Exactly. Had an asus zenbook couple of years ago and boy did that laptop give me a hard time. Always overheats and then turns off. Was on an island for a year and stuck with that laptop. Told myself can no longer trust asus laptops. Will be going lenovo this time around.

I am using an Asus B5 13.3in Oled and thought it's fanless😂 - it's quiet enough. Using it on my lap most times and never thought of the heat because never felt it ! 😜

The MacBook Air has more performance, better battery life, and it’s more solidly built. Help me report the bots!
Depends on what you use it for, the i7 1355u outperforms the MacBook airs m2 in cinebench tests, yes it's more poverhungry but the battery is bigger on the Asus, it's cheaper, the SSD is faster and upgradable, the Mac air performs a bit better in video editing but not with the Adobe software family, so like mentioned, it depends what you use it for.

Thing is, this will thermal throttle constantly and heat up a ton even when charging. The Macbook is so power efficient and generally efficient it wont heat up as much doing similar work

It’s nice, but I won’t be using it. USB-C pass through charging is still the way to go for thin laptops. Charge and project at the same with just 1 cable is awesome.

@@skydivenext there are monitors nowadays with built in usb c ports that actually supports high wattage charging and projection. No need for adaptors or HDMI cables. Far more convenient than using charging and HDMI ports separately.

@@skydivenext another alternative for that will be a usb hub capable of usb c charging and supports HDMI port at the same time. Most modern laptops support usb c charging anyway, so i find HDMI port a waste of space.
It is light because the materials are horrible. I was deciding between this asus and a macbook and i tell you i went for the macbook because of so many reason but mainly because the built quality on the asus for it’s price is horrible. The keyboard is ok but the trackpad that is something you really cannot even describe without trying it on your own. So cheap and useless

People buy laptops for performance. These are not vegetables to compare laptops primarily based on weight and outer appearance. Anything can be made thin and light if inside is empty (eg: if design is not done carefully it can impact performance, specially considering windows is not lightweight OS and ultra slim laptops don’t have fans usually). Please show us benchmark reviews if your intention is not to clickbait with “apple” UA-cam keyword indexing. :)

@@mikeraptorh6888 honestly if you really need something specific, that you can only use on a windows pc, then you probably need something beefier than a ultra light laptop anyways... people buy macbook air's for office work (text writing, browsing, emails), consuming media content (youtube, netflix, ..) and maybe some very light creative work (photoediting, programming, videoedit, ...) - anything more advanced than that, where you actually need a windows pc (for instance game development) you definitely wont do on an ultra light laptop

I'm interested in the Macbook for my first Mac laptop. I've gotten tired of Windows laptops running well for 2 years then developing issues. All that's holding me back is the ugly notch and ridiculous RAM/SSD upgrade prices.

Consumers look at that and think "wow, I need a paper thin laptop" when in reality if its running windows 11 you want it to not sound like a jet engine burning your lap when you load up chrome. Laptops need to be thicker for more ventilation, I wouldn't mind a slab of a PC if it performed well

So done with Asus tbh. I've had 2 laptops from them. Did not last long.
I would recommend Samsung laptops, mine lasted for quite a lot of time. If it does break, it is also self-repairable and has a warranty.

You probably don't care but the ZenBook is built with magnesium and aluminum. (Magnesium has a higher specific strength and lower density of 1.74g/cm3 vs 2.7g/cm3 compared to al but is substantially more expensive) so that gets used in the subframe, the external chassis is aluminum.
As for power draw, it's more or less the same, the MacBook is obviously more efficient though.
