Great video! you mentioned 5:40 that only euro spec got v8's. Actually US spec got the 380sl 450sl 420sl 300sl and lastly the 560sl (which is actually a bigger engine then what the euro had) these were all V8's 3.8 liter 4.5 liter 5.6 liter. However euro had less strict emissions so a bit more power but later 500sl's 86-89 were also affected a bit by emissions. Not to disrespect euro models whatsoever just informing you that USA and EURO spec both had V8's just us spec had stricter emissions so the intake and exhaust manifolds restricted airflow to meet the standards.
What I wanted to say was the fact that US specs with 6 cylinder engines are cheaper than US Specs with V8. Apart from that you're utterly all right. Well, the history of export policies of that time are really interesting. Thank you very much for kind words Stephan 😉
@@Classyque the 300sl which was the 6 cylinder was only sold in europe as a more fuel efficient and smoother handling model. check out the wikipedia.

The taillights are probably mostly for snow. The inner "wall surface" would almost always stay at least partly clear.
Right, that may be also right! But the question is who uses a convertible car during winter?

The rear deck scoop is for the discerning few, I find it visually distracting because of its black colour. Given the opportunity to own this beautiful R107 model, I think I'd opt for the 450SLC hardtop coupé.
