And now, Sony has made the PS Classic. I'd still take this one though.
Agreed
Definitely
Rip offs 😂
@Spit Dragon Because it allows more games than the ps classic. Also the ps classic runs the pal versions of the games while on the rasberry you can use the superior ntsc version which runs faster
@@dahazelgen Surprisingly the Raspberry Pi 3b+ emulates psx games better then the Playstation classic
*came here looking for the price*
Shane: He couldn't sell this. That'd be illegal.
*my life is ruined*
Bruh it's not hard to make
I say get the raspberry pi itself. I got mine at target for about 90 bucks including tax. It had the shell, cables, board, and everything.
Maybe you can get a pandora’s box if you have enough money
it's actually not illegal to sell it, only illegal to sell the raspberry pi without a license.
the case it self would'n be illegal to sell
@@mr.osmosis5713 woah
7:40 It is not sped up. Actually it runs smoothly, SNES version hadn't run smoothly
doctorletsplay yep
What's with all the negative comments? It's a cool little project that he wanted to show off so what if it is just a case. It looks great and anyone who works with raspberry pi will for sure love this video. I just made a clone of the NES classic and yes it's also a case but so what it looks cool and cost way less than the real NES classic. I really wish I had that PS1 case because I can't find any online that look as good as this. The ones I find are too tall and look like shit.
People are assholes unfortunately 😣
Some of the reasons you are seeing framerate drops is because the Pi needs a heatsink, and fan to cool it down, and the system is thermal throttling to keep it from cooking itself to death, and he could sell the entire setup minus a preloaded SD card with the ROMS, and Retropi as there is nothing illegal about reselling the Pi, in a custom 3D printed case, and then he could just put up on a website the Retropi software, and scrips he wrote for it for download to an SD card, and give instructions on where to put the ROMS, but say you are on your own for finding said ROMS.
Now I'm hungry for a raspberry pie.
You're the last person i expected to see here lol
Now I wanna bake a raspberry pie 😂
Raspberry Pi *
Mmmm pie
xD

You gotta give em credit for also considering people without HDMI TV's
It's 2020, if you don't have a TV with HDMI input you're probably living in a cave.
@@hambone8820 you probably have an analogue tv 🙂
@@hambone8820 even in caves ppl already have HDMI TVs by now lol
"Isn't available publicly, you can not go out and buy these from someone"
Actually you can. There are companies producing pi cases shaped like various video game consoles, including the PlayStation.
Sony, just make a PlayStation Mini, I'd buy it
That makes two of us
ehh, just buy original PS3.. they're dirt cheap and you can play PS1 and PS2..
and obviously PS3..
and if you want to play pirated games there are also people selling pre-cracked PS3's online.
although the best option IMO is just emulation on PC..
the downside to that being you might have problems running
PS2 emulation on a potato alone...you need... more like, potato AND a rock!
It's called the PSP
RedFlameFox c'è la PSP 🌚
People, what's wrong with you?
I just want a mini PS1 with build-in games to bring me when I travel and plug it on a TV to play with, like the Nes Classic, but with PS1 games. :/
I mean, I already kind-of can do it with my PSTV with Henkaku on it, but still, PS1 emulation is not perfect there yet.
N64 has always been more difficult to emulate for some reason. On every device I emulate on, N64 never works as well as PS1.
That's because the N64 is a cutdown Version of the MIPS CPU that was found in highend Silicon Graphics Indigo workstation machines of the 90's, and the MIPS architecture in general is harder to emulate, then you add on top of that the N64 tied it's audio output directly to the CPU clock cycles, which no other game system I can think of ever did before, or since, so yeah it makes since why the N64 is harder to emulate then most other systems outside say the Saturn, or 3D0.
Second I saw SGI I realized why it doesn't work so well!
Does anyone know if this could run doom 64
Wouldn't using a PS3 controller be closer to the authentic experience than using a PS4 controller?
ReprovedReaper but i think the guy programmed it for only next gen controllers like XB1 and PS4
FRAZZdoesgames the guy didn't program shit, that's a raspberry pi and yes it can use any wireless controller.
A ps1 contoler with usb adapter
The ps3 can play ALL the Psone games, but we all know that we can not already buy ps1 games.
N64 has always been hit or miss in general which kinda sucks but once you do find an emulator and the correct roms to get shit going and dive into the video settings to ramp everything up then it's glorious. Plus the various texture packs you can apply which make the games look even nicer (Assuming you find the decent and complete ones)
I read it like Piss Station.. oops
....OH GOOD NOW THAT'S ALL I CAN SEE!
Father AxeKeeper lmfao
Rerez lmfao rerez
Father AxeKeeper omg lol

"Little side projects on the side for fun"
Reminds me of that profound lyric from the Van Halen song Why Can't This Be Love: "Only time will tell if we stand the test of time."
He made the guy a promo, put there some ads in the video and you cannot even complain about project being shit as it is 'only a sideproject' as it wasn't intended to be amazing.
*Nintendo 64* :Does Badly
*PSP* :I'm about to end this man's whole career.
Helpful little fact: Most of these emulators are Retroarch cores, which can be configured via the menu, which is accessed by holding Select (or whatever your "Hotkey" button is) and pressing whichever button is at the top of the button layout. For example, if you are using a Playstation controller, the button would be Triangle.
So basically he did nothing. Just the same old standard project (RaspberryPi with Retropie), in a super "exclusive" Playstation-like enclosure, made with the magical and absolutely unknown power of 3D printing. I'm so impressed.
***** The real hero is the guy behind the original Playstation model!
Yeah, I'm having a hard time finding why this is supposed to be special. I have a pi with games set up in a case already. It doesn't have a cool Playstation looking case, but other than that, I set it up myself. It wasn't hard.
Marco Mazzini and I'm sure you've made so many better things. just got one video of your dumb dog. well done sir.
My dog is so dumb that is actually a cat. Well played, mister. Just for your knowledge, I have put a Raspberry Pi Zero in a PS One shell, using the original controllers, but I have not made a video because it's not a so special thing, it's just the same old combo RPi-Retropie-unusual enclosure.
Good life.
Gmayor61 its just 3D printed.
I love these things. I think I've given about half a dozen away as gifts over the years. Retropie also works well as a media center since you can install and boot up Kodi inside of it.
I love these little builds so much I just ordered the parts to make one, went cheap though and got a pi Zero, wanted to make a handheld one eventually so I snagged a 5"screen for it. Adding buttons and an internal battery set up will be much more a challenge but its one I hope to conquer after the initial gamepad, micro usb wall powered version Ill initially start with.
I need this, old is gold and so are the memories of childhood
Thingiverse is filled with cases and projects like this for free. Made my own RetroPi handheld, it's a bit weird that Rerez is so hyped about this, it has been around for years.
It's not like he actually understands or actually cares, of course he would be impressed.
Could you upload a small video or picture of it( handheld) I’m making my own and I need ideas for the case.
Three years later. Nope
What is that kind of button called? It sounds like a stupid question, but I love the look/feel of them; they are somewhat like elevator buttons
Bulgin switch
Best button
Starfire Technology lll
Doesn't really have a name. You could try "vandal resistant" buttons like they use on intercoms outside buildings.
This is such a wonderful project. I really like how cute and compact the system works. Sure it isn't the greatest invention of all time, but hell! Sure it is cool!
I would LOVE having one of these if the price is affordable enough.
N64 emulation is still dodgy even on full PCs.
Brent Irwin The N64 was really a mess hardware wise. It's really telling seeing how easy it is to emulate everything before and after the N64.
Brent Irwin Project 64 runs Zelda just fine
Cuz what else would we play? N64 only had Zelda games....
Brent Irwin Zelda was considered the best looking game of all time back then, and it used the N64's hardware to its full potential. All the other games I've played on it (Gauntlet Legends, Super Smash, Goldeneye, Star Fox, etc) all work fine on it too. I was just using Zelda as an example
Best looking N64 game is probably Conker's Bad Fur Day IMO, it really did push the hardware to its potential; Beetle Adventure Racing did really well with draw distance/framerate also
"he likes to make a lot of side projects on the side"
WHICH SIDE
Wii + Raspberry Pi = Pii
Pretty sure you could use the Wii's SD Card reader, DVD drive and USB ports while removing the motherboard to make it useful for the Raspberry Pi otherwise.
Rakshasa I I luv me sum PiiPii from my WiiWii
Rakshasa PII U
Read pii
.....considering the wii can emulate everything the pi can and more, why not just use the wii?
I loved Downhill Jam growing up, one of the first video games I ever played. Glad to hear it runs so well on this console
The very last line of this video made my want to subscribe even that much more.
Its a good looking case, but it's still just a raspberry pi...
its not hard to set up at all though lol
seriously takes all of 10 minutes to set up an SD card with Emulation station for the raspberry pi and run a script for the on/off switch....
Geoffrey Martin nickname it PiNGAS
Bitelaserkhalif 555 please don't
This is better than the actual psx classic
4:51 what is that from? I haven't seen that screen either before, or for bloody ages... Looks like Metroid Fusion?
This is the most positive review I've heard from Rerez
Little side projects on the side for fun
I love when he says things like that.
5:40 Contra! All you need :)
Rasp is a must for retro players.
This looks so awesome
You can make the case bigger as necessary so two of the USB ports are covered up and run twoUSB extension cables from the covered up ports to a potential cut out where the controller ports are
lol when I first saw your shirt, I thought it was covered in dandruff
To be fair, does ANYTHING run the N64 well? Wii U emulation is more reliable than that thing.
My phone can emulate n64 games, even 007
Yeah, Project 64 for Windows runs N64 games pretty well
Wii u emulation doesn't work
@@CaptainKiruX lmao yes it does, Dolphin
Mupen64 works great on my tablet with 2GB ram. At least in Doom64 and Duke Nukem.
Awesome custom case!
I love emulators and that this is just cool! Awsome video and very well put together. Thanks! ^_^
THANKS FOR SHOWING TOMBA1 great game btw!
"They look great!" Rerez said while gameplay of an Atari 2600 game was in the background...
Huge props for the Magical Puzzle Popils plug. That was my #1 game when I was a kid. I still have elements of the soundtrack as my ringtone
Probably already brought up here before: The SNES emulation issue with Star Fox is actually a feature with the emulator ( if it's anything like my RPi3 system). It comes with a Super-FX overclocking setting. It defaults to a higher clock speed than normal.
Obviously this is this guy's first retropie experience.
Wake me up when it's raining twenty dollar bills outside please....
Thanks for the info, gretings from Mexico
I got a raspberry pi 3 b+ a while ago, and I barely used it because I had no idea how to emulate or make games. But thanks to this video, now I know.
Can it run Crisis 2?
Prince Goat Cheese this ain't Austin Evans
Dat Crysis doe
You mean ˝Dino Crisis˝?
Dildo crisis 7 you say?
Stuart French no dickhead crisis 4
I have built a tabletop Arcade Cabinet, which does the same things, but you can play games using Arcade controls.
am i the only one who play the intro over and over cause the sound is so cool
That's a dope Snatcher Poster in the back there
This has an Ethernet port? Nintendo, learn
Chanticleer's Abusive Manager IT'S NOT A GAMING CONSOLE.
+Simon “LlonkNomis” Knoll ? I think that's his point...this cheap home built crap has one, Nintendo take note and get with the program.
Chris Morse got it. Simon Knoll, like Nintendo, needs to learn how to think. ;)
Regular Old Plumbus For what do people use you Plumbus?
+RegularOldPlumbus I'm shocked you didn't say that Nintendo needs to die.
I thought it pronounce as "Pis-station"...
100% man.
I like the last frame, he looks so happy he could be put on advertisement.
HINT TO ALL: all the games settings are changeable like in StarFox the frame rate can be lowered also you can even emulate an old school tube television making your lcd sceen look curved look and have off set color or even interlaced lines. EVEN BETTER most popular the games include the ability to activate the cheats from game genie and etc...
Execpt for the case this is really easy to make-
Ah that's just a retropie with a case that looks like a ps1
keeping retro games alive 👍from me great video
Ooo I remember this!
Definitely saw in 2019
I have no problems running N64 games on my Raspberry Pi 3. You just need to set it up properly.
Do you have to use a particular RetroArch core or other emulator?
Its actually different for pretty much every game. Don't get me wrong there is some slow downs here and there but its not as bad as he makes it out to be. Also if your willing you can overclock the raspberry pi3 which helps alot.
That's cool. I figured those might be the two big things one would have to do for doing it on the Pi. It's honestly a shame N64 emulation isn't better, someone ought to fix that.
Ya honestly other then the PC the only other thing that does N64 emulation almost perfect is a modded original xbox. the Original xbox is knowen as the emulation king. It even does some emulation of certain things and certain games better then the PC.
Late to this party, but maybe you'll still find it useful. I think ETA PRIME here on youtube gives info on n64 on the raspberrypi, and it might be helpful to look up his videos.
Nintendo 64 emulation isn't really all that great on more powerful hardware, it does work, but it is far from perfect
nice vid I really like your channel. :)
I really want to build this
It looks awesome.
As far as I'm aware it's decent
Đức Anh Lê Nguyễn I made one, it's pretty damn impressive
7:57 I guess they never miss
Just stop it already, the meme is dead
I want this, this is awesome!
Pisstation! Sounds very catchy and very realistic!
I thought it was pronounced “Piss Station”. I’m both disappointed and delighted to have been incorrect 😂
Pi station: did you buy it
Me: yes
Pi station: what did it cause
Me: $100
I’m getting mine sometime this weekend! And making it.
I remember watching I think DIY perks video where he uses an acetone vapor bath to smooth out any imperfection on 3d printed plastic!
N64 emulation is never perfect
What is the game at 9:24!?
Xenogears on PS1
One of Squaresoft's best RPGs in my opinion,
freaking love that game. ^^
Eric Orlando Sandstorm by Darude.
Nice review. Great entertainment value. Cool item. 9 out of 10 paws.
How do you keep that pi cool inside that tight case? I would say 10min and it's at 70 degrees inside that case.
better than the PSC
nice work, but isn't this same as emulating roms with emulators on PC?
Doge yes
end my life Yes, but mainly without the keyboard and more exciting to have.
Yes, but on a small, customizable device you can plug into your TV like a real console.
shoutouts to the Tomba gameplay, no one seems to talk about that game
Love Magical Puzzle Poppils. It may not look great but it is a fantastic puzzle game.
I had no problem with Nintendo 64 emulation. I had gotten all of my ROMs off of Emuparadise.
That's where I get all my ROM's & Emulators from since it's the only site I know where they're virus free.
tim5fl i like it cus it has gamecube, wii and ps2 games
Really? I use love roms. Mostly because I cant d
if you are that worried download them in a virtual machine or a live linux distro. Voila no viruses
He probably used FREEROMS and downloaded the TOTALLY LEGIT AND USEFUL YAHOO SEARCH ENGINE EXTENSION.
Rerez Question 1: If Rerez was a system, what would he be named as?
Nintendo Switch
*& K N U C K L E S*
+Fixed Fun love the &a knuckles at the end even tho I don't get it.
i'm going to give a like to this only cuz a lot of thinking probably went into it :v
+Fixed Fun your comment has had more time than my own.
I also have this to. I love it to bits mine is 3D printed As a Super Nintendo
I want that entire ps1 library damnit. So many great jrpgs. Basically the best console for the best of those types of games...
Before watching vid: Great another bootleg and it’s name sounds like pee
After: oh never mind and neat
I just use my Ouya for emulation, it's pretty nice.
RubberDucky-Brett Geraerts do people really use the ouya? That thing is garbage.
Kit-Kat The Sneaky Rat
Shhhhhh...
seeing this makes me miss the tour or graphics 16. It's my favorite videogame system of all time when you get into the classic systems. There were several games that unfortunately I never got to play for the old TurboGrafx 16 because of them becoming hard to get a hold of. Was the first system where you can save your game Progress with some games and unfortunately a lot of consuls did not catch up to that idea till we get into PlayStation one. Imagine what things would have been like if Genesis and Nintendo 64 had the feature of saving your game where you left off so that you didn't have to constantly start over from scratch every time you started the game.
RPi doesn't mind being powered off by unplugging the power, but you can use the emulationstation main menu to shut down properly if you want.
Fun fact: N64 had more 3D capability than the PS1 which is why emulation sucks on N64 on most systems (Even some modern day computers and phones)
Poble he obviously didn't ;)
Mitchell Urgero ps1 was already development in 1992-1994, what's your point
React King to show that the N64 is inferior to PS1 when it comes to emulation? What are ya fuckin blind?
I want something like this but id be fine w/o the N64
Leonardo Huizar so don't play the N64 games then.
Leonardo Huizar There are three different N64 emulators included with Retropie. One of them is faster than the other two. Shane might be using a slower one. Also, you can overclock a RaspberryPi. A few presets are available that won't void your warranty when used.
Thats the idea... thanks Counselor Troy
Eh... wasnt a big N64 guy growing up. I cant think of anything on that console that im motivated to play. Alternatively i do want the GBA one cause ive had plenty of good memories with that.
To be fair the N64 had far, far fewer games than, say, the PSX. Like, PSX has about 5ish times more games than the N64
Omg I totally want a little Pisstation! I want one so bad I cant hold it in any longer!
my thoughts are that NES classic Mini that came out long time ago and they might been using Raspberry 3 card and Classic NES console with roms build-in
AH! I WANNA BUY ONE! AND I DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO BUILD ONE!
Bobby Blair Just buy a raspberry pi 3 ($35 usd) off of amazon. Then, make sure you have a monitor with hdmi cable, 5v 2.5 amp micro usb power supply (like those bricks from an iPad charger), and any wired or wireless(don’t matter) keyboard and mouse. You don’t need the case at all unless you want it to look cool. The button is just for turning it on and off, which can be done by shutting off the power(unplugging). Finally, get an 8 or more gigabyte micro as card + adapter for computer and look up how to install RetroPie onto the SD. Or, just look up how to install retropie onto a raspberry pi.
Bobby Blair if you have all the parts,
(Raspberry Pi 3, monitor or tv+hdmi cable, keyboard + mouse, 5v 2.5amp power supply, controller (keyboard +mouse works fine), and an sd card)
This can be put together in a few hours.
Thats a lot of dandruff lol jk
Terminathan I have the same problem. 😩
What is dandruff
Hahaha ewww
Holy shit, I never see Poppils ever get love. I was the kid at my school that had a game gear and I loved that game. Had an amazing level editing system I would spend hours on
0:10 I Love doing little side projects on the side
so it's a retropi in a shitty playstation mini case.
Got it.
Its actually retropie!
It's actually a fork of RetroArch made for Raspberry Pi!
Get a fucking life and get recalbox
Sue $ony for ripping off your idea! /s
Hi, gotta say at 8:17, I got so distracted I forgot the title, so wanted to see PS1 emulation.
RetroArch + iPad = all your retro needs.
