We're spoiled up north during the winter. We continually see 1000+ fpm climbs in loaded C172s when it's really cold. Sadly, it easily swings below 500 fpm during the summer when it's over 90F and humid.
Loved the view of the airliner taking off just below you, wonderful, also the view of the terminal. Don't blame you for fling in that freezing soup. Glad to see you do not have "Get there Itis". Not worth it, there is always another day. :-)) Also loved the views of the space launch pad. The more I see of your new plane the more I like it. Can't remember if you named it or not. Take care up there Niko.
Niko I love your Cirrus SR22T and yes it's been cold here in the Northeast also and flying along side you is truly a blessing because I'm learning how easy if is to become a IFR rated by listening and watching you step but step . Staying ahead of your Aircraft and knowing the proper ATC communication skills and having the right tools to use as a Single pilot makes things happen very fast and knowing who you are what you want to do a where you are going at all times during your flight and you make it happen very professionally.
Great trip Niko. My home was Nashville and it was good to see it again. Good icing flying, x-winds and the rest. Really enjoy your videos. Keep them coming.
Wish I could change my ambient temperature like that! It's getting better up here - the single digit days are behind us, thank God! In the upper 40's(F) and raining today, but should be in the 60's tomorrow. Beach weather, lol! Love your ability to zoom in the camera with such amazing clarity! That was great! Looked like some pretty big fires along your way down there. Thanks for sharing - always a great flight, Niko! 👍👍
Niko, I’d love to be in the nice Florida air right now! This has been one of the worst winters I remember up here in South Dakota! Thank you for another great video!
Unfortunately Niko, this is the winter that refuses to leave. The skies looked so at ease but the devil was in the details. Icing, strong winds, and very cold. Rather than save your wallet, you respected your jet. I can imagine the effects of negative temps on your new plane. It’s always best to be safe than sorry. Your lower 48 might take longer than you planned but safety is what’s most important. Looking for to wherever you will be next.
wow, Man, Couldn't wait for another video from you. It was incredible, so inspirational. I hope to one day meet you fly with you. I'm from Chicago, IL.
Another fantastic video love the thought process that went into when to leave and sharing that with us maybe another pilot watching your video will make a better choice love the landing in Gwinnett. You are very skilled pilot in a wonderful positive role model for general aviation pilots everywhere Cirrus should reach out to you because of that... You are the right kind of person to own their aircraft thanks for sharing with us I appreciate you
Thanks Niko. Another great video of real world decisions based upon Wx and conditions. Just flew around ORD last week in a super Xc from MKE to MMU in NJ. Was a great trip and enjoy picking up tips from your videos before I fly. Cheers brother!
Very nice video. Thanks for posting! I'm an ex-sabena OPS worker. I grew up in Congo till my 17y and I hate the cold weather here in Belgium. Happy landings!

Great video Niko! Better to bug out on bad weather, especially icing, than try to press on. Great choreography as well with your videos. When will we see flight levels? Get that turbo up there. 😊
KLZU... Eating lunch at The Flying Machine. Great place to eat out on the ramp. Good food. Good people. Nice to see you stopping there. I try to take the family there whenever I can.
Awesome Nikon!! The control burn you flew over...I live just to the south of that. DNR was doing a control burn of the Piedmont National Forest. Doubt I could have seen you fly over as it was pretty smokey that day and several days afterwards .
Nice video. Man you looked hyper focussed on that middle landing. That first climbout was crazy fast. I notice it here in norway as well, when it is like -35 the car is a lot quicker then when at +25. Cold air really makes a ton of difference.
5F, flew in a few of those this winter, unheated hanger, numb fingers at the end of the preflight, no heat until after take off. Fun stuff, reason I'm becoming a snow bird.
Ailerons. Did you get a PIREP regarding the ailerons? Check the bolts and make sure the locking (?) Wire is on it. This was for 2 type of aircraft, Cirrus 22 being one of them. Just a heads up.
Nice shirt! (when you landed at Boca). "Warm Florida air!" Lol I was wondering how much difference in temperature there was. Long live General Aviation!
Great video, as always! You say you fly for business... That sure is a lot of travel! Would you mind sharing what kind of a business you run that requires you to travel so much?
Generally speaking, only one controller at a time has authority to make modifications to your flight plan. This authority (handoff) gets transferred before you switch frequency. Around the 7 minute mark the controller had already transferred you to the next facility when you made your request. Typically, he would have had to get on the phone and told the next controller what you wanted and the next controller would have had to do the computer entry (cancelling/switching to VFR). He probably was busy and wanted to avoid that call. When you checked in on the new freq the controller saw you as IFR on his scope although you announced you were VFR, thus the questions.
@@NikosWings I am based in Peoria KPIA. N190DW is in annual at Van Bortel in Texas for another week. If you are coming through let me know we can take it up. I am VFR but working on my instrument. Keep up the great videos! Bill

Hey Niko, Nico here. I was wondering if your ipad has a cellular connection? What App do you use to write down your clearances? Greetings from The Netherlands :D
Hi Nico, I use ForeFlight, it’s very popular in the US and they are up and coming in Europe with their latest release. My iPad has cellular data so I connect all the way to 9,000 feet. But regardless, it receives AHRS data from my panel.
Your videos are great. Please keep your videos simple and beautiful like this .. other UA-cam aviators are putting lots advertisements everywhere in their videos.. I like your videos because your videos are not commercialized like others out there.
Niko: I’ll soon be entering an order for a model like yours. It will be my first turbo and, with that, figure I’ll have to spend a lot more time on oxygen than in my Mooney to get the speed benefit. But it seems you tend to remain below 14K. How come? Aren’t you surrendering 20 to 30 knots in cruise speed?
Higher is faster but if the winds are not favorable there is no point to go higher, you just use oxygen and add another difficulty element for no practical reason. For example, if your headwind is 10 knots at 10K feet but 30 knots at 20K feet, you will gain 20-25 knots air speed but lose 20 knots ground speed so you get a net gain of 5 knots, burn the same amount of fuel but expose yourself to the risks of hypoxia. And now you will be using oxygen for no apparent reason. Now, if you have a tail wind, or if the headwind turns into a tailwind higher, then by all means, higher is better. You will soon see an episode where I flew back from NW Arkansas 1,000nm non-stop to Boca at 23-24K with oxygen mask. I had a 65knot tailwind and took full advantage of it.
Sometime when you’re coming through this are which is Southwestern Ohio. I would appreciate it if you would make a stop in Hamilton Ohio airport is HAO. I will make sure that I come out there and see you and that beautiful aircraft you fly
