While I don't know which live version of Live and Let Die they're using, I would posit that it's the Superbowl performance (2005). I'm not sure why Paul got credit as an artist on this Rihanna/Kanye song. Usually the producer only takes credit on dance tracks. He's basically a writer/producer and session musician here. He never got credit as an artist for Badfinger or The Silkie (technically John was the "producer" on that song, but Paul played guitar) or any other artists he fulfilled that role for in the past. I guess he figured it would be a hit and wanted that credit since it had been so long since the last one?
All does seem odd, but what's worse, from my point of view, is it feels like Rihanna and Kanye doing HIM a favour and Paul McCartney of all friggin' people shouldn't need that EVER! Still, was interesting to plug this strange gap in my Macca knowledge - and as always - thanks for watching!
