I saw this going over the Arnside Viaduct on 14 June just a chance sighting. It was later I found out it was going to be used on the Lakeside Line to get some sort of service going. We were on holiday in the area at the time.
Just pure brilliance by west coast railway 👍🏻 Well turned out locomotives too 😊 I go on day’s out with the railway touring company using west coast stock and they always do a good turn 👍🏻
The trains ran with the headcodes 2Z01-2Z12 and the headcode box was altered accordingly, however due to the different trips I was filming at the different times of day and the way I have edited them, they are rather sporadic.
This is a great service but if you try to book the train tickets via national rail. The train doesn't exist. Is this Northern Fail blocking it in favour of the bus.

Excellent video, Alex. Nicely edited and a great choice of locations.
Thanks Kyle, I'm glad you like it!
With trains like this, West Coast Railways can run this service forever as far as I am concerned!

super, perhaps west coast railways should run the line permenantly :)
Somebody was having fun with the headcode blinds on the '33'. They kept going up and down!

Alex, I didn't tie in the blind codes to the train codes. It all is quite logical now.
Great Video :)
Thank you!
Do you know how long they will be here?
I believe Northern resumed on July 2nd/3rd.
How come Northern Rail don't have any staff to run trains on the Lakes Line but a Heritage Company does?
My apologies, I later learned this was due to a timetable row.
Is this the furthest North that a Cl.33 has ever worked in ‘Revenue Earning’ Service?
Almost definitely!
Probably more comfortable than the regular trains
Definitely more comfortable.
Massive!
is this the only mainline certified class 33
As far as I am aware, there are two more.
ok both WCR
No, one is in BR Two-Tone Green based on the Swanage Railway.

That's correct, they're jealous of WCRC's publicity and will advertise their own bus services instead.
This line should have been electrified.
It was supposed to be, but was cancelled by the DfT.
That just shows that so few politicians really understand the requirements of public transport. (edited for
