You guys gotta get together with the smoking tire for a podcast. Id love to see you guys on there! They always talk about how important rally fundamentals play into going fast. (Weight transfer!) hit them up!
Watching Block do it a couple of things seem obvious to me. First, his car had more power. Second, he seems to be using the inertia of the entry in tension with the engine putting enough power to the wheels to keep them spinning. So in this stock Subie you have to compensate with a much more complicated set of inputs.
I'm wondering if the wet spot made it harder because you were initiating the drift on dry pavement, then losing grip through the wet spot mid-corner... it might have been easier if the whole section from start to finish was wet to avoid having changing grip levels.
That's awesome! Look at the barrel only long enough to remember where it is, and then put your eyes on where you want to end up. Kind of like shooting a gun, you don't want to look at the sight. You want to look at the target.
Agree. Everyone obsessed with STi drivetrain swaps but the VB handing 400+hp and 400+tq no problem, and doing AWD drifts no problem. Win win win Subaru
@@mediocreman2 i think it's still on the stock tires, and seeing how much abuse this car's gone through, then there's no surprise it's understeering now.
Seems like you have to be aggressive and fast to get it to slide properly. Alt more intense than driving rwd. I feel like 600 hp done correctly would work alote better.
If I wanted Ken to spin in his grave I too would have picked a stock subie to do the very things entirely antithetical to its entire engineering philosophy
Keep up with this series!! Maybe a full gymkhanan course….👀
This is an amazing series.
You got me wanting to try this in my 2017 wrx
This is great work lads, I'm busy clutching and reving on my couch 😂! Can't wait for the finale when you put it all together!
Good stuff Team O'Neil 👍😎✌️
Glad you enjoyed it

Well done gents!

I'm laughing so hard right now. well done boys.
A gravel series would be fun as well
I always see people comparing this new wrx to the last generation sti in terms of handling. seems pretty good to me

I don't know the differences in handling, but I know that thing understeered like crazy in this video.

It's alot easier in the sti because you can control the center diff to where you want the power I don't think the wrx has that option
Did you wet the surface to aid drift.
We did, it helped a little, but it dried up quickly.
Drifting an awd car on asphalt like that is crazy
Yeah, I think that's why they put some water down to assist.
Wdym they do it in rally all the time
After all is said and done, I'd love a mechanical evaluation of the car :)
Initial D series next? 🤔😁 drift with cup of water, gum tape death time trial? 😂
I spy with my little eye a sour skittle pack
this is great ! get more time tio dial it up next time !!
I know I can, so I know you can.

How is that car still in one piece?
right?
Probably a testament to how good the VB actually is when it comes to fucking around
You guys need a GR corolla with some LSDs lol
