Thanks for this video! I had ryobi which had a lot vibration, took it apart and turned the bearing or the housing which holds the clutch drum had a lot of movement, swapped with another good one and good to go!
Fixing up my Girl friends weedeater and after fixing the driveshaft cable. I seen the head was bolted off center. Its got a slotted hole so it can be moved slightly one way or other. And its all the way to one side. And when using it you can see the head down there looks like its wobbling. The more it wobbles the worse the vibration gets so I'm check that out first then go thru all the other stuff you mentioned.
@@VintageEngineRepairs for sure centering it fixed the issue but after finishing around the house, the weedeater started bogging down on me until it shut off. But it started right back up. The spark plug was super black before I ever started it and now its light gray and was running really hot temperture wise. Let her cool down and started weedeating again and as I was finishing up it started bogging down on me. Haven't check the spark plug again yet but it was running really warm. But it couldn't be too lean because I was using it in about 30 minute intervals before any issues. And it was 90 degrees (32 celisus) out dead middle of summer. The thing sat for about 3 to 5 years maybe the carb is dirty not sure.
I got this same exact trimmer. Brand spanking new, literally had this issue during my second time running it. I only use it for my own yard which takes maybe 15 minutes to trim everything. Has anyone heard of it knocking and shaking brand new? I swear it seems like even stihls quality is going down or maybe I just got a lemon out of the bunch.
The fs55 is a flexible shaft, therefore you’ll always get some vibration. In my experience some are worse than others. If it’s new, consider going back to the shop, explain the problem and request a lighter head on it. That will solve 98% of that vibration in that quick fix. The auto feed heads are heavy and cause a lot of bound up energy that gets released causing all this vibration!
I’m not too sure! I highly recommend checking everything else I mentioned as this isn’t a fix for every instance. Best to google search for the ipl and then methodically work through your strimmer and see what you find.
Great Detective work Tom! I've had a few like that and would chase the tune-up, head, etc. Thanks Mate!
Thanks Kenny! Glad you enjoyed it mate :)
New liner made a huge difference, nice one
Thanks Al!

Great job! :)
Nice easy fix. Most of the owners dont do servicing.
Quite right and honestly I don’t begrudge them. If I didn’t have an interest in engines I wouldn’t service it myself. I’d let someone else do it!
Great fix Tom, strimmers i have don't have linings so first time seeing that 👍
Cool Nev! We learn something new every day :)
Cleared it right up Tom but it almost looked as if the shaft had tree dents on it. 🙂👍
Thanks mate!! Not sure what you mean? No worries, thanks for watching :)
🤣🤣🤣
I would have never figured that one Tom awesome !
Thanks mate :)

Yes :) make sure the head is tight and that may just fix your issue!

Hmmm, it sounds like ignition coil mate
i just bought a new one and does that! Is it possible for new one for doing that kind of vibration?
It is, it’s not ideal, but because they’re a flex shaft rather than solid they do have more vibration than other models!
@@VintageEngineRepairs yea, i guess so! Is solid mehanism used in high level models?
@@sasemirevski yes correct :)
Not many people know about that liner. Good one!
Thanks Jim!
Great video where did you find this part and what is the part number? Thanks!
If you google Stihl fs55 flex tube liner it will come up, I’m afraid I don’t have the PN!
@@VintageEngineRepairs Alright Thank You sir!

Sayla doesn't get into your head that easily. You didn't capture every detail in the video
