I've used my RM1 heavily since 2019 and just got myself a RMPP. This tablet certainly isn't for everyone, but as a heavy note-taker, I just love it! I have used it almost daily for 5 years, so the investment was worth it. I work as a counsellor and solopreneur. The RM has improved my workflow and reduced paperwork and clutter SO MUCH. HOWEVER, this is a very niche-y device. But to be honest, I actually appreciate the “offline” feel the RM gives me, precisely because I can't use it to browse... I use my laptop and phone for that. I also enjoy the feel and sound of it (yes, it sounds like paper), which is a nice bonus.
Some of these comments are why these devices should be sent to eink influencers rather than general tech. If you can’t see the benefits of using eink over an iPad for writing and reading, then don’t bother watching a video on an eink device.
the problem is the price. obviously it has functional uses, it’s just way too expensive to justify using it over a cheaper tablet, or even just a plain notebook. just because something has benefits does not mean those benefits are worth it to everyone. if it’s worth it to you, cool, spend the $650, but don’t act like the people with criticisms of the product are dumb and simply “cant see the benefits”.
Your computer, phone, and laptop all have modes in which you can set so you don't receive any notifications to stop distracting you. So if you can't focus that way then you won't keep your phone in your pocket while using this device. I understand not everyone is the same but that's just my personal opinion.
@@mapoweyYou’re missing the point. There is a thriving community of eink enthusiasts that would do a million times better job at doing justice to this product. This guy clearly doesn’t get it and is just ticking things off from a script. It’s a bit frustrating to those of us that are interested and have been waiting a long time for this that we have these awful paid shilling jobs before people who are actually interested in eink can get hold of a device and do a proper review.
eink influencers? Is this a thing? Why you sound so snobby? You will not change people's opinion on a device they don't need/want. Just let them have fun watching their favorite UA-camr. I got interested in eink simply because my interaction with devices got me thinking. That's not for everyone. Relax and enjoy the show.
Creators in that niche would no doubt know how to speak to those who'd benefit from these. That said, i get why remarkable would reach out outside that space. They want to grow their market as much as possible, and that sometimes means more exposure to those who simply don't see the value in their products in the hope of converting a few more into sales.
Same here! Remarkable 2 has been awesome! I use it all the time. An endless supply of paper as well as the ability to file in folders. Great use for college. The ability to store in Google docs for offline backup as well to share. I also telework so it saves on the amount of paper I have to use. Great to use for Adobe files where I need to complete forms. No longer need to print forms.
Just ordered mine the other day. I've always hated writing on my iPad with the Paperlike screen protector. In no way does it feel like paper IMO. But one of my classmates had one of these and the second I started writing it felt 5-10x better than my iPad. Probably going to get rid of the iPad and buy the Microsoft Surface Pro 11 so I'll have a full functioning laptop replacement / tablet. I feel like that setup with the Remarkable Paper Pro is the best setup for students. But I know all the Apple users will stick with MacBooks and iPads.
Man, I totally get the hype around tech gadgets like the Remarkable Pro. They look sleek and give you that temporary boost of excitement, like you just unlocked a productivity cheat code. But let’s be real, it’s just another form of procrastination. We tell ourselves this new tool will make us more productive, but after a month, it’s just another thing we get used to-classic hedonic treadmill. At the end of the day, it’s not the $600 device that’s going to do the work for us, it’s just putting in the time. Gotta resist the mental trap!
I’m a warehouse manager and shipping manager. I bought the remarkable 2 about a year ago because I always lose notes in my notebook. With it I can look up a word and it will bring up anything with that word or phrase. I can wait to buy this, it helps me so much! If you hate tech. stop watching tech reviews!
Seems to me it's just an unboxing...NOT a proper "review". And...perhaps the use case was so simple that the guy didn't feel a further in-depth was necessary. Maybe.
I hate that I have to one without color. sign and the reading light would help. THis already seems like a true upgrade and we are one minute in the video.
I bought a writing tablet a couple years ago and really like the concept. There is one huge issue that all of these companies keep ignoring, which is the reason I don't still use mine. I am in sales and often times will have copies of either handouts or reports for my accounts. I like to only have my padfolio with me when possible, and remarkable or any of their competitors don't make a compatible padfolio with pockets of other documents. So, I would be making calls with my old padfolio and an addition tablet. Completely defeated the purpose. If they would creat a padfolio for this new remarkable, I will buy myself one for christmass.
Once you have one of these, it’s over. I’ve had one for 10 months and it’s all I use. And for people who suggest an iPad, writing on an iPad is terrible. This is legit the best writing experience you’ll ever have. And the storage, accessbility on your phone, etc., is amazing. Throw down the cash and get one.
I want to check if you are a bot or a payed comment. What are you, with no activity in your account since 2011, but commenting on videos about an expensive e-ink tablet?
Since you've had one for ten months, could you please tell me whether it's easy to change the tip of the marker plus with only one hand since I suffer from left hemiparesis? I like the product, though, but it's way too expensive. I like taking notes instead of writing because of my left hemiparesis. Hence, I might skip the type folio and if it's hard to replace the tip marker one-handed, I might skip the marker plus, too.
@@anriamaldiridwan2600 all you need to do is spend like $10 and buy a metal tip…you never need to replace it! I’ve had the same one for months. You’ll love it!
This product is not designed to be for everyone Not an iPad replacement, not for budget students This is niche for heavy note takers that would benefit from having their notes centralized. I have an R2 and ordered a paper pro. I used to have stacks of legal sized notepads and go through them at a one pad/week rate. For someone like me that uses this everyday for work and expressing ideas with clients, it pays for itself in productivity. I wouldn’t recommend it for everyone if the benefits do not outweigh the cost
@@sleepnaught Everyone has different preferences to work, i had an ipad but found the option of always being 1 swipe away from socials and other apps too distracting. Yes, i could get something to block those apps but then id just be fighting the urge to unblock. Having a device which literally gives me no option to do anything other than work with the centralised convenience of a digital device is worth the money for me, for someone with a better ability to focus - probably not.
ipads are horrible for note taking. i have the 13 inch ipad pro and a remarkable 2. after getting the remarkable, the ipad lives in a drawer but the remarkable is used every day.

As someone who is HIGHLY SENSITIVE this is FANTASTIC! I don’t like carrying a bunch of paper, I like having multiple notebooks accessible at once, I DISLIKE the amount of blue light you get from other devices…. …this would be a great device for me. Someone who is an HSP and who is more prone to being destracted by bright coloring. The entire color and light scheme of this is PERFECT at the initial introduction. I’d love to try one of these out.
I’ve taken up the wonderful, soothing hobby of fountain pens and stationary. Got a bunch of pens, including a few nice Sailors, a Visconti and a couple of Watermans. Got a nice set of Pilot Iroshizuku inks. And nice notebooks from Rhodia, Midori and Hobonichi. And stickers and stamps. Everything cost me half of this gadget, I’m enjoying the real thing a lot.
I had the R2 and returned it. There were just a few too many things that I didn’t like about it. The writing experience is definitely satisfying. The price point, even for the 2, is just absolutely ridiculous. It was $475 for the 2 with the marker plus. I also didn’t like the way PDF files uploaded to the tablet. I’m in nursing school and there are multiple packets of information for exams that we need to know. Uploading them to the tablet #1 is not the easiest experience. You have to have a separate device to go into your remarkable account on a browser, then download the file in an e-reader format, and then upload it on the website. When you do get it uploaded, it just doesn’t look right. Some of the pages are fine and then out of nowhere, you will come across a page that only has like one word on it. I’m not sure if there is a work around to this to make it stop, but it’s just things like that that bug me. With the Remarkable Paper Pro, it looks good on advertisements and watching people use them on videos and all that, but I don’t think that adding color is something that would make me, personally, want to pay the extra $300 difference between it and the 2. I would rather just find me a really nice writing pen and a notebook of paper to take notes on for school. If you have the money to waste on this, it might be worth giving a try, however. Maybe you’re someone that likes things like this. I thought I would like it but it ended up having a lot of drawbacks that I wasn’t really willing to compromise on. The price point being the biggest. If you are on a budget, but think that something like this would help you and you’re willing to break your budget for it, the good news is that almost anywhere you purchase it from will let you return it for a full refund, usually within 14 days of purchase. That’s what I done. I bought it, used it for about a week and a half, which was plenty of time for me to decide if it was something I would use long term every day. It wasn’t, so I returned it. Hope this helps anyone that is wanting one but is undecided.
This device isn't for someone like me but it looks super useful and cool! Looks like it would be great for artists or therapists that take a ton of notes. Great review!!
I agree this is a luxury product. Like many things, you are paying for convenience with this product. I have had the reMarkable 2 for almost 2 years now, and I use it fairly often. It has amazing battery life and it really does remove distractions and replaces my paper note-taking needs, but the biggest plus for me is how available my notes are to me now. When I actually needed some paper note before, I wouldnt always find it, and just storing papers, notebooks and binders in general is a pain.
I agree, BUT you cant sign pdfs, you can’t export, you have tons of journals flying around your home, lots of pencils, no organization etc. It’s a shit ton of money for sure for a limited device. People who use that kind of devices want that and they don’t want to travel around with a laptop, plus iPad plus their journals and pencils. And writing on iPad is just horrendous when comparing it to „paper“ even with the paperlike. Plus all the apps and notifications. No businessman or student or whoever uses those devices wants to turn off the notifications or turn on dnd first and THEN start working. They wanna go right ahead and don’t want to get distracted. PERIOD
@@dennisk8733 ipad has business and home profiles so that shouldn't be a problem when it comes to notifications Also if you already have a laptop or ipad, I feel like I'd rather carry that and my papers since I'm not spending any extra money for the convenience If I had NOTHING, sure, the product sounds interesting. But most consumers more than likely have a computer or a tablet or a phone, so this wouldn't be worth the 600+
I have one question: In my opinion, the primary (and perhaps only) advantage of devices like the Remarkable over actual paper is their searchability. I currently use the Boox Note Air, but I find searching through handwritten notes to be excruciatingly slow, especially when there are a lot of notes. It seems the device doesn’t create a searchable index in the background, nor does it save the index generated after a previous search. How is the search functionality on the Remarkable?
A very expensive product indeed. For a non-paid-for oppinion, my dad has one of the OG remarkable 2. He's had that since pre-release, so 4 years now. He's had a great experience so far. As an architect and a home salesman, he used to have a bajillion notebooks storing all gis client notes, house notes, pricing, not to mention all the contracts, minutes, etc. Now he has everything in a slim as hell tablet that still feels like paper to write in (and it does really feel like paper, I'll give them props for that every day). So it's a good product if you have a good use for it!
For everyone complaining in the comments, this product is not for you. Normal pen and paper, iPad, rocket books - nothing worked for me perfectly. I absolutely love my RM1 & RM2, and they have both made a dramatic improvement with my focus while working. I am very excited to get the Pro - I was looking into the Boox Note but have been hesitant. The price is absurd - yes, but I see it as an investment in myself and career.
This company is clearly a fan of how apple is doing business. Half the budget goes into marketing and then into the product's price. It make sense that many people don't appreciate this kind of doing business. It's not that the product is not for them. It's a good product. Just heavily, stupidly overpriced and marketed as a luxury one, when the main functionality is of taking notes. Something that is obviously the main thing that students do, but the company don't give a shit to those cheap losers. So, there you have it. Complaints.
I think this would be really sick if they made one equal to the size of the 6th generation iPad Mini. A Remarkable Paper Pro "Mini" would be an instant buy for me personally.
The fact the marker still sticks on the outside past the case is mind blowing. And the fact they still don’t have the ability to put books on them easily is so mind numbing it frustrating. Love my remarkable but for the price they need to make some improvements
I haven't watched this channel in a while cause i wasn't a fan of editing they started doing at one point with weird text on the screen and almost mrbeast-ish editing style, but this video was like a breath of fresh air, i'm glad they went back to the way it used to be, back when u fell in love with this channel
I wish they had a smaller version....tablet mini size so I can put in pocket. I really don't see the point of a keyboard, spoils it's uniqueness. I am not gonna talk about price, but great product
They cut out a lot of the actual problems I was looking for in regards to the new edition being the response time for things apart from writing. Obviously I wanted color implemented in the tablet, but there still seems to be a disparity within text problems and button delays (You can see this cut at 6:14). I was also hoping for shape making tools such as making perfect circles, rectangles, squares, dashed lines etc for better note taking. The update seems to only be about color over all and to me seems not worth the $600 for a new edition, let alone an extra $200 atop the previous installment. I was waiting for a new tablet, but hoping for much more
I've owned and used a Remarkable 2 for about 3 years after buying one used on eBay. It's somehow become one of my all time favorite tech purchases, so now that the battery isn't working as well I went out and bought the RM Pro. It's a great device just like it's predecessor even though it's definitely a bit overpriced. It's not for everyone, but I love e-Ink notepads.
@@iamthemobey not even im a college student and since buying one since 2020 i cant reallt go back to paper i think the pro is a bit pricey but for ppl that have to write a lot and organize carrying a tablet is much better then carrying 10 different notebooks, also can annotate text while laying in your bed, unlimited paper the ability to label notebooks so you dont forget it a t home or simply confuse it with another, like i said its a bit pricey but the baffoons in this comment section who actually believes a notebook can get the job done as well as this clearly dont write or read often on a day to day basis

Got one in a raffle. It's really nice but hard to recommend. It's aiming at a very small target. Works well for journaling/notes/ sketches. If you do a lot of processing writing/sketching on paper. Keeps everything organized and available in one place. No more piles of old papers and notebooks. Despite having everything you would want out of a great ebook reader this thing doesn't access any of that in a convenient way. Which is a bummer.

I tested the original model. The software was simply too slow for the price point. The biggest error I made was not double-checking to see if there were any DHL Service Points in my area where I could return it. I ended up traveling 166 miles (267 km) north the nearest service station; there are none in my entire county.
These are awesome….. I just think the price point is way out of line.. it’s the same price as an iPad… (I get it E-INC) great…. But in the 200-300$ range
I like it but... I already have an iPad so cannot justify the expense or adding another device to my workflow. I use the iPad for just about all of my media consumption so it is a distraction but should a I buy another device just to keep me from using the iPad..? If I were a student just starting out in the world it might be a better option but not sure I can make this work for me.
The price makes it an unbelievable dumb purchase buy an Ipad it can do the same thing and more… you like the screen feel guess what you can buy a screen protector for your iPad that does the same thing.
I thought about buying the R2 for my girlfriend, I discovered the product a few months ago. She’s had several iPads, and use to take notes on them for work. She’s 90% remote, since she doesn’t have an iPad anymore, thought this note taking product would fill that void on her desk. But otherwise she’s probably just typing stuff up on the desktop anyways.
I’m a student and I prefer a remarkable cause I have a iPhone and a 2-1 laptop to me a iPad would be unnecessary. Plus I’m someone who writes on a lot of pads and got tired of carrying them in my bag or grabbing the wrong one going to class.. I got my remarkable 2 last fall and it fit exactly what I was looking for personally. There are some downsides like forgetting to charge it cause how long it last without a charge, but it charges pretty fast.. Idk if this one uses a magnetic field for the precise writing, but if you have something magnetic on the table or case too magnetic it throws the lines off and you’d have to remove it and move your magnetic pen across to screen to essentially recalibrate it. 😮😮😮😮
at this price tag, and they still make the inside part fold to the outside so you pick up whatever dust and garbage from a surface which ends up on your screen everytime you take the folio out and use it. . pen and paper, problem solved.
Thanks for a great review! I am wondering what languages the Remarkable Paper Pro supports. I am learning Vietnamese. I want to know if I can convert hand written notes in Vietnamese to text and still retain all tone marks. Is it possible on this device? Kind regards Martin
It's new technology manufactured at a relatively small scale. The colour screen here is pretty unique in the e-ink world and has been developed by reMarkable themselves so theres high RnD cost that needs to be covered. Hopefully costs will come down but I'm not sure any time soon. There's clearly still a lot of improvement that can still be done with the tech and I'm not sure this type of product will ever have the mass appeal to be manufactured at the scale necessary to get the manufacturing costs really low.
It’s a niche product mainly aimed at entrepreneurs and business people. Those people will financially benefit from the lack or distractions vs a normal tablet and be more efficient than using pen and paper. Also what the above comment said about a low volume product. Economies of scale are a real thing. Considering the volume this will sell compared to an iPad I’m surprised they’ve managed to get it so cheap.
@@iamthemobey I would agree, but the amounts they are spending on advertising this tab must be half of its price. I see 3 of their ads per day for years in many platforms. They use the top influencers on paid reviews. All the things you are saying are correct, but they preferred the apple route. Half the cost goes to marketing and they include the marketing cost into the price of the product. They could go the mouth to mouth way, with real honest reviews, as the product is good for what it is. Byt no, they wanted to be a luxury brand, selling paper replacements and having monthly subscriptions for basic tasks.
It's the E-ink display mostly, I doubt you'd find any E-ink tablet that has a color screen larger than like 10 inches below 400 dollars. Then there are some of it's more or less unique features and admittedly a pretty hefty price premium for the brand... they made quite a name for themselves in their respective market. It's certainly not a product for everybody...

I think this is really useful for school and music such as band using tablets for digital music and such and you can type or write notes down also read books and what not
E-ink wins over paper with better ability to edit and make changes, saving more space, ease of transporting multiple notebooks, and easier integration with other documents. Paper wins on cost, a more tactile feeling, and not having to worry about device battery drain. iPad wins over Remarkable with better integration of apps and files, and faster response time when moving between files and pages. Remarkable wins over iPad by having a screen that doesn't wear on your eyes (blue light filters aren't enough of a solution), much longer battery life, and a more satisfying writing experience.
Okay, they need to just make a mode where whatever I write gets turned into text immediately rather than selecting it and turning it into text myself. It’s lazy, but in my opinion much better.
I wish they could make an A6 size one of these so I could use it while out and about working as an engineer. This would be like having to carry yet another laptop rather than a useful notepad.

I just bought mine and I’m digging it so far it’s really helping me with my note taking for my MBA program!
academicreviewpro AI fixes this. ke paper, but better - reMarkable.
I have the remarkable 2 and as a college student, it’s everything I tell myself I’ll use an iPad for, minus everything I’d actually use an iPad for.
So it’s useless
then you still didnt figure it out that, this kind of device is helping you to take care of your eyes and still being digitally productive.
@arzelzon1137 a 1$ notebook from Walmart does the same thing. For about 699 less dollars.
@@xjood805 No, it really doesn't. Obviously the product is not for you.
Gotta resist the mental trap!
i have the remarkable 1 still and use it a lot after many years. was totally worth it.
You can tell it's a paid review by not finding a single negative in the product
Seems to me it's just an unboxing...NOT a proper "review". And...perhaps the use case was so simple that the guy didn't feel a further in-depth was necessary. Maybe.
It's not a review it's an unboxing showcase
I hate that I have to one without color. sign and the reading light would help. THis already seems like a true upgrade and we are one minute in the video.
Looks like a game-changer for anyone who loves the feel of writing on paper but wants the convenience of digital!
There are some custom ones on etsy, not for this device specifically - at least yet. Or you can order some customized one elsewhere.

This product is not designed to be for everyone
Not an iPad replacement, not for budget students
This is niche for heavy note takers that would benefit from having their notes centralized.
Why not just get an iPad? You can't even cloud save your notes with the device without a monthly subscription. No collaborative options either.

2025 we want ink pens and paper
2027 we want smaller cell phones lol
Lol we have come full circle 😂😂😂
2027 is here bro
Important point to note: you can tag notes with keywords and search them using tags later.
Cannot do that on Regular paper.

Ive had my RM2 for 3 years and love it along with the pen and keyboard. use it every day. Ill def get this once that one runs its life.
A journal with pencils cost just 5 bucks
Printing costs $0.10 a page, and more for color.
PERIOD
@@dennisk8733 ipad has business and home profiles so that shouldn't be a problem when it comes to notifications
Also if you already have a laptop or ipad, I feel like I'd rather carry that and my papers since I'm not spending any extra money for the convenience

@@2.5k_ping56 no I'm just not someone that spends hundreds on redundant products
It’s possible on the laptop app
It's a really great product...only if the price could have been less
You can import templates such as calendars.
@@harryarriola6143 you can but calendars with note pages for like 3$ at walmart
It would probably be worth it at half the cost. No reason to get this over an iPad
I miss the old show brother.
I was waiting for a new tablet, but hoping for much more
Came to look for the lag/delay in writing as well. Looks like it's still got a lag.
This is just for those who have enough money to spend...... I'm budget tight so I'll probably get a regular tablet
It’s aimed at entrepreneurs and business people that will financially benefit from the lack of distractions

Really love the idea and have used it, but that price is bonkers.
Help me understand how this costs more than a fully functioning tablet
