Summarizing the tips: 1. Use a fan to blow air on yourself to reduce motion sickness, reduce lens fogging, and provide an orientation cue. 2. Use a carpet the size of your play space to provide a tactile cue of your boundary. Use a smaller piece in the center so you know where you are in the space and can re-center yourself. 3. If you have a gaming PC, get a USB 3.1 gen 2 cable to play PCVR games... or play wirelessly using Virtual Desktop. This will also charge your battery while you play. 4. Buy a battery bank to get longer play life and provide a counterweight for better comfort. 5. Get good headphones for louder sound, sound isolation, privacy, and better base. When you take your headset off, move the headphones 6. Use a proper cleaning cloth to clean your lenses. 7. Buy VRCover's replacement face cushion for better comfort and hygiene. They come with a nice cleaning cloth for #6. 8. Get knuckles grips (e.g. Mamut grips) so you don't have to grip the controller all the time. 9. 3D printing is a great way to build accessories yourself.

Virtual Desktop is available on the Oculus store but after installing it you have to use SideQuest to "install it again" which will patch it and enable to wireless gaming features. 4. 400-500 grams is a good weight to shoot for.
Robert Vanden Heuvel I get car sick but surprisingly don’t get motion sickness, so in he car for long drives I wear seabands. If I get motion sick using the quest 2 (which I didn’t from the quest 1) then I will try seabands. Thanks
I find that when I'm immersed I don't really notice the change in floor texture. Particularly not when wearing shoes. Maybe I need a bigger texture difference but I also don't want a rug in the middle that's so high I might trip on it while in VR!

Tyler, at 4:05 you are playing with a sim and you are using a vive tracker for motion compensation, right? I'd really like to know how did you manage to make that work since as far as I know, motion compensation does not work with inside out tracking systems. Some friends are really looking forward to buy that sim but I told them they will not be able to run motion compensation with Quest. Am I wrong? How did you do that? Thanks Tyler.
Thanks for your clear also polished INFO. I found that I could follow your video’s with a more relaxed feeling than other video’s. Some other video makers try to fit in too much info, and it becomes garbled.
Smoothest segues 2020. Also, for anybody using rugs: get anti-slip rug grippers so that the rug itself doesn't slide along the floor. They kinda work like double-sided tape but designed to stick to the underside of a rug.
With the carpet it might also be useful to stick it down with double sided tape. I still need to do it myself but I can feel the carpet sliding a bit when playing some beatsaber songs on Expert or higher. The fan also has another use as well and that is to cool you down with some of the games that give you a great exercise. I was using all these little tricks as well since I got my PSVR as my first VR HMD. After that I got my Oculus Rift CV1, Quest 1 and very soon the Quest 2 to replace both my older Oculus devices. Another tip is good cable management when your have to run a cable from PC to the VR HMD, because it breaks immersion when you step onto the cable or it gets in the way of your arms.
In the EU this is less of a problem with the waiting lists, mostly the US has delayed shipment dates for the quest 2. Most EU oculus sites or shops have an added 7 to 14 days at most of at all. Atleast as far I've found so far

With Quest 2 pass thru system you can draw 2 short false walls that angle in towards your chair like the flippers in a pinball machine leading to the drain..in this case your chair, but then go around behind the chair and even the whole back of the room putting it in the play area so there is no transition delay like the new experimental couch feature just released. as you approach chair you enter via one of the flippers so the pass thru vision turns on and you can see the chair as you turn and sit. I also put a pair of flippers at the opposite end of the room still oriented toward the chair so I know my orientation in the room but I make them thinner as They are just so I can reach out on either side of me and trigger the bounday to keep myself centered in play area. If you have a larger area I would recommend even a 3rd pair of flippers.
Hey Tyriel, I have those 2 feet foam puzzle mats for playing on while in socks for comfort playing long sessions and without shoes. It's like they were made for VR. Mine is a little thicker than the one you had and there is 6 of them with borders. That makes a 4 feet x 6 feet play area but I still make the boarder another foot out from it for arm reach but like you said you know when you step off of it. I still use a boarder but since I stay on the mat and my play area is big I hardly see the guardian come up. I was thinking of getting 3 more pieces to make it 6 feet x 6 feet so it would be a perfect square but what I have has been working so far and my room doesn't have that much space. It would be the best though to have 6x6 mat so you know where to stay in the boundary. Just make the guardian border 6.5'x6.5' like recommended and have some arm room to not hit things.
i use the prostraps from protube VR AND the protas from them too , the firsts permits to play like the mamut VR grips AND because of their complete compatibility with the magnetic protube cups, you can use them with the seconds to play seated, they are VERY usefull in a game like NMS where you play standing for exploration phases on foot and seated while piloting a ship. And you can use them also with all these games that not allow to use an HOTAS to have a far better precision and control in your ship/mecha ( like in Vox machinae for ex ). Using Kat loco for walking in place on your carpet makes you feel better immersed than ever and avoid motion sickness as you actually walk irl while ingame. You can add to your setup piloted fans like the Whirlwind Vortx that allow you to feel the wind , the temperature and the weather ingame , and also all these things that uses air displacement like explosions or such. An haptic vest like the M2 subpac can add more immersion too. I'm using all of these while playing NMS or The Solus project , and the immersion is at its summit ^^
Here are some more tips and thoughts: 1) Instead of using the regular VR covers use the slim version this will increase the field of view. But with the 3 different IPD adjustmends you might not want a bigger field of view because seeing the edges is distracting. Would be nice to have a test with the different covers and the different IPD Adjustments in the Quest 2. 2) A magnetic usb cable helps to protect the port if you are to imersed. I am not sure what the best cable is maybe someone has tested a few.

I've heard some bad things about the bioninks- I love how they look too, but I think some of the special made mini-cable headphones might be a better choice. You can find comparisons online and around UA-cam!

Supposedly they work with both Quest 1 and Quest 2. That's what the website says. I have a hard time believing they'll fit perfectly on the Quest 2 though given the larger handles. I would wait a couple months to see what's available then. That's my plan.
Do USB-C headphones work with the Quest 2 or is it just the headphone jack? My phone doesn't have the jack, so I tossed all my old ear buds. I have decent USB-C headphones.
I use an overhead fan and it also makes me feel more immersed into the game, especially walking dead because that game takes place outside. It’s almost like I can feel the breeze and the weather.
. .. and to make charging or sideloading more confortable you can use magnetic usb cables. That way you will not need to push and pull the c-type connector to the socket of the headset that might even wear it out after a while. Just be careful to look for a magnetic data cable and not only for a charger cable (if you need sideloading as well).

I have a wider ipd. What face cover do you recommend?

Bluetooth has horrible audio latency, I’m pretty sure it’s a no-go. I tried bluetooth headphones with the old GearVR and it was a stuttering shitshow.
No the OQ does not support bluetooth
at the moment you’ll find bluetooth settings under experimental features menu group
Remember to clean your lenses in a circular motion!

Just be careful to look for a magnetic data cable and not only for a charger cable (if you need sideloading as well).

Tyr, thanks for the video but i have a question about the covers. on the VR Cover website, they only appear to sell Quest 1 covers and their FAQ specifically states that the Quest 2 cover is different from the Quest 1 (even though they look similar). Do you know why their store does not link any Quest 2 products? Thanks in advance!
