  • Here are my initial impressions of the Diawa Emcast LT BR (bite n' Run) 3000 spinning reel I just bought. It is a nice compact bait feeder reel that fits very nicely on a 7' rod Overall, great reel for $99! Seems pretty durable from what I see and it comes with a spare spool. I intend to use this thing for close distance fishing for Bass, Carp, trout, Pickerel. For the quality and price of the reel it's going to be hard to beat.
    ignore: Shimano baitrunner

Thank you for demonstrating the sound of the drag. Most baitrunner reel reviews I've seen fail to mention that. Clicker volume is an important feature in my opinion. Thanks for the info.

A lot of people complain about the clicker on daiwa reels being too quiet.... All you have to do is bend out and manipulate the clicker leaf spring to dramatically change the sound...

Some people don't want to do that to a new reel even though it is easy to do. Me personally, will adjust a new reel for sound, but I too would prefer just to have a reel out of the box that has a good sound to it. I think especially a bait runner should be nice and loud. This emcast has that. The blackwidows are very quiet when you get a run and I had to adjust the spring a use a thinner layer of oil to get the sound I wanted.

@@P8intballEvans For a standard spinning reel, sure. Not quite that simple with this one. This is a baitrunner reel with a separate secondary drag mechanism and clicker located in the gear box, different from the clicker in the spool. I'm pretty mechanically inclined, but I'm not going to mess with the mechanisms in that gear box, less I have hours and hours to spend putting humpty dumpty back together again.

It’s a great little reel, my little brother used it for all types of fishing. He caught some good sized catfish on it
