW S1000RR M SPORT which is an amazing bike . Unfortunately I had to get rid of it but having done that it opened the door to me getting a Ducati 1199. I'm still ironing out the details of the financial aspects but I am eager and excited about my new Ducati and becoming part of the Ducati family.

I ran my 1981 first series 600 SL Pantah for +100.000 km with no break-down, but weekly care like cleaning the Dellorto float chambers (open intake).
Careful warming up and otherwise race her.
Retired in 1994, engine dismantled and refurbished. Only the piston rings were beyond limits and one camshaft had minor wear.
If well taken care, similar to a race bike, even these old Ducatis are proven reliable.
The Pantah is still in my garage, next to a Panigale 1299S, the last of the 2-cylinder race bikes.

I've joined the fam via an "entry level" M 797. Having had a Lemans and VTR 1000 previously, the motor was disappointing because of the EU 5 compliant lean fuelling causing horrible throttle response, very jerky. Not Duc's fault. Having fitted K&N filter, ShiftTec cat delete shorty and Rexxer flash, plus plugged secondary air, it's bloody brilliant. I did include the dB killer, (it was too loud), it sounds fantastic too.

would love to have one. can't pay the maintenance so I ride Japanese. Is it soulless? no, it's beautifully smooth but it's not a ducati. If I could have a ducati I would be happy although more broke. I might buy a used one someday

Nope bro : check stats, japanese brands often got broken , service is cheaper they just stay in the middle as for costs, but they need to be fixed more than Ducati Aprilia or Triumph.

@@-thirteen it's not a matter of personal opinion or stereotypes, true facts talk, check by yourself all reports coming just from USA about honda's hundreds recalls , most due to engine multiple failures ( not kidding, engine) even 2 or 3 in row. Service most expensive ? #1 Harley, then Ducati and Triumph both same price, jap stay in the middle of table.

And in last decade Ducati bikes are ranked by prof riders, experts and customers best in reliability, not only in adv. technology and innovative engineering. Bias of socials stay bias, truth will be truth forever.😁

A very obvious Promo production with a lot of half-truth's and plain lies. In the beginning Ducati's just weren't very reliable. Ducati made some very bad lemons in the days. They just hung in there. Remarkable and thumbs up! They didn't have very high and even absent production and quality standards. Probably due to lack of funds. They broke down more than you and certainly they would like. Fixing them was another challenge because not every bike from same type and year was built the same way. If the red wire was out they used blue 🤨Poor documentation. They just couldn't keep up with the Big Four. Not on the track and not on the road. It's a miracle they survived. There were times that Ducati escaped bankruptcy. The British Industry didn't.( BSA, Triumph, Matchless, Vincent, Ariel) Their strength was and still is being different in sound, looks and experience . They never were gamechangers like the Big Four did several times starting in the 60's with the Cub, 750 Four, Z1 , Goldwing, Pan European, Honda Helix and so on. The Big Four totally wiped out the pre- existing dominating British, German, American and Italian competition. With reason.. Simply by making affordable reliable motorcycles. It took decades to partially recover from that blow. David versus Goliath. At a certain point they could only keep track and even win Superbike by allowing Ducati to race against 750cc Big Four competition with their 1000cc and later even bigger engines. Along with increased prosperity among mainly First World customers who wanted to fill in their needs ( induced by successful marketing) to own a more expensive, exclusive upmarket bike same as HD, BMW, Triumph, KTM are doing . Just as Apple, Tesla, Gucci and the likes are accommodating those wannabe needs. Nowadays Ducati is owned by VAG and they have enough financial support to enable them to fill in that role. Even lead MotoGP!.

Don't get me wrong. I love Ducati .I'm glad they are still there. I own an MTS 1200S. Before that a, by the masses , very underappreciated ST3. Very fine ride. ( But that one has some very Ducati-like issues. Battery placement was an afterthought. The faring has to come off replacing it😝 Fairing ? getting off is easy, the struggle begins when trying to get it back on 😝 ) I'm not fine when needing a computer and special software to service my bike. Which is mandatory both with the ST3 and the MTS. Same thing with the R 1200GS I still own, but it's for sale now. Very nice ride and looks also .But has it's own quality issues. ( ABS pump, drive shaft, going bad way too soon.
    Very, very expensive)
But my advice still is as it was back then in the sixties. Go to the Big Four if you want performance, looks reliability and affordability. If you can afford to pay much more to set yourself apart and think it's worth it? Follow your heart and not your brain.
