I agree. I feel like the current iteration of the Kraken boss doesn't make much sense. How did they get a gigantic creature like him into that tiny little cave, and why? Just a thought, Pirates of the Caribbean 2 is a great example of how to do a Kraken fight right. Kraken myths have always been about ships being lost at sea. This is the perfect opportunity to give a refresh to that old boss, or better, to create a more lucrative, non-AFK alternative. Maybe it's a group boss, even.
Would be nice to revamp older quests! There's clear room in quests like bone voyage that could use a different sailing mechanic. I'd say DS1 too, but as an F2P quest it may not work.
I hope they will add some form of PvP activity with Sailing in the wilderness. Imagine a port where everyone can get together and fight eachother as pirates
I know it's not technically sailing, but it would be cool if the skill was opened up to inland waterways like lakes [future content/Molch] and rivers for canoeing and rafting to teach early game mechanics of movement. The current waterways are probably too tight for that, but it might make for interesting content for future regions/region additions. Barracuda trials canoeing through the toxic wastes or similar.
@@garrettkarow5924 Probably yeah. Ducks are cute but even Jagex knows most of us would think it's pretty lame to follow a duck in our badass maxed out battleship.

One thing that concerns me is that the sea between the mainland and e.g. Karamja or other islands is pretty narrow. There’s not much sea to sail through, so I kind of expect some areas to be crammed with boats, considering how large they are, and it would feel more natural to have the ocean areas of the map expanded. But I think that’s not open for debate. Also, what are the plans on how to restrict access to quest related areas, like the Fremmenik Isles? Will the game just tell you „these guys won’t let you come ashore here.“?
I hope that after all this dev time, this will end up as great content. Hopefully, we will also get a possibility of increasing our bank size or some way to store the new stuff on our boat
I think it’s important to have activities which belong to other skills give xp in those skills even if they’re done on a boat. Giving sailing xp for all combat, thievery, etc. will make sailing have less of a core identity than any other skill if that happens.
I've got to say that this new skill has a very old school vibe. Kudos to the devs for, in the era of modern streamlined theme park mmos, having a restraint that has created that classic mmo vibe in this skill.
Multi skill stuff seems to me like the best way to add more content! Farming underwater for mermaids, slaying large sea monsters for slayer, piracy to train thieving, maybe a super large ship that is static at port as a new agility course (goal is to steal stuff too maybe like stealing creations), island expeditions like hunter rumors could be great ways to do combat and resource gathering like woodcutting, mining, herblore, crafting could come from new shell jewelry and fletching could be making new crossbow/ballista bolts for mounted weapons on the ship
@ I like that too I was just thinking we have rooftop courses in every continent now so maybe a huge sailing ship themed one would be a cool thing to see and actually interact with if you’re not a fan of actually sailing

I like everything except 2 things 1 I find the "current duck" to be vert strange. I am not against following an npc but a duck feels strange. Suggestion how about npc ships that we follow. 2 The notice board looks over designed/detailed. I just think there is way too much going on with the board to the point where it looks very out of place to the point where it's clear it wasn't there originally.
I wanna see RAIDS 4 underwater, going into a typhoon or whirlpool and mysteriously ending up in some Marianas trench type thing while fighting legendary creatures in there and unlocking a megarare item like a shield equivalent to scythe / tbow / tumeken
So, with the implementation of Sailing, does this mean that all ports are getting expanded? I'd love to see a medieval fantasy shipyard as they should be larger than a fishing dock lol. You could keep within the osrs look and expand the ports out more into the ocean instead of changing the actual location too since the actual sailing is instanced.
You guys have done a great job on this so far! I'm definitely excited for the skill, but I'm glad Jagex is taking the time to really flesh out the skill and make sure it is implemented correctly. I look forward to the final product.
Eventually you should be able to sail to islands that you can get off the boat and actually walk around on. Maybe some unique bossing or mobs to go along with it. Would also be a fun place to hangout with other players
Overall the skill is starting to look pretty dang fun, however I'm a bit worried about the daily port tasks. I wouldn't want to have to wait for a certain day to train effectively
It would be cool if there were flocks of birds sitting on the water at sea meaning there was a big fish, or many fish gathered in an area. Could be a cool way for increased fishing xp or other unique fishing opportunities. Or following npc shimp boats yields in increased catches for fishing, similar to real offshore fishing phenomenoms.
Anyone who thinks this skill doesn't belong, have forgotten what game they're playing. This is EXACTLY what the game needs to really push itself into a modern age while keeping the core gameplay.
i would like to see an expansion of all non cb, or all skill increases to a level of 109, it gives the development team a reason for maxed players to do this new skill, more room for quests and more content that’s not involved with sailing.
It's got nothing to do with travel. I don't know why I am saying this because it's been said 1000 times and it obvious. So much of sailing is unrelated to getting to a destination. Are you trolling or do you generally not understand? lol

lol no they haven't, this is just all the awful ideas the internet had smashed together into one boring and unneeded skill.
@@atrozzorta9602 "boring and unneeded skill" so basically half the current existing skills? This looks way more fun than training mining or fishing to 99..
@@wunder_Jamso because we already have dreadful awful skills to train we should add more? This looks tedious at best. As new content it looks fun. As a new skill it looks horrendous
@@123payattentioni always thought the appeal of RS was its tediousness and repetitiveness
I like everything except 2 things
1 I find the "current duck" to be vert strange. I am not against following an npc but a duck feels strange. Suggestion how about npc ships that we follow.
2 The notice board looks over designed/detailed. I just think there is way too much going on with the board to the point where it looks very out of place to the point where it's clear it wasn't there originally.
Best progress update so far. Really helps me to see your vision for the skill
So odd , just bring in summoning or invention, so we can deplete so many items out of the game.
This community doesn’t care about the good parts of summoning because they are somehow stuck in 2007 but want rs3 updates at the same time.
I wanna see RAIDS 4 underwater, going into a typhoon or whirlpool and mysteriously ending up in some Marianas trench type thing while fighting legendary creatures in there and unlocking a megarare item like a shield equivalent to scythe / tbow / tumeken
DISCLAIMER: video is a placeholder
Cannot help but wonder how fleshed out navigation is, since a lot of this skill will involve that being fun.
Oh boy a new skill that should just be a minigame rip everyone’s max cape
yep
oh no, I played 5000 hours for my max cape now I have to play 100 more
Yall still have a max cape why are you crying
So, with the implementation of Sailing, does this mean that all ports are getting expanded? I'd love to see a medieval fantasy shipyard as they should be larger than a fishing dock lol. You could keep within the osrs look and expand the ports out more into the ocean instead of changing the actual location too since the actual sailing is instanced.
You guys have done a great job on this so far! I'm definitely excited for the skill, but I'm glad Jagex is taking the time to really flesh out the skill and make sure it is implemented correctly. I look forward to the final product.
You guys didn't touch on how this pairs with other skills such as woodcutting and fishing.
This skills looks as useful as fire making and as fun as agility.
Eventually you should be able to sail to islands that you can get off the boat and actually walk around on. Maybe some unique bossing or mobs to go along with it.
Would also be a fun place to hangout with other players
this is how they give us the fremmy raid up on that frozen island nobody inhabits
Here be sailing.
should've been an OG skill like dungeoneering or summoning; sailing will be a disaster at launch
My 30's are all I got left why would I waste it sailing in osrs?
why do you even play runescape?
very true fellow human. After 39, we all perish abruptly.
Well your 30’s are your last chance irl, don’t give up.
what an ignorant comment XD
Hoping they use a slayer like mechanism for tasks rather than introducing dailyscape
THIS SOUNDS LIKE SUCH A NPC SKILL
Looking good. Raids 4 on an island ye?
I had to look at my calendar I thought this was a April fools joke
Is this the final product? I couldn't tell
Overall the skill is starting to look pretty dang fun, however I'm a bit worried about the daily port tasks. I wouldn't want to have to wait for a certain day to train effectively
Probably that part will be something like Farming has trees that you plant and wait. You basically do it daily, like you will port tasks later
Farming ia already dailyscape, but I kind of agree with you. Need to be careful about it
It would be cool if there were flocks of birds sitting on the water at sea meaning there was a big fish, or many fish gathered in an area.
Have a mechanic where the longer you're at sea, you'll need to eat/drink certain foods to prevent/heal damage/effects
crazy how you guys remove all negative comments on youtube compared vs twitter
i would like to see an expansion of all non cb, or all skill increases to a level of 109, it gives the development team a reason for maxed players to do this new skill, more room for quests and more content that’s not involved with sailing.
Whats the point of this skill when you can already tele all over the map
Well, if you watch the video, it seems the point of the skill is to explore the sea, not the land…..
It's got nothing to do with travel. I don't know why I am saying this because it's been said 1000 times and it obvious. So much of sailing is unrelated to getting to a destination.
Are you trolling or do you generally not understand? lol
@@lampisfun1139well but the sea is empty and the point of sailing is to discover new unknown lands
Ikr.. what is the point of agility when we can tele all over the map
@@TRGantzacting like agility isn't one of the least popular and most hated skills in the game with almost no content and application for it's use. And sailing will be agility 2.0
Ima be the first IronSailsman
can we skip this skill and bring back summoning ???
Man I miss pirates of the Caribbean online they knew what they were doing.
can we get a re vote on the skill introduced into the game since WRATHMAW GOT ONE????
They repolled wratmaw? Did it pass as a wildy world boss?
You can probably use your brain to figure out why content deemed good enough to pass doesn't need a repoll vs content that needed work.
